Life comes at you fast so you better be prepared. For those who are not, life is hard.
Life comes at you fast so you better be prepared. For those who are not, life is hard.
Have you ever felt like life itself is out to get you? Like maybe there is a big red bull's eye on you somewhere?
Several years ago when my kids were in elementary school, my friend Millie worked as the lunch lady at their school. The school is only 3 blocks from my home and she would stop in 2 or 3 times a week before work and we would have coffee. This was before my conversion to tea.
[bible]Psalms 121:1-2[/bible]
She drove up the long driveway and I went outside to greet her and walk into the house with her. As I was greeting her she smiled and just then a bird flew over and plop, it landed on the very end of Millie's nose, a big ugly white clump of stuff. Millie's eyes looked almost cross-eyed as she looked at her nose.
I did not laugh, although you have to admit it is funny, and asked if she would like to come in the house and wash her face before we have our coffee. She laughed and said boy would she ever like that. That bird was not aiming at Millie he was just doing his bird thing. That bird had a perfect hit without even trying.
[bible]Psalms 121:3-4[/bible]
That is how life comes at us most of the time. It just smacks hits us right in the face. Bird droppings are not a serious life-threating problem, just an annoyance. Many things are just an annoyance, but they are part of life.
Having Jesus Christ as the center of your life offsets all those annoying things of life. It also gives us support when the devastating things of life happen, an elderly parent with a stroke, serious family problems, a run away teen, personal health issues and the list could go on.
[bible]Psalms 121:5-6[/bible]
Jesus is the best insurance we have against the storm. He is our rock, shelter, strong tower, deliverer, and our ever-present help in times of need.
In my worry about everything days, any thing that happened would throw me off balance. Now I can rest in the ever-lasting loving arms of Jesus. Even if the problem does not go away, I am at peace within it.
[bible]Psalms 121:7-8[/bible]
So be prepared, make Jesus Lord of your life.
Be blessed
