A Special Blog Dedicated To Some Special People Here At CB
This might be hard for some of you to believe but I don't spend all of my time "above ground" at CB. Quite frequently I dive "underground" as well. In fact, I usually spend some time "underground" at least several times a day.
By underground, I don't mean anything dark and sinister. I simply mean that it is a place out-of-view to all but a few. Let me explain a bit about my underground place here at CB.
I run a couple of groups here at CB. They're both very special to me and have some amazing members. One group is public. Everyone can see it. The other group is private. You can't just say, "Oh, I think that sounds like a group I want to join." You have to apply to join and no it has nothing to do with operations here at CB!
This is my group for those whose lives have been touched by chronic illness either in their own life or the life of someone they love.
Some of these people have been very open about their illness and the "general public" here at CB is aware of them. Others have chosen to be more private about their illness. You may even know some of these people yet not be aware that they even are ill. Out of respect for those who wish to remain private, I will not tell you who these people are, however I do want to write about them because I think they are pretty amazing and a number of them have made an impact at CB whether most people are aware of it or not.
These people amaze me. Some of them are dealing with life-threatening illnesses. Others struggle with just living with their illness day in and day out. It gets hard to bear sometimes. It really does. It would be so easy for them to curl up in a little ball and shut themselves away. I know from personal experience that your body often screams for you to do that. You want to pull a blanket over your head and literally howl. I've been there and done that. You seek God for healing and instead God says, "I want you to walk down this path with me. Will you trust me even if I make you walk this path for the rest of your natural life?"
These people aren't perfect. They have their moments of doubts and fears like everyone else. They can get positively furious with God. They cry and they agonize over their situation. However...I stand in complete awe of these people. As I watch them here at CB I note that many of them are everywhere.
You see, you may not be aware of it but they have written blogs from the hospital. They have written blogs while undergoing treatment. I feel very secure in saying they are the first or among the first to jump in and pray. Oh how they pray. You can't see it all here...but I see it underground. I run into them in chat. I see them posting praise reports. I see them writing inspiring blogs and when I know what they are facing, it means even more to me. I see them encouraging and uplifting others through their comments. They lift up others with their laughter. Laughter in the midst of chronic illness? Absolutely!
I watch them rush out to walk beside brothers and sisters, not only in our group but to others here as well. Oh, and they love CB. Oh how they love this place! That's one reason why, despite their illnesses, they are here even when they're wracked with pain and exhausted. You would expect them to want to be on the receiving end all of the time but they don't. They want to give and give and give. They are amazing people. God has taught them some amazing lessons.
So, if you happen to know some of these people (yes, I know I didn't say their names), take a moment and drop them a line. Let them know you've been blessed by them. If you know someone in the "real world" who fits this description, let them know that as well. You see, knowing that they've blessed someone makes everything they have gone through or are going through worth while.
That's why I'm writing this blog. I want them and the world to know how much they have blessed me and that God has used them to turn my darkness into light!
Thank you for taking a risk, thank you for being vulnerable and thank you for your love, prayers and example which proves indeed that God is bigger!
With Love To My Little Band Of Rebels (you know who you are) and others who fight the same battles,
K
