When we take refuge in the Lord, when we love Him, walk with Him and follow His ways, God surrounds us with His shield of love. Notice that He surrounds us. He protects us in the front and in the rear. Regardless of the onslaught, we are safe... as long as we take refuge in the Lord.
He will not force us to do so, you know. He will not force us to take refuge in Him. He will call out to us, desiring us to come to Him. Will we? Will we seek refuge in God and God alone or will we try to erect some flimsy refuge of our own in which we take cover? A refuge built with our own hands cannot stand and it will be swept away along with us.
When we take refuge in the Lord, He surrounds us with His Shield of Love. A shield which cannot be destroyed. He surrounds us with His shield and we are safe. But...
In order to be surrounded by His shield, we must take refuge in Him.
