The witness of the Spirit

Have you ever met a "christian" and it is easy to talk about anything except Christ?

Why is it that there is so much talking in church. It makes me wonder to what prophet do talk? What should be the subject of our conversations? I preached a sermon once of talking about God, my text was;
(KJV) Malachi 3:16 "Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard [it], and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name."

Well, the sermon was in my estimation a flop, it was still hard to talk about Christ in that church. Well, we have since left that church and attending another and the situation has improved some, but there are still many people who just don't talk of Christ much, so I am asking the question Why?

It is amazing when you meet some people it takes about 3.2 seconds to start talking about the LORD. With these people it does not matter how you start out you will end up talking about God. they can't seem to help it. It just comes naturally to them, after all, what else is there to talk about? Sports, the weather, or money... Who CARES about these things! They all can be profitable in their place and only in a healthy context, but it should be easier to talk about our Lord than some dumb sport that we will all forget next year. ]

You do not have to twist the arm of a disciple to get him to be a disciple. After all, out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. And that is very scarry for "christians" i have met.

I do think it is amazing that some Christians will talk about anything but God. I know that I have been guilty of this in the past. Our Pastor actually talked about this a few weeks ago, he said that it worried him that after the service, people engaged in pointless chatter about what they'd been doing all weekend, TV programmes etc etc...and that God seemed to just vanish...and from then on I actually realised that I did this too, and made it my ambition to include God in my conversations. There are certain people that I know I can talk to and our conversation will end up being about God (even if it does start out being about homework... or TV) but then there are other Christians that I talk to and they completely steer the conversation away.
If we are uncomfortable talking to other Christians about God, surely we are not going to be very good witnesses for Christ?
God bless
