That Will be Glory
That will be Glory.
I have friends of very many years standing, and this couple were full time workers for the Lord, until he contacted a severe illness. He and his wife are very dear friends of mine, and they both worked together for God. I was speaking to the husband this morning, on the phone, and he was telling me this little saying that another mutual friend said from the Gospel platform, years ago. Now this mutual friend was a policeman in Britain, before he and his family moved to NZ , where he joined our Police Force . A wonderful servant of God, and he eventually became an evangelist here, full time. He was a very humourous speaker, and much loved. His Gospel messages were always peppered with humour. He and his wife are now in Glory.
Here is a little bit of his humour, which my friend this morning remembered.
"To dwell above, with the saints we love. That will be Glory.
And to dwell below, with the saints we know, that's another story."
Then that reminded me of this old Hymn.
O THAT WILL BE GLORY
Charles H. Gabriel (1856-1932) Words & Music: Charles H. Gabriel, in Make His Praise Glorious, by Edwin Excell (Chicago, Illinois: 1900) (MIDI, score).This song commemorates an expression of Ed Card, superintendent of the Sunshine Rescue Mission in St. Louis, Missouri. An enthusiastic man, he usually ended his prayers with, "And that will be glory for me!"
When all my labors and trials are o'er,
And I am safe on that beautiful shore,
Just to be near the dear Lord I adore,
Will through the ages be glory for me.
Refrain
O that will be glory for me,
Glory for me, glory for me,
When by His grace I shall look on His face,
That will be glory, be glory for me.
When, by the gift of His infinite grace,
I am accorded in Heaven a place,
Just to be there and to look on His face,
Will through the ages be glory for me.
Refrain
Friends will be there I have loved long ago;
Joy like a river around me will flow;
Yet just a smile from my Savior, I know,
Will through the ages be glory for me.
Refrain
