Fasting and feasting

God provided for Elijah in the years of drought - however his food was not lavish - it was what the birds dropped ( enough to put anyone but a starving man off the food) - or what the widow could provide - bread. Again when Elijah ran from Ahab there was food and strength for the journey.

For me with a surfeit of food in my kitchen the problem is not starvation but resisting eating more than I need . How does God speak to me about this?

Elijah depended on God. Do I remember that the abundance I have is from God or do I feel I am not dependent on God for my daily bread? Maybe Jesus taught us the Lord's prayer to remind us of our dependency on God - that our daily bread is from him - and he is the one who answers all our needs. And maybe if my need is to eat less - to fast- he can fulfil that need also.
