Back in the Mud

So I haven't updated in a while. The getaway was awesome. I showed up late and missed the first speaker, but I still learned a lot.

I played kickball with all everyone (ask kept my 0.00 ERA). The guys played football a little later. I remembered why I never played football for school: I hate playing with people who take it seriously. Even the pastors were arguing about calls! It was ridiculous. Anyway when games get serious I don't get involved much because I suck, so I get overlooked. That causes me to get angry as well. So basically when the quarterback sucked enough to let me sack him, it brought him everything I got... too bad it was 2-hand touch. He's forgiven me though. So have the guys who I gave stiff-arms to the face one of the two time I got the ball.

But the most important part of the weekend was the teaching. Our director gave a presentation about the difference between missional and conditional Christians. He focused on the great commission, and even gave a version of the conditional commission. It got to me about how I just sit in neutral at times. I need to go out and help bring people in.

And now tonight I'm going to a training session in Kansas City to learn to evangelize better. And later in the month, I'm going to go down with some other people from Midwest and pray for people at haunted houses. So hopefully that all works out for me.

I'm thinking about trying to get an internship for a Christian radio staion for the summer. I've looked at Air 1 and Fish Radio in Cali. Either would be awesome. I miss being in a radio station so much. I really hope something happens there for me whether or not it's in sunns SoCal.

So for the artist spotlight let's check out Hawk Nelson. They're signed to Tooth and Nail. From Canada. They are a pop-punk band. I know it's a horrible genre, but they're acutally a good band. Their biggest albums has been "Letters to the President" featuring "Take Me" and "California". Their current album is taking their fame further. It's called "Smile, It's the End of the World."

Hawk Nelson is a Christian rock band hailing from Peterborough, Ontario. The band has become popular on the Christian music scene and was voted "Favorite New Artist" by CCM Magazine in their February 2006 Reader's Choice Awards.

Co-written by the band and Thousand Foot Krutchs Trevor McNevan, who had spent time touring with Hawk Nelson last year, Smile, Its The End Of The World is a more diverse, mature collection of material than the Hawk Nelson debut. Though its crammed full of pop-punk punch, the band has broadened its sound with additional keyboard input from Dunn, guest vocals from Emerys Josh Head and a barbershop quartet?
