God's Covenants are Blood Covenants: Marriage
Genesis 2:23 KJV
And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh:
she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother,
and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
When a virgin woman engages in sexual intercourse for the first time, her hymen that is a protection for the vag ina is broken and the virgin bleeds onto the man. This act is meant to be the act that seals God's accepted form of a covenant of marriage. Both male and female are expected to be virgins as the example of Adam and Eve confirms boldly for us.
I wanted to present this to readers because I suspect many have not been taught what God's will is toward marriage. It is a blood covenant that is blessed by God when it is between one virgin man and one virgin woman committing themselves to each other for life.
Matthew 19:3-6 “Haven’t you read,” He replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore, what God has joined together, let man not separate.”
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish (fill) the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Covenant of Family
Genesis 4:1-11
1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
When a husband knows his wife and she conceives and gives birth to a child, a Covenant of Family has been entered into. The husband and wife are one flesh and the mother sheds blood onto her baby as she gives birth to the child. I think this is such a beautiful picture. As we study scripture we know the heart of God is so much about Family. Husbands and wives have the distinct honor and privilege of birthing and raising a family that has been entrusted to them by God. God's will for husbands and wives is to be fruitful and multiply.
It is so awesome when the Word of God is shared with teenagers and brings about an attitude of sexual purity until the time of entering into a marriage covenant blessed by God. And, an attitude of not becoming involved with immoral behavior that goes directly against God's will.
God sent Jesus to be our substitute. He paid the price for the sins of each and every one of us with His own pure blood. If you did not follow God's will concerning marriage, He is a forgiving God to those who repent of their sinful rebellion toward Him. Repent and sin no more. For by God's grace are we saved through faith in Jesus and His finished work at the cross.
Scripture for your heart:
Glorify God in Body and Spirit - 1 Corinthians 6:13-20 NKJV
...Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
