Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. Jesus refers to Himself as The Alpha and Omega a total of four times in Revelation.
Have you ever wondered what Jesus meant when He declared to us He is the beginning and He is the end? Since Jesus tells us there was a beginning and He tells us there is an end, then, there must be an end / ending. The question is what is this end?
I used to be quite concerned about what Jesus means by Omega, The End. I do believe the Holy Spirit has led me to the meaning of this declaration made by Jesus. And, of course, the answer is simply revealed to us in Scripture.
First, I am Alpha, the beginning..
John 1:1-5 In the beginning was THE WORD and THE WORD was with God, and THE WORD was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
I believe that when God spoke THE WORD for the first time as recorded in Genesis 1:3 "Let there be light," THE WORD came out from Almighty God and became the Second Person of the Trinity of God; God The Word. When THE WORD (which was prophesied in the Old Testament) was made flesh, the Second Person of the Trinity of God became known to us as the Son of God - Jesus Christ.
John 1: 14 And THE WORD was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of THE ONLY BEGOTTEN OF THE FATHER, full of grace and truth.
Jesus Christ, Alpha, the beginning, was with God and was God and without Him was not anything made that was made. Genesis 1 and John 1 introduces the Creator as a Trinity: God, The Word (that was made flesh) and The Spirit of God.
Finally, I am Omega, the end
All of the prophecy that has been recorded in Scripture must be fulfilled before "The End" Jesus is referring to will become reality. "The End" is recorded for us in 1 Corinthians 15
20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when He comes, those who belong to Him.
24 THEN THE END WILL COME, when He hands over the kingdom to God the Father after He has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. 25 For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
27 For He has put everything under His feet. Now when it says that everything has been put under Him, it is clear that this does not include God Himself, who put everything under Christ.
28 When He has done this, then the Son Himself will be made subject to Him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.
The Omega, The End Jesus is referring to is when He has put all of His enemies under His feet, destroying the last enemy death. Then, Jesus will hand over the kingdom to God the Father and Jesus will once again be subject to God and God will be ALL in ALL.
All Glory To God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit! Three in ONE!
