Egypt and Syria launched attacks against Israel on Yom Kippur, October 6, 1973, the holiest day of the Jewish calendar. On Yom Kippur, the entire nation of Israel comes to a virtual standstill. It is a day for fasting, going to synagogue and refraining from the use of fire, electricity and communications systems. Israel could not have been more vulnerable to surprise attacks.
What was Israel up against? 180 Israeli tanks faced over 1400 Syrian tanks. Closer to the Suez Canal, a mere 436 Israeli infantry were poised to fight over 80,000 Egyptian soldiers. The attacks by Egypt and Syria were backed by nine Arab states, as well as the Soviet Union.
By the second day, the slaughtering of Israeli troops and destruction of their equipment had been a great blow. Moshe Dayan the minister of Defense, started to talk about pulling back and even possible surrender. Golda Meir, Prime Minister of Israel, resisted doing this. Israel did not surrender.
When Golda Meir requested assistance from the U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, his reported response was to let Israel 'bleed a little.' At 3 a.m., Golda Meir picked up the phone and called President Richard M. Nixon and asked for help. It is reported that Nixon heard the prophetic word and the voice of his mother as he listened to Meir.
As a young boy, Richard Nixon's Christian (a Quaker) mother told him that one day he would be in a powerful position, and a situation would arise where Israel and the Jews needed his help. When it did, he was to help them.
By the time Golda Meir hung up, she had the weapons help her country needed that swung the pendulum to Israel's favor and brought the end to the Yom Kippur War.
America's resupply included 815 total sorties, bringing Israel 56 combat aircraft and 27,900 tons of munitions and supplies. Both Secretary of State Kissinger and President Nixon wanted to conduct the airlift, but according to the CIA director, "Nixon gave it the greater sense of urgency. He said. 'You get the stuff to Israel. Now. Now.'"
Documented history provides the proof that God has used American presidents to come to the rescue of Israel in the 20th century. The answer to the question: Will God call America again to the rescue of Israel? Through God's supernatural intervention, I truly believe the answer is YES. What exactly an American president will be called to do, one can not be certain. However, whatever it is, the will of the president will accept in his heart the will of God, and the response will be positive. It may be with an exertion of the power America has in this world. The response may be with a supply of weapons, with using our authority as a world leader in a diplomatic way or even engaging in war, standing with Israel.
The focus of end time events is now and will continue to focus on Israel. I have pondered on the last of days, thinking about Daniel's 70th Week and the Time of Jacob's Trouble. I would like to point out: In a very real way, time began again for Israel in 1948. History starts where it left off, at the point where the nation of Israel - the Jewish people rejected Jesus Christ as the Messiah. The events of these last days primarily do and will involve the nations (today's counterparts) that were in existance at the time of Jesus Christ and the beginning years of "The Church."
A number of the interpretations that involve today's nations of the world are not accurate. I believe, the focus should be on what the world was at the time of Jesus. At the time when the nation of Israel was put into a state of stupor. What is about to unfold is a reawakeneing of Israel. Jewish people will see who Jesus is and many will receive Him as the Messiah and Lord. What will continue to unfold will be noticeably very biblical. Turn your attention to the Word of God and examine with open eyes and ears through the power and guidance of the Holy Spiri. I believe we will begin to see clearer and clearer the unfolding of what was recorded by the major and minor prophets in the Old Testament.
God has revealed Himself to me as being both very literal and, especially now in these last days, sequential in the unfolding of His Word.
Rebirth of Israel, 1948
The second example I am calling attention to is how God supernaturally called out to a president to come to the rescue of Israel at the time of the rebirth of Israel as a Nation in 1948.
"The future of one and one-half million Jews in Europe depends on what happens at the present meeting of the United Nations."
On May 14, 1948 Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion read the proclamation of nationhood. At the United Nations, striking the speaker's table for emphasis, he announced, "The name of our state shall be Israel."
On May 12th, 1948 President Harry S. Truman gathered his advisers. With tempers flaring, a case for the recognition of Israel was made. Secretary of State George Marshall led the opposition, saying he couldn't vote for President Truman if he pursued recognition. But, on May 14th Truman acted and America recognized the new state of Israel.
The American statement recognizing the new State of Israel.
|This Government has been informed that a Jewish state has been proclaimed in Palestine, and recognition has been requested by the provisional Government thereof. The United States recognizes the provisional government as the de facto authority of the new State of Israel - - Harry S. Truman - - approved May 14, 1948|
America's recognition came shortly after midnight in Palestine, just minutes after the new nation was proclaimed. God used the United States and its then President, Harry S. Truman, to help bring about, through the recognition required, the rebirth of Israel as a nation in just one day. Prophecy was fulfilled. The rebirth of the state of Israel in 1948 was a miracle of history.
“Before she goes into labor, she gives birth; before the pains come upon her, she delivers a son. Who has ever heard of such a thing? Who has ever seen such things? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment? Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children.”
“However, the days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when men will no longer say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,’ but they will say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them.’ For I will restore them to the land I gave their forefathers.
then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you. Even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens, from there the Lord your God will gather you and bring you back. He will bring you to the land that belonged to your fathers, and you will take possession of it. He will make you more prosperous and numerous than your fathers.
