Is evolution a religion
Every time a debate about evolution comes up you hear the same old phrase Evolution is a proven fact” yet the person making this claim will not, because he can not, tell you what evidence has proven it. As Dr. Wolfgang Smith states:
"We are told dogmatically that evolution is an established fact; but we are never told who has established it, and by what means. We are told, often enough, that the doctrine is founded upon evidence, and that indeed this evidence 'is henceforward above all verification, as well as being immune from any subsequent contradiction by experience; but we are left entirely in the dark on the crucial question wherein, precisely, this evidence consists."
So if evolutionists can not produce this critical evidence what exactly is evolution then? Dr. Michael Ruse, an evolutionist, writes in the Canadian National Post May 13, 2000 edition article entitled How Evolution Became a Religion” where he comments on his reflection of Dr. Gish’s statement that evolution is another religion:
Heretical though it may be to say this – and many of my scientist friends would be only too happy to chain me to the stake and to light the faggots piled around me – I now think the Creationists like Mr. Gish are absolutely right in their complaint. Evolution is promoted by its practitioners as more than mere science. Evolution is promulgated as an ideology, a secular religion – a full-fledged alternative to Christianity, with meaning and morality. I am an ardent evolutionist and an ex-Christian, but I must admit that in this one complaint – and Mr. Gish is but one of many to make it – the literalists are absolutely right. Evolution is a religion. This was true of evolution in the beginning, and it is true of evolution still today.”
In 1993 Dr. Michael Ruse spoke at the Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science where he said:
"And certainly, there's no doubt about it, in the past, and I think also in the present, for many evolutionists, evolution has functioned as something with elements which are, let us say, akin to being a secular religion."
Dr. Ruse made that claim three times during his speech. Dr. Ruse also made these claims again in the Journal Science March 7, 2003 in his article Is Evolution a Secular Religion?” and in an article published March 22, 2004 entitled Is Evolution Just Another Religion?” published by Global Spiral of the Metanexus Institute.
Dr. Gene Zimmer, a psychologist, is not a Creationist or evolutionist. He is an outsider looking in and describes what he sees. He states on his website that:
Materialism, just as any religion, is only a unique set of axioms, assumptions, opinions and beliefs about the nature of Man, his world, the universe, and how Man relates to his world and the universe. It is a system of concepts [sic] about reality, and nothing more.”
Dr. Zimmer believes materialists (another name for evolutionists) are dangerous because of their suppressing power and control they have in the scientific arena.
Evolution can not offer any observable incontrovertible evidence to prove that is fact. To hold to evolution one has to believe it happened. Evolutionists are so tenacious about their tents of faith that anyone in the academic arena dare not speak critically or face the evolutionist’s inquisition. Any lay person will be labeled ignorant. Any scientists are labeled pseudo-scientists. Evolutionists are simply evangelizing their religion and their intolerance leads them to persecute anyone that does not believe what they believe. So when debating evolutionists remember you are dealing with a secular religion and as Paul warned Timothy
Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith.” (1 Tim. 6:20-21)
