A favorite passage of scripture of mine is: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. - 1 John 1:9 That is a promise. So that is the place to begin. Yes, "life" is a shambles at the moment but God is interested in something far more important than that at the moment. YOU!
You've admitted that all is not well between you and God at the moment. There are things you feel that you have not done, that you should have done. Not that we are saved by works but if we have not treated God (or anyone else for that matter) like we should, well, we need to let Him know that we are sorry about that.
Remember the Prodigal Son? When he returned home, the father ran... RAN... to greet him. That was not the norm in that culture. Wealthy men did not run. Slaves ran, children ran but not men of wealth and power. Regardless of what the enemy may say, the moment our heart turns toward God, He "runs" to meet us.
I have not battled depression or marriage troubles. My troubles have been of another sort, cancer and other life-threatening illness which resulted in disability and of course, financial challenges quickly followed. All of this has happened within the past four years since I've been a member here at CB.
I'm not going to pretend it is easy to walk a "dark path". It isn't but I also know that God has been with me every step of the way and I know He longs to be with you as well. Begin by opening His Word and letting the Holy Spirit speak to your heart. May I share a few passages with you?
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. - Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. 4 He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won t even hurt your foot on a stone. You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! The LORD says, "I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation." - Psalm 91 (NLT)
When our hearts and minds are filled with God's Word, there is no room for the enemy's words to enter.
Blessings and Prayers,
K

Kreynolds,
Thanks for responding. Your post makes me happy glad. I am very sorry to hear that you had to battle cancer. It is the grace of God that you are still here to be a living testimony for individuals like m that have lost their way. That is an inspiration to me. I hope to grow stronger in the word like you and others on this site. I just want to learn to be more like God. In this world it is so hard. I know that it will be a continuous work in progress for the rest of my life and I am fully committed to making this change for the better. My grandmother always tell me that when God is first in our lives, all things will fall into place. Thanks once again. |

Most Welcome Sister Shudono3. When all things seem to go the wrong way, stop and pray. Pray and pray until you see some changes and then pray some more. Too many people take their lives for granted and they think that God will give them a good life on a silver platter. Far from it! The devil wants to mess us up and mess up our lives and all that are around us.
So what other way is there to do except to pray and to trust God step by step? There is a song that goes: Trust and obey, for there is no other way. Do spend more time in prayer to seek the Lord, do not doubt or listen to the other voice. But listen to faith, listen to positive things and listen to what God will speak to you.
I pray that the Lord will help you walk back into His path of righteousness and that you will find peace and reconciliation as you walk the way of God. He will surely bless you for your obedience, for the Lord loves obedient children.
Thanks for sharing your first blog. Do enjoy your time here. Continue to share and I look forward to your future blogs.
Blessings always

Silverpen,
Prayer does change things. I want to be able to come to God and just lay it all down. I know that God already knows what we all need. I am not the strongest prayer but I know that with time that will change. I am so excited about getting to know the Lord. Thanks for responding. |

Sister, Silverpen has given you some very valuable advise. The place to start is on your knees in your private place in a heart to heart conversation with God. Pour out your heart to Him then be silent for a while listening for His Holy Spirit. What ever you come under conviction of, confess and repent (change your thinking and behavior) pertaining to these things. Continue in this conversation with God until He releases you. You will feel His release in your spirit.
The church is wonderful and everyone should have a church home where they are ministered to. However, the church does not save anyone. Be thankful for the family of believers God leads you to however put your trust and faith in God only.
Never speak of the church as if the church is the answer. God shares His glory with no one.
I've prayed God opens your spiritual ears to hear Him and your heart to receive what He is leading you to do.
Blessings,
