Build God's House, and God will help build your house too.

Recently I was in the process of moving house. For those who read my previous blogs and knew of my situation after the demise of my beloved mum, I was to find an alternative accommodation as the house I lived in belonged to my brothers.

With little savings and also being unable to work for a few years due to ill health, I wondered how I was to find an accommodation in this expensive pressurizing society where I lived here in Singapore, a country that was so fast growing last year with a GDP growth of 15%. I felt so left out in this mad chase for the nation's wealth and for the nation's growth. I missed one of its golden moments.

Yet I told the Lord that I would be still and want to see the salvation of the Lord in the midst of personal lack and bleak future. I just wanted to see that God would keep His promises to me, that He would provide all my needs, especially housing needs which was most pressing.

Six months had since passed. The property prices kept on going up. With a small inheritance from my late mum, though insufficient to purchase a tiny apartment, but due to a mandatory law, I could use my old age savings in the CPF (Central Provident Fund) to make up for the purchase of an apartment.

To cut the long story short, I was blessed with a 2 bedrooms apartment which I liked, a simple apartment far from the many expressways of Singapore, a tiny apartment though small but was sufficient for my needs, an apartment quite exclusive with only 3 neighbours on the same level.

Whilst making arrangement to move there, my youngest sister turned out to be a surprise and a blessing. All those years of helping her take care for her 3 little kids in my mother's home bore some fruit. She was willing to buy a small condominium unit nearby with my other sister. And she was willing to let me live free for the next few years.

Praise the Lord for such good generous sister. This is one of the salvations that the Lord is providing for me. Who will believe that a younger sister will help in this kind manner? On top of that, another sister willingly gives me monthly funds for my expenditure. Praise the Lord for such good siblings. May the Lord bless their and many other siblings' generous hearts!

So I now have two flats, one to stay and one to rent out. I can now receive some income to pay a small rent to my youngest sister even though she is willing to let me live for free. And the leftover sum can be used for my daily needs. I'snt it wonderful that the Lord provides me with much!

One can never fathom the provisions of God, how He provides for all my needs, my daily expenses, and my medical needs for all these years. God has never failed me, though there are times when I do not much, I have never lacked. Hallelujah, my Heavenly Father is the wealthiest tycoon of the wealthiest tycoons of this world. No one can ever out give our God.

In the midst of house removal and renovations, I can't help but thought of these few verses in the Bible, in the Book of Haggai.

Haggai 1, verses 3 - 11

3: Then the Word of Yahweh came by Haggai, the prophet, saying,

4: "Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your panelled houses, while this house lies waste?

5: Now therefore this is what Yahweh of Hosts says: Consider your ways.

6: You have sown much, and bring in little. You eat, but you don't have enough. You drink, but you aren't filled with drink. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm, and he who earns wages earns wages to put them into a bag with holes in it."

7: This is what Yahweh of Hosts says: "Consider your ways.

8: Go up to the mountain, bring wood, and build the house. I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified," says Yahweh.

9: "You looked for much, and, behold, it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?" says Yahweh of Hosts, "Because of my house that lies waste, while each of you is busy with his own house.

10: Therefore for your sake the heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit.

11: I called for a drought on the land, on the mountains, on the grain, on the new wine, on the oil, on that which the ground brings forth, on men, on cattle, and on all the labor of the hands."

Think about it. The Lord says as long as we take care of His house, He will take care of our houses and our needs.

Our purses will not have holes, such like having unnecessary repairs of this or that, our pockets will not have holes like falling sick unnecessarily and spending much on medical advices and treatments amidst much physical suffering.

In Haggai Chapter One verse 10 and 11, God says He will withhold the dew and the earth will withhold its fruit. He will also call for a drought on the land and on the grain and the wine, just because we do not take care of His house but only take care of our own!

In modern days context, it means that our businesses and our jobs will closed down, the banks suddenly will shut down and all our savings gone. All that belong to us are no longer protected by the Lord, so our savings, our health, our lives, our nations, our businesses will just disappear.

But if and if only we will take care of the House of God, take effort to build His House first, to put His Kingdom first, to serve Him and put the Gospel's needs first, He will protect what that are ours and grant us fruits from our labour and will grant us the abundant life.

Think about it. How can we just care for ourselves, our own houses that they may be panelled, with all the carpeting and fine furnishings and yet the house of God is in ruin?

Little wonder why God will not bless ! It's time to remember to take care of God's House, it's never too late!

Always put God first and His house first, even if they are small sums of money, small efforts, and small contributions. God does not despise small beginnings, small sums or small efforts. He sees our hearts towards Him, not the amount. He only sees our labours of love for Him.

Ask yourself this question: are you too busy building up your life, your hobbies or interest, your family, your business, your panelled house, your all but forget to take care in building God's house physically, materially and spiritually?

Lastly, do not for once think that God is against us when we are rich, or when we are healthy and doing well. Far from it! God is not a slave driver!

It is only when we forget to take care of His House whilst building our own dream house, it's when we enjoy our lives and forget those in His House who are less fortunate who need help, it's when we are peaceful and have plenty that we forget those in God's many other Houses around the world who need support. It's when we become self centred and selfish and care about ourselves, not His house, and His people! That's what bothers God-- our wrong attitudes and selfish ambitions!

Therefore decide this day to take care of God's House in your country and throughout the world just like the way we will take care of our own beautiful houses. Amen

  Amen!

What a beautiful example of waiting on our Lord. He does provide each and every time. The testing of faith is no longer required when you know the outcome already. That is what our forefathers where known for. Praise God that you have discovered this, Thank you for sharing with us the love that our Lord has surrounded you with .

blessings abound,

Brother Bubba, thanks for the comment and for the recommendation. Yes, it was not easy to trust Him in the midst of turmoil, pressures and even seeing the circumstances around me. Yet when we choose to lean on Him inspite of all the nagging of fearful thoughts around us, we will be able to see His deliverance in due time. God is faithful to meet the needs of all His children when we completely trust in Him. We serve a good God! I just love Him so much!

Praise God for what He has done! I was just contemplating this topic today for I am in a situation at the moment where I am having to go one step at a time and cannot see beyond the moment. God can though and I need to remember that.

Every gift... no matter how small... which we offer up in Jesus' name does not go unnoticed by God. Our Heavenly Father knows what we have need of... and when we will need it.

Oh, how I love this story of how God provided for you, Hwa! I love it even more for it is apparent it was not by your own "plotting and planning" LOL!
It was orchestrated by God Himself!

Blessings and enjoy your new home!

Sister K, yes thanks for the visit and for the comment. Yes, keep trusting Jesus when the days seem dim, when the path seems so long. It was never easy as there were much pulls here and there. I did felt fearful at times, so alone and wondered was I wrong to trust and wait for God. Yet I chose to trust Him and wait for His salvation and indeed the salvation of God came. I just want to praise and marvel at the goodness of God, His arms are never too short not His ears too dull to hear our cries. Continue to trust Him inspite of the circumstances, turn your eyes upon Jesus.

Blessings always

One told twice heard! I just bloged on a very simiular subject, it's the Laodecian church age, by the way I bloged and then read silverpens blog, once told twice heard, afrimation, God is so awsome I love watching the Master at work ! By the way, I have had a paint and body shop for over 30 years, I was intstructed by a higher power, ( you know who ) start a ministry, then He said give the shop to my son, the day after I did this the shop got buisy,he will do fine in with it, all I asked was a small percentage to help me with bills as I go into the ministry, God does provide, God is faithful to do the things He promisses. silverpen is right on the money with this blog, God bless him and his!

Brother Onehumbelservant, thanks for the visit and for the recommendation. Yes, our God is awesome. One must experience it for oneself of His deliverance and His salvation to taste His goodness. It was not easy waiting for Him and be still, but when the deliverance of God came, all heaven broke loose and there was the glory of God.

Let us thank our God again and again.

Blessings always

Sister Grace, thanks for the visit and for the receommendation. Yes, just press on, no one says its' easy but it's possible. Remember that God is working for you , not against you. He will make a way when there seems to be no way. He will solve our problem one by one, never all at once. That's the way He works. Maybe He wants us to continue trusting Him.

Praise the Lord for your testimony! Many years ago, I remember sitting and looking at the blank, white walls of the house my husband and I were renting. I wanted so badly to paint and make it pretty, but there were no funds for extras. I often felt sorry for myself, but that day the Lord said specifically to me, "Build my House first and then I'll build yours." We moved several times and were always in the rent catagory. It was only over 10 years later that we got our first house, bought by my mother-in-law who supports us in missions, and it's a beautiful house! Thanks for your blog! ctl

Sister CTL, yes you are right. When we put God's house first in our lives, He will not fail us. Glad that you have found this principle work for You, God never fails to meet the needs of His children, especially those who trust completely in His provision which I do.

He has never failed me even though I have not been able to work for many years. To God be all glory, He is the wealthiest tycoon than all the tycoons of this world.

Thanks for your kind comment and for your recommendation.

Thank you for the great post. We are the house of GOD. This means that ourselves must be pure that is clean. We don't want to move into a dirty house, likewise, same with GOD. Spirits make home in physcial bodies, remember the Legion that Jesus drove out ? Bless you

Brother Alphaandomega, thanks for the visit and for the comment. Indeed we are the House of God. So as we also build the spiritual house within us and also the house of God in all ways, He will build us and change us from glory to glory.

Brother Raj, yes when we focus our sight on God and remember that He is a God who remember all we do for Him and especially our deep love for Him, He will never fail His children who love Him and who lean completely on Him.

We can touch His heart when we will to take care of His house and He will indeed take care of ours and our needs.

May the Lord bless you in the days and weeks ahead and to bring you closer to His folds.
