In the past years, unfortunately we had lost information of the location due to negligence. Yet because of the discovery that we had living paternal cousins in Xiamen China coupled with our return visit last year, there was a revival of sentiment to locate these graves here.
So a small group of us met one sunny morning of a public holiday to hunt for their graves remembering that my late father’s family left China to reside here in 1926.
Whilst living here, they had acquired some wealth. Soon they passed on in two separate deaths which were 2 months apart in 1933, it was first my grandfather followed by his wife. Regrettably, they never returned to their homeland, Tong Ann of the Fujian Province of China.
They chose to be buried separately on opposite hills, for reasons unknown to us, both though buried under Taoist customs as they never knew Jesus.
At the lunch table after a futile search, one brother in law who was a lay pastor mentioned that he believed our grand parents should be in Heaven as it was not their fault that they did not know Jesus and that God surely would admit them into Heaven.
To me, this was a disturbing statement. We all knew that Jesus came to die for all our sins and we had to accept Him as our Savior before we could return to Him.
If his doctrine was correct, then all the people of the world throughout all the generations whether they knew about Jesus or not, everyone of this world would go to Heaven. It’s altogether unbiblical!
His doctrine would make all that Jesus did on the Cross altogether in vain. All in vain!
If everyone could go to Heaven because it was not their fault that they did not hear about Him, then Jesus’s life and His sacrifice would become meaningless; His and death and resurrection would do nothing to bring us to Heaven!
I know inside my heart where my grandparents will be according to the Word of God. Please do not debate as to where my grandparents will be.
It hurts to think where they are now. It hurts to know that there are so many who will join them there because they have not heard about Jesus, because no one tells them about Jesus and because someone who knows Jesus does not bother to show them the Way.
It hurts me much, it saddens me even though I do not know them, but it hurts Jesus even more. It hurts that so many reject Him, it hurts that many will miss the way because so few care for them the way Jesus does.
So my friend, go and tell someone about Jesus, let them hear about Him so that they will know the way back to God, back to Heaven.
Let the works of Jesus which has been done on the Cross be not in vain.
Jesus did not die in vain, my friend. Jesus died for one sole purpose of the Father to bring us back to the Father’s Heaven.
Lastly I like to mention that I’m so glad to have found Jesus. I’m so glad that both my parents though born Taoists have become Christians whilst living here in Singapore and I’m so glad that they have returned to the loving fold of Jesus waiting for me to return Home one day.
I’m also so grateful that God gives me the chance to know Him and to be His child.
May God have mercy on all the people of this world to know Him and may He raise up more willing laborers to harvest more souls for His Kingdom. Amen
