Hmmmmm, think im gonna cause a stir here smurfette.
I read about the N.T church and I see that it is a body of believers gathered under the authority and saving blood of Christ Jesus. One sometimes wonders what the apostles would make of our body of people who meet week on week?. In some buildings maybe only half of the body is made up of believers, and while I rejoice to see everyone come to Gods meeting house, I am mindful that at times ,that not all are there because they choose to be.
Now in saying that , sometimes the building in which we meet is the only place non-christians can hear the gospel.
Keeping that in mind, do we have a duty to go into the highways and byways to reach out to the alcoholic and drug abuser? Of course we do.
Do we cast out of the church those who are in a same sex relationship? hhmmm heres where i think I get into hot water. I honestly believe that if you choose a same sex relationship you choose to set your face against God.
Do we have a duty to tell them that? yes we do, as long as we do it with love, compassion and humility, acknowledging that their sin is no greater than ours.
But to judge christians on either their past, or their present difficulties or struuggles, is a foolish and very dangerous path to follow.
Christs command to you and I is simply this, To love your neighbour as you love yourself.
The question we need to ask ourselves is this; Who do we class as our neighbour?
