ChristianBlog.Com Introduces Industries First Automatic Adult-Only Monitoring System
ChristianBlog.Com is proud to announce that we have taken another step forward in providing additional protection for our members! In yet another "industry first" ChristianBlog.Com is continuing our efforts to have ChristianBlog.Com be a truly "Family Safe" website by introducing a new feature of our Autonomic Monitoring Systems (AMS) that will scan content 24/7 for any Blog Entry Content it feels is "adult in nature" and it now automatically set the given Blog Entry as an "Adult Only" Blog Entry, thereby restricting access only to those over the age of 18.
Since April 27th, 2006 when ChristianBlog.Com become the very first Christian Blog Service Provider to put into place a system to keep minors from viewing content of an adult nature, we have continued to expand upon our "family safe" motto and find new ways to protect those who need protecting, yet still provide a way for those of adult age the ability to read all of our members published content.
Our new Automatic Adult-Only Monitoring System being powered by our (AMS) is the next step forward in providing a safer, more family safe, environment for the minors who visit ChristianBlog.Com!
Without explaining all the details (both to keep from boring you, and to deter those who would seek to abuse this system) we will attempt to explain the basics of how this new system works.
What we have done is build a list of "keywords" that we consider 'adult-in-nature' that span from words like "sex" and "suicidal" to words like "adultery" and "abuse". And because we did not just want to system to be an "Industry First" (which to the best of our knowledge it IS) we decided to take this one step beyond and plug it into our autonomic monitoring systems which "learns" and will constantly be building a better and better "adult words list" the more it is used!
Say for instance someone posts/edits a Blog Entry with a story of how they were abused as a young child, ran away from home, lived on the streets, found Christ, and has since gone on to be a successful pastor reaching out to those who have been, or are going through, a similar childhood as they had.
While we call all agree that such testimony-based Blog Entries are a great thing, because ChristianBlog.Com is a "Family Safe" website, we truly do feel (as do a good percentage of our members) that some of the parts of such a story might not be something we would want our young children reading.
So, what this new system will do is pick up on these "keywords" and if a certain amount of the right keywords are used, the system will automatically mark the given Blog Entry as an "Adult Only" Blog Entry!
Now, we here at ChristianBlog.Com do realize that there will be times when this system marks a Blog Entry as Adult-only that it maybe should not. Such a situation is always going to be something we have to expect - however, we feel (as did a good percentage of our members based upon a recent poll we did) that these few "unfortunates" are an acceptable bit of reality in the attempts to protect the whole of our membership-base.
ChristianBlog.Com welcomes our Community feedback of this new feature and we truly do feel this new feature will help ChristianBlog.Com to continue to push forward the ENTIRE Blogging Industry in a quest to be "Family Friendly"!
And, because we realize there are times when our system might actually make a mistake, we have provided a Request System that will allow you to send our Support Team a request to have your Blog Entry that you feel has been incorrectly marked as Adult-only to be reviewed!
