“And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days. (New International Version 1984)- Joel 2:28-29
This is the working of God's Holy Spirit through the body of Christ in His dispensation of Grace during the Church Age. Apostle Peter, in the first sermon of the Church Age, declared the beginning of the fulfillment of this prophecy (Acts 2). Following apostle Peter's sermon some three thousand souls were added to the Church. The covenant of the Church age can be found in the epistles of apostle Paul.
God continued to reveal the workings of His Holy Spirit through willing souls in 1 Corinthians 12. Each member of the body is gifted by God and He manifests His Spiritual gifts through those of His choosing during time of ministry need. In addition to these Spiritual gifts God has provided proper leadership within His body for the edification of His saints until the day we all come to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.
The Church Age is a covenant of Grace which brings peace with God through faith in Jesus, His Son. The covenant to come is a covenant of Peace which will be enforced by the King of kings and Lord of lords and Him manifesting His reign from His earthly throne in Jerusalem and through His body which is the believers who were saved during the Church Age and returned to earth with Him. The covenant which will be active during this age can be found in Hebrews 8. Some prophets of old will also be leading and ruling during this age, however, this is outside the scope of this blog.
Be assured, child of God and member of Christ, God will not take away the promises He made in Joel 2 or in Acts until the day comes when we see our Lord face to face.
