I Simply Believe What God has Said

Many people struggle in their understanding of Scripture. They turn to men for explanation. There are many holy men of God who have been called, blessed, anointed, and ordained in the ministries of preaching and teaching. However, men remain men and there cannot be found one, in human form, who's understanding of Scripture has no flaws.

Our loving God has made provision for this. He has given us His Word and His Holy Spirit. His Word is our teacher and His Holy Spirit will (during our studies) teach us all things and cause us to remember all things He has told us (John 14:26).

What does God's Holy Spirit bring back to our memory? His Word, that which has been revealed to us through our reading and studying His written word.

I am a simple man. I believe I serve a God who is able to communicate with me in a way I understand. I believe God has watched over His Word and has protected it through the centuries and that which I find written in the Holy Bible is what He intended for me to have. I believe when I read and study His word, under the anointing of His Holy Spirit, I see what He wants me to see.

KISS is the principle I always abide by. KISS means Keep It Simple Stupid. Yeah, Stupid, that's me when I close my ears to what Holy Spirit is saying and begin twisting things around so they fit into a doctrine I have been taught.

God desires that even the simplest of us understand Him. Praise Him for that else I would be in total darkness.

My method for study and application is in a literal interpretation. I believe God says what He means and God means what He says. Yes, allegory can be found in Scripture. However, where there is allegory there is also clear evidence it is allegory.

I was raised in church. I have been taught doctrines as far back as I can remember. The day I received Jesus as my personal Savior I was already indoctrinated in much doctrine. Some of these teachings I adhere to even today. Many of these teachings, through study and maturity, I have found to be filled with error and have rejected.

Each of us are responsible for ourselves. Yes, those who preach and teach will have a stricter judgment however, that does not change the fact that each of us remain accountable for ourselves.

Through maturity I have learned I must be as a child when approaching God's word. Simply believing what He is saying.

Some examples are:

(1) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. During this process God created an ordinary 24 hour earth day during the 4th day of creation.

God is eternal. Time has no meaning for Him. An earth day, month, year, decade, century, millennium, etc. are all only a twinkling of an eye for God. It's much different for man. For man an ordinary day is a 24 hour period whether from 6PM to 6PM or 12AM to 12AM.

I grew up believing in the doctrine of a six ordinary 24 hour day creation period. This is one of the things I have now rejected. God clearly tells us in the creation account He created the ordinary 24 hour earth day during the 4th day of creation. Therefore, how could the first 3 days be ordinary 24 hour days? And if they are not it seems logical the remaining 3 days are not either.

There is no doubt in my heart God created the heavens and the earth in six days. He did it in six God days. How long in earth time is a God day? In this instance, I have no idea.

I simply believe what God has said.

(2) Now is a good time for a little on allegory since many use what is an analogy to defend the six ordinary day creation doctrine.

Ex 20:11: "For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. "

Amen! Yes he did. He is telling Israel they should follow His example. Just as God made the heavens and the earth in six God days and rested on the seventh God day so they should work six earth days and rest on the seventh earth day. This is an analogy and is clearly shown to be one in the creation account.

(3) In the days of the ministry of Jesus on earth Jesus clearly tells us who He came to minister to.

Matt 15:24: "I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. "

Matt 10:5-6: "Do not go into the way of the Gentiles . . . But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. "

Often I wonder why so many want to say Jesus preached and prophesied of the Church and the catching up of the Church in the Gospels. Neither Jesus, nor the apostles, were concentrated on the Church during the time of the ministry of Jesus on earth. Very little is said in the Gospels pertaining to the Church. Most of what Jesus did say pertaining to the Church is found in John 14:1-4 and Matt 16:16-19.

Jesus was ministering to Israel and His prophesies were about things to come in Israel's future.

Yes, Jesus completed all the works for salvation of the world. The church was grafted in and began on the day of Pentecost which is recorded in Acts Chap 2.

(4) Very little in the OT or the Gospels pertain to the Church Age. However, both the OT and the Gospels are given us for our learning. Without a knowledge of the OT and the Gospels it would be impossible to gain any comprehension of The Revelation which is clearly given to the Church.

(5) Jesus wants us to know when the time is near (Matt 24:32-33). He wants us to know and understand the signs of the times. He has given them to us for our learning.

Jesus scolded Israel for not knowing the time of His coming (Luke 19:41-44). Like wise, He wants us to be discerning of when the time is near. No one knows the exact day or time, however we are to watch and always be expecting.

I simply believe what He says .

Blessings in the name of Jesus,
Tch

  Tch,

I also simply believe the word of God. I may not fully understand it always but I accept it to the limit of my understanding with confidence that God will reveal the fullness to me in His timing. In the meantime, I believe it by faith and place my confidence in the wisdom of God. His word is not complicated or difficult to understand unless we approach it in human wisdom. Jesus said His words were spirit and truth. They can only be spiritually discerned. "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." I Corinthians 2:14. When we approach the word of God from a humanistic point of view we mess up the works and when anyone takes the truth of God's word and manipulate it by adding or subtracting from it, they transform it into a lie. You said one can "begin twisting things around so they fit into a doctrine". I agree we have to close our ears to what the Holy Spirit is really saying to do that. Twisting of the truth will always lead us away from the Holy Spirit and instead turn us directly to the source of untruth, to the liar and the father of lies. Twisting of truth is exactly what the devil did in the garden and with Christ in the desert temptation. He is doing the same thing in these last days so he can deceive as many as possible. We must all be very careful not to fall into this trap. There is a lot of pressure to conform to the prevailing "politically correct" opinions and many Christians are being seduced by his lies. However, no Christian wants to accept the fact that he is the source of these popular doctrinal errors.

This blog speaks the truth. God's plan for Israel will be completed just as He intended. No manner of twisting to satisfy any religious doctrinal opinions can change the truth of God's immutable word. His perfect will is clear in the word to any who have an ear to hear. His eternal plan for Israel can not be stopped by any subtly twisted lie and we will all see His prophesies fulfilled. Thank you for taking a bold stance for truth. To God be the glory.

Kogfamily . . . thank you for your inspired contribution. You stated:

A huge Amen to that! God's revelation of truth is a progressive revelation. We begin with milk then as we grow and mature He reveals more and more to us. Many times from the very same Scripture we have focused on many times in the past.

God bless you and I pray God continues revealing His mysteries to you.

  Tch,

God in His wonderful grace and mercy is leading me by His Holy Spirit through some of the most trying times of my life right now. It's a time that's requiring my total focus on and trust in the faithfulness of God's word. I talked about hearing the voice of God in a couple of blogs but He's teaching me that when I can't hear him in a time of trial, I must trust the reliability of what He has already spoken in His word. This lesson must be learned to be spiritually mature. It's fiery in intense yet sweetly invigorating! Sometimes I am on the very edge of tears but by the mercy of God break out instead in a praise to Him. In these times I am learning how to preach myself happy and as David did at Ziklag, encourage myself in the Lord!

God bless you Tch for being such a tower of uncompromising truth at CB. God uses you in ways you may not know. I have no doubt that many blessed by your powerful messages remain in the shadows without posting a response. Even so, be encouraged by this scripture In Isaiah 55:10,11
"10For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

In Him,

You know I can't say I disagree with you or your study habits. Good stuff with a good foundation and thinking.
There are areas in study I turn to a variety of experts because sometimes I want to know the history, geography, customs. For instance Jesus moves around a lot and He said certain things in specific places, why. God does the same thing in the O.T., why a certain Mountain, why specific places time and again. We don't always know and some are best guess with logic from much study but I enjoy it.

When it comes to what is written I copy your study habits, Holy Spirit, the Word, and me.

With this I do enjoy understanding the language and the people chosen by the Holy Spirit to speak through. I have several translation tools and enjoy the text critical arguments. I don't have much time anymore to keep up with these studies.

In the end it boils down to what God says. It isn't always necessary I understand what I read in scripture but it is important I am careful not to add or take away from it, not to filter it through my own limited understanding, it is okay to have questions and ask questions - to seek understanding.

We must always remember, however we study, it is real and it is life.

Good post.

Amen brother.

We are given this warning in the Revelation. Many believe it applies only to the Revelation. From my perspective, the principle it communicates applies to the entire Holy Text, from the first word in Genisis to the last word in the Revelation.

I do very much agree that we do not add, or take away, from what the text 'actually' says. And I will stop there. Brother, I love you in Jesus Christ, we are His. Grace, mercy, and peace to you, in Christ. God Bless.
