forget the past so you can have a future

I know a lot of people who have trouble with their past (me being one of them). The past just brings back bad memories, and sometimes we wonder how God could forgive us and love us again. And how other people can see us and still love us knowing what happened in our past.

But it is one of the lies the devil likes to use, he likes to try to get us to focus on ourselves.

See the thing is, if we have asked for forgiveness...and are TRUELY sorry for it, then we are forgiven. We have no reason to focus on it. Christ's blog has cleansed us...we are not covered in dirt anymore we are washed clean by His blood.

Yes, the passt has left us scared, but those scars are there to remind us what not to do and to remind of (MOST IMPORTANTLY) of God's grace, love , and mercy.

We need to move on from our past and work towards our future...we need to do God's will and reach out, and satan is just trying to hold us back.

Don't let the devil drag you into lies about your past, and that its not forgiven. He wants your focus off God and he will use whatever he knows will push your buttons. He doesn't care what it is...he'll use it...thats just like the devil, he want us to keep our focus off of God and unto ourselves or whatever else he can.

I love your blog. For a long time I was upset because my friends would talk about all their fantastic childhood memories and I could only think of my bad ones. Finally I began to pray, I forgave those who hurt me and I asked God to forgive them too. I now live my life only in the present, occasionally looking back on joyful childhood memories.

Thanks Golden, for your insight. You are 100% right! It is the enemy who keeps us remembering the past. 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

I have been pondering in a similar vein all morning and will post about it later.

YSIC,
Grace

A lot of us could have had better childhoods. I would say learn from that, and do better than your parents did. Do forgive, and forget, like you say, but now is the time where we have a relationship with our Lord, nothing else can detract from that?
