God Is EVERYTHING. I am NOTHING.

God is EVERYTHING. I am nothing.

Everytime I turn around, read my Bible, go to church, or even read a Christian fiction book, God confronts me with this... He is everything, yet I am nothing.

Romans 3:9-12:

[9]What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; [10]As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: [11]There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. [12]They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Romans 7:16-19:

[16]If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. [17]Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. [18]For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. [19]For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

There is none of us who do good. We are worthless. There is nothing we can do to earn God's love, brownie points, or grace. NOTHING. We are all sinners, and even as Christians we still sin everyday of our life. None of us are "holier" then the next person. We are not higher then the sinner on the street. The only difference is we are forgiven and bond to heaven.

We have to stop looking at ourselves like we are something so special and that we can do things to get God's blessing, an extra bit of grace, or more love from Him. It was a free gift from Him, there is NOTHING we can do that will get us more.

C.S. Lewis said in his book The Great Divorce:
Quote:
There is but one good; that is God. Everything else is good when it looks to Him and bad when it turns from Him.

The ONLY way we can do good, the only way we can honor God, the only way we can truly love God, is too look to Him for our goodness, look to His Word to see how we can honor Him, look to His example of love to see how to love others. We must look to Him ans ubmit our ways to Him. He is EVERYTHING

He is everything we need to live a godly life. He is everything we need to be a servent onto others. We cannot do anything by ourselves. BUt we must first look to God and keep our eyes on Him. We can do nothing... unless we have Christ.

Quote:
...No natural feelings are high or low, holy or unholy, in themselves. They are all holy when God's hand is on the rein. They all go bad when they set up on their own and make themselves into false gods.
C. S. Lewis The Great Divorce

That is exactly what we do with our feelings without God. If we hand God the reins to our feelings. Ask Him what we should do with them, He will show us the BEST thing we can do. Only God can make us holy.

Only Christ Blood that was shed for us can save us. No thing that we do. No tithe, no good work. No special prayer. It is only Christ. His death, His resurection.

Ephesians 2:8-9:

[8]For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9]Not of works, lest any man should boast.

So, no one is higher then the other. We are all joint heirs in Christ. We are equal.

Galatians 3:26-29:

[26]For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. [27]For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. [28]There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. [29]And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

But alone, without God, we are nothing. The only way we can really relate to someone who is unsaved, the only way we can relate to a Christian brother or sister who si struggling, is by using things that God brought us through, using our weakness for His glory, helping them by showing our faults and what GOD has done to make it better. God is everything. We are nothing.

We just have to be humble enough to admit that first to God. Then use it for His glory. He uses the weak things to be strong, the foollish things to be wise.

1 Corinthians 1:27-29
[27]But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; [28]And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: [29]That no flesh should glory in his presence.

We have to admit, that without Christ we are nothing.

Great blog, this is something that is hard to do. I like to remind myself that without God I am a sack of dust. I am worthless, but He who lives within me has made me righteous. Thank you for sharing this with me.

Hey Golden, great blog. I totally agree with everything, but just remember, we're not worthless. God doesn't hate people, He hates sin! God is no respecter of men, and that means that we are all equal in God's eyes. If we were worthless He never would have sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for us and become sin for us to that we might have everlasting life with Him is His kingdom! I've had to tell myself that numerous times, that I'm not worthless. You hear about near death experiences where folks come back telling about how they needed to come back or were told to come back because there are people who are still here that need them. Everyone has worth, even people who are mentally deficient, at least as we see them, who I believe will be before me in God's kingdom. Great blog, thanks and God bless you!

Amen! awsome blog! very encouraging and humbling. I believe that believeinjesus was also right, but it's on a different scale... we ARE worthless, when we do not look at what God has for us, through Jesus Christ. Without that, we are worthless. When we stand alone, are worthless. Let God reign in our lives and get the glory! for HE is great and worthy to be praised! Good blog again youaregolden!

Godbless Peaceoutt;

"My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
2 Corinthians 12:9

God's greatness and power are manifested through our utter and complete weakness. About the greatest lesson to learn I life I reckon.
Thanks for reminding us of this great truth.

God felt that we were worthy enough for His Son to die a cruel death on the cross, for atonement for our sins, praise God. For that reason we have worth, but when we allow our pride to swell up, we begin to think we are all that and forget that if Jesus did not come, live, die and rise again, our lives would be chaff. We must always remember that all we are, all that we have, everything comes from God, and He gets the credit, not me, it is His Glory! Ever see someone strutting their stuff, full of pride and conceit? It used to really get to me, but now it saddens me, this person is taking credit for the very thing God gave them. It's about Jesus. Great blog Sam! I love the quotes, I will have to read that book ! Love, Mom
