Hi Sisters and Brothers in Christ, My name is Dorothy. I am a mother of 2 daughters and 1 son and the grandmother of 3 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. I grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota. My background includes being raised as a Lutheran. After surrendering and committing my self and my life to Jesus in 2001, I no longer consider myself part of any denomination. I am a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. For 35 years, I worked with a Minnesota State Historic Site, the W. W. Mayo House. This is the Mayo family of Mayo Clinic history. I was a tour guide, then site manager and finally for some 22 years, executive director. Recently, I retired. My husband, unexpectedly, retired shortly after I did. We are at the stage of adjusting to each other being at home. I spend much time every week caring for grandchildren. My greatest desire is to devote the rest of my life to serving, glorifying and pleasing God. See testimony submitted.
I was raised in a traditional protestant church and when asked at the time of confirmation if I accepted Jesus as my Savior, I said yes, but was not really sure. I certainly believed that Jesus Christ was the Son of God and I believed He died and was raised from the dead for the forgiveness of sins. But, I did sense something was missing. What was missing was the committment needed to make Jesus Christ my Lord as well as my Savior. God audibly called out my name in March of 2001. The Holy Spirit worked in earnest to woo me to Jesus Christ. On October 2, 2001, at the age of 56, I whole heartedly repented and totally surrendered and committed my self and the rest of my life to serving and following Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit quickened my spirit and came that night to live within me. What an awesome born again experience. I was and am filled with hunger for the Word of God and for His truth. I experienced then and still a strong desire to know more and more of God. I was awakened with a sense of urgency as if God had something He wanted me to do. Earnestly in prayer I sought to know what it was He wanted me to do. Three weeks later, October 27, 2001, the Holy Spirit spoke this assignment: "-Minister to His Children - Focus on the young (in Christ) - These little ones will become lights in the darkness - Expose the work of Satan - Focus on Eternity - Evangelistic in nature - Far reaching - Five years" The Holy Spirit put into me the sense that I was to earnestly seek knowledge and understanding from God. Jesus through the work of the Holy Spirit has been faithfully seeding and growing His knowledge and bringing to my inner most being understanding that I believe "the Church" truly needs. As the Holy Spirit guides me, through witnessing, personal testimony and various writings, I have been sharing knowledge and understanding with others. I am looking forward to being a part of this Christian Blog network. All Thanks and Praise to our Lord and Savior.
Update May of 2011 - I have embarked on a three year study returning to school with the intention of becoming a pastor with Assemblies of God.
