i am very confused
i am working in a call center. our work usually starts at night.. i've been in the company for one and a half year.. it isn't easy to sleep during daytime considering our weather here..it is a tropical country i lived in..and it is summer season over here, it is really hot ..i am totally sick and tired of working during night time..luckily we had a project which has one slot for day shift..so i grabbed the opportunity to have it..by the way we have shifting of schedules. so, lucky i am if i get the chance to picked the day shift..but we can exchange it with our co-agent if it suits our need..i had the schedule for four consecutive months..and now here comes May, i got the night shift again ..i can't bear to think that i have to go back with my night life..i am no longer used to it..it is much easier to sleep during night. i am thinking of resigning but hesitant as well.. i am helping my parents to send my sister in her schooling.. she is now on her last year on college nursing.. i am fully aware that my...

I believe I am going to quit my job. I came home today frustrated and unsettled again. Another Sunday will be spent working instead of in church. I spend so much time at work and the work is so demanding that when I get home I am so exausted. My house is probably going to be condemmed. Their is not a single glass clean. There are even dirty clothes in the living room. Trash is piled up every where. The whole thing looks like something you would see on T.V. One of those homes they show and everyone watching goes EWWWWW that is appalling. I was thinking of my boss's reaction when I presented her with a schedule I had made. Every one would work five days a week. Every one would have 2 days off. However it would mean she would have to work 4 days on the floor like one of us lowly cooks. Not forever, just till we hired someone. She told me that would not work because she needed to be able to take care of her family. I thought about this. We are all working more shifts and longer hours. So she can take care...

Gathering Some Thoughts... |

So i've been praying and thinking a lot about this whole "working with girls" thing over the past few weeks / months.
I thought this might be a good place to just gather some thoughts and get some clarity - what God's told me, what the bible says, what my passions are, what the needs are...I dunno, just stuff!
I know that God's called me to work with girls. But what does He want me to do...?
These are the main thing's i've felt have been on my heart as i've prayed and seeked God::
1) To give girls a hope - show them there is a future, a life, a greater existence; that sex, drink and drugs are not happiness.
2) To give girls the opportunity to have some girl-on-girl time, to be there for them, to be a support in their lives - someone who won't abuse or hurt them.
3) Show them that it's ok to make mistakes and have a messed up past, cause there's forgiveness - to encourage them to live in Christ, not condemnation.
4) To reach the girlies that don't know God, and show them His love and grace
5) To encourage girlies...

finding work in seattle |

several months ago, the company i worked for closed their seattle branch. they gave us less then 3 weeks notice and a very small severance. the whole thing came as quite a shock to our entire work team.
shortly after the loss of my job, my credit was ruined because i didn't have enough money to pay bills and the creditors...
i have been looking for a suitable job but have yet to find one. my unemployment compensation runs out at the end of february and i am deeply concerned and depressed!!!
i have never been in this situation before and i feel very alone (my family and friends are all on the east coast) and afraid.
today, i just saw a man and his 2 dogs evicted in the apartment building next door(run by the same landlord as my building)...i felt so sorry for him and selfishly terrified at the same time, as i only have enough money to pay my rent through the month of march!
i know that we are not supposed to worry... but i find myself SERIOUSLY struggling financially and i feel completely overwhelmed. in this situation, i am finding it very difficult to "let...

The Need for More Good People in the Workplace |

The Need for More Good People in the Workplace
The modern workplace has so many things which dissatisfy people. What is even more amazing is that this is in spite of all the teaching, training, re-training, coaching and mentoring that has been talked and taught in this generation. In fact, in the last 50 years more has been taught about being the best employee, the best manager, than in all the generations of the past centuries combined!
So then, what is the problem? Why do we have so much job dissatisfaction? Why do we have the traditional employee loyalty this time at the rock bottom? Go to any of these good hotels in town and this paradox will accentuate in your mind even further. You will with your own eyes see one of the modern diseases; some have called it ‘workshopaisis'. Sorry for this too much meanness on my part. It is not a disease. It is people getting knowledge. It is a knowledge transfer environment and the many people with different kinds and colours of badges on their chests are only disciples of different knowledge masters and gurus.
The real problem with the workplace of this generation therefore is...

Update on Situation with Pastor's Wife |

Hello I have an update from my first blog about the situation my husband and I faced concerning the youth group and our pastor's wife. My husband and I came up with a list of goals and new guidelines for our conference trip and arranged a meeting with the pastor and wife. After dinner we gave them our list and discussed each one with them. In the one concerning chaperones we announced that we would like to pick our own chaperones and ask people who are directly involved with the youth ministries. (She has no part with any of the youth ministries) We felt like this was a gentle way to tip toe around the subject without coming out and saying we don't want you to go. Nothing was said, nothing was changed, the pastor agreed with our list. She didn't have anything to say about it. We did include on the list that we would still like help raising funds and helping sort paper work and deadlines for money. That was our way to include her but also letting her know that we wanted to take charge of this year's trip. (For the past two years it has been...

on my experience with work |

I have worked in secular business for all of my career. My three experiences of working for Christian owners may have actually been worse, as in two cases the business was on shaky profitability ground, and, in the other case, in was my own business, and I knew exactly where I stood profitability-wise, i.e. in negative ground looking up. Anyway,
in some of the world's work, it was an excellent place to be in regard to being a witness of Jesus, and other places
it was not. All too many places, the job turned out to be all too short term, as when one gets inside, the ethics of the business was questionable, to say the least.
I am more and more coming to the conclusion that, as North American society becomes less and less influenced by our Christian heritage, we the church (and you may interpret that as either us individuals as a group, or local expressions of the Body, or groups of local churches) will need to take greater and more direct interest in our brothers and sisters occupational choices, so as to help each other be a witness for Jesus. I see this most clearly expressed in...

I work for a Christian book publishing company in Eugene, OR. They are a great company and I've met a lot of great friends here, but sometimes I think working in an almost all Christian environment is not always a good thing. First of all, it's easy to lose touch with the rest of the world here. Everybody acts so nice and polite. If I went to a secular workplace, I would probably get chewed up and spit out. Ha!
Seriously though, sometimes I feel so removed from what's going on around me. I read my Bible, pray, but I miss that interaction with people who have different beliefs. My wife and I have started teaching 4th and 5th graders on Wednesday nights at my church and it has really opened my eyes again to the fact that there is a hurting world out there who needs Jesus. More to follow later.
Peace,
Alvadore Guy...

Thankful in Oklahoma |

I'm so thankful to live in Oklahoma at this time. This state is still one that is mostly evangelical Christian. I work in a bank in a small town. Our CEO actually begins each monthly employee with a devotion; a Scripture reading and a prayer. We all enjoy it! Most of us are christian, and we absolutely love this and thank God for it. We are able to display a cross and Scripture from our desks and our walls to our customers. No customer has expressed displeasure at it yet; quite the opposite. This is the way it should be, and I thank God I live and work in a place where the right way is still prevailing....

Working for a Godly Company |

I praise God for the company I work for because it is a Christ center management / leadership. It is a medium/large construction company. The owner and president shares his faith at staff meetings and personally when the opportunity arrises.
I worked for this company for 6 years and then left to work at a boys home in OK. When God released us from our work in the boys home I called back here and my old job was still available. I was welcomed back with open arms and a luncheon. God is good - all the time!
The president has told me a couple of times that it is a real blessing to have me back. I like that. The company also provides for 3 hours a month for volunteer work that is paid time. Whether donating at the Red Cross or working at the rescue mission our time is covered.
The president is also very heavy into supporting the local community charities and even when times are slow he does not stop his giving. God has blessed him for it.
I think there is nothing better than working for a Christian company. I would like to here why...
