A List Of Aggressive Phrases
Posted by:  abelajohnb   (Posted: 06/18/2009 5:07am)
Hello Everybody, I have been working on an new feature for ChristianBlog.Com that will help us flag certain messages that contains what appears to be aggressive/hate speech. As many of you may know I already developed a very sweet autonomous and AI-based system system that allows us (actually, the website software itself) to highly control the suspending of content and people who setout to cause harm. It has been self-learning for the better part of a year now and it rocks. Something that I have been wanting to do for awhile now is to take the same brilliant AI (self learning) system I already developed and morph it a bit to see if it can learn how to detect when people are posting stuff that is aggressive in nature. At this point I have most of the software end of things completed and it is time to start seeding the software with some initial aggressive, harmful, and mean-spirited phrases. The key word here is "phrases" and not "word". Yes, this is going to work based upon phrases and not individual words! If it works, I will be one of the few in the industry who have made this actually work,...

Twittering interesting or odd?
Posted by:  treetop76   (Posted: 06/03/2009 2:33am)
Ok so I got a twitter account because I read the blog here about twitter. I have tried it, and I do not know anyone on it other than christian blog. I looked people up and all the people who were true friends that I had on myspace are not on twitter. So I emailed them to see if they wanted to come over. No was most of the answers. They said it was hard enough keeping up with their myspace, to add in twitter would be hard. I dont go to myspace anymore, I deleted my account, and came here. Since being here, I have met some amazing people, and felt the love of the Lord present in the chatroom, and in every blog I have read. I have read prayer requests, praise requests, and random blogs. And everytime, no matter what the subject is, I feel God present and working in the lives of everyone here. Thank you to everyone who makes this site possible, and Thank you to google who helped me find this site. I dont regret joining, and the people here are awesome. Just wish more of you twittered as well. Tree...

Interested in Christian Politics? Sneak Preview At My Next Website!
Posted by:  abelajohnb   (Posted: 05/21/2009 10:42am)
Hello Everybody, Forgive the blatant advertisement here... but, I guess seeing how I own the ChristianBlog.Com I can get away with this For the last week or so I have been working on a new website that is devoted to Christians who are interested in blogging about politics. Over the last three years it has become clear to me that the www.ChristianBlog.Com is just not a good place for generalized blogging about politics from a Christian point of view. I think some of this is because we have been pretty tight about what is allowed and not allowed, but I also think it is because people realize that perhaps ChristianBlog.Com is just not the right place to "talk politics" - even from a Christian perspective. So, I decided to give it a shot and see if we can make a success new website that is 100% totally devoted to Christians blogging about politics! Does that sound fun and interesting? If so head over to: <a href="http://www.christianblog.com/offsite.php?url=http://www.GodBeforeCaesar.Com/" class="NormText" rel="nofollow" title="Offsite Link" target="_blank">http://www.GodBeforeCaesar.Com/</a><a href="http://www.GodBeforeCaesar.Com/" title="Offsite Link" target="_blank"></a> At this point the website (seems) to be working 100% without any bugs... but I make no promises... It always take a little bit of...

Tips For Growing Your Social Community!
Posted by:  abelajohnb   (Posted: 04/30/2009 11:21am)
Tips For Growing Your Social Community! 386 days ago I wrote a blog entitled 'Tips for being a better blogger' which I wrote to help out a newer members of the ChristianBlog.Com Community with some basic "how to blog" questions. Over the last year I have had a lot of people suggest I write some follow-up blogs to that blog, with topics ranging from "how to get your blogs listed higher in google" (which will hopefully be my next major blog I write) to "how to get more friends" and things along those lines. As I have thought about the suggestions for new blogs I think this is an appropriate time for a new blog about how to expand your sphere of contacts/friends here at ChristianBlog.Com. I think this is a very good time to write a blog about that topic because ChristianBlog.Com is getting closer and closer to a point where if you are not a "friend/contact" of others, you'll never be able to contact them, see their stuff, and so-on-and-so-forth, what with the changes in how the website works in regards to minors, the protection of galleries and groups, the removal of bulletins and shoutouts due to depreciation...

We just can't thank God enough for everything...!
Posted by:  tohimbeglory   (Posted: 03/31/2009 3:35pm)
We are just so thankful to God for his kind successes in our blogs. We've explored subjects that were quite hidden from view. Our buffet of topics range from all sorts of things and something for everyone it seems. Some have been difficult and some straight foward. But it seem that each one is talking to someone even one person. And we are thankful for that because, the Passover meal was not just about broken bread, which we've explored and divided Gods word to share, and it's not just about the bubbly wine, the joy of the holy spirit. Jesus also wrapped a towel around his waist and started and finished washing the dicipile feet and that was part of the Passover meal as well. And that why we are so thankful to God for his Premier gift and what he alone has done with it. Somewhere along the line we lost direction and we did not know what subject the Lord wanted to touch on but we asked our freinds at church to pray for us and the gift came back to explore Gods word and have more of the bread and the wine of undersanding and joy to...

Logos Bible Software
Posted by:  abelajohnb   (Posted: 03/19/2009 10:55am)
Hello Everbody! As many of you know, ChristianBlog.Com has been using the "RefTagger" feature that allows you to have the ability to quickly view a Bible verse by simply moving your mouse over any red-highlighted Bible verses. This has been a great addition to ChristianBlog.Com and it is something I use myself almost every time I am reading a blog that has references to Scripture! One of the features of the RefTagger is called "Enable Logos Libronix" which is a feature we have turned off by default, but is very sweet for those who use the Libronix software! The Libronix software is the heart of the "Logos Bible Software" that is the #1 rated Bible software in the world. For anybody who has any of the Logos software installed, you should really take a moment and enable the feature called "Enable Logos Libronix" because doing so will allow you to very quickly start up the Logos software and have it directly take you to the given Bible verse within the Logos software itself! Very cool feature! Logos Bible Software: Awhile back I was given a copy of the "Scholar's Library" edition of the Logos Bible Software. I have spent the...

Why I Will No Longer Be Using Facebook!
Posted by:  abelajohnb   (Posted: 02/04/2009 3:00pm)
Why I Will No Longer Be Using Facebook! I very rarely talk about other websites, because it is typically not an acceptable course of action when one website owner starts talking about another website. It is just a frowned upon action throughout the industry. However, over the course of the last few months as Facebook has gotten more and more popular and more and more folks are starting to use it, I've had more and more requests from people I know to start using it myself more. Yes, I have an account at Facebook. No, I do not log into it every day. No, I do not even log into it once a week. Heck, sometimes I even go a month or more without logging into that website. To me ChristianBlog.Com has almost everything I am after in a website. So, why do I not use Facebook when it seems like half the world is using it? For the same exact reason I never used myspace! Advertisements with +80% naked women. Sure I am a guy, and thus one would think that nature would have me wanting to look at almost naked women, but guess what... I don't visit social...

more thoughts on technology and the beast (pt 2)
Posted by:  jessicasperry   (Posted: 01/25/2009 4:48pm)
I also came across this today and thought it was worth adding to my theory on how the internet could be used to project a holographic image of the Beast per Revelation. The pieces just keep coming together. "President Barack Obama was sworn into office this week as our nation's 44th president. Despite running into a few technical challenges in the first few days at the White House, the Obama Administration will embrace technology in unprecedented ways. Led by forward thinking, web savvy technologists, President Obama's new media team looks poised and ready to fulfill President Obama's vision of open-source democracy. Coincident with Mr. Obama being sworn in, the Obama Administration's new media team assumed control of WhiteHouse.gov at 12:01 PM EST on Tuesday. This is the official website of the sitting administration. The new media team has identified three top priorities of the new administration - communication, transparency and participation. Let's examine how the new administration has been leveraging web technologies to meet these priorities. Communication. This administration's use of Google's YouTube during both the campaign and after winning the election leverages Internet video to reach a generation of Americans and global citizens who no longer tune in to...

How fast is fast enough
Posted by:  daddy3may2005   (Posted: 01/16/2009 7:36pm)
Being new to the ChristianBlog site I would first like to start off by introducing myself a little so you have a little background about me to understand where I am coming from. My name is Adam and I work for a major communication company out in Arizona. I have been in technology for many years and have an enormous knowledge of the field. (I will introduce myself better in a separate blog ) Recently I came across an article that announced the new standard for Cable Internet providers to provide download speeds of over 300 Mbps. This is 6 times faster than the fastest home internet service I can find on the internet now and 200 times faster than the standard 1.5 Mbps internet connections in most homes now. During my research I came across a lot of speculation about the costs of the equipment and services. Some state the equipment will be around $300 and the services about the same in monthly costs, if they are even offered. This made me ask myself... How fast is fast enough. Companies are investing money (Lots I am sure) in to this technology, that is going to make services faster and...

teaching religion in textbooks
Posted by:  findsfaithwhereitfindsme   (Posted: 11/03/2008 10:06pm)
this is my first blog, today i was doing homework for a class called regional world studies and the section i was reading from was about christianity and how it was spread in the roman empire. I didn't read much of it because it felt ofensive to me. it just seemed like it was explaining a "religion" that "some" people believe in. It was ofense to me because i am a christian and i have these beliefs and them being expalined in a textbook like that make me feel like who ever wrote it only knew the facts of christianity but wasn't a christian themselves. whoever reads this may think that i'm making a big deal about this, but if something is bothering you won't you go tell someone? the reason i found this website is because i needed to tell someone about what i read, and further blog about things i believe in and inspirational things i find in everyday life....

Disable Downloading of Files in Internet Explorer
Posted by:  abelajohnb   (Posted: 10/31/2008 4:02pm)
For security reasons one might want to disable or block downloading through Internet Explorer. There could be several other reasons for this including building a secure Internet environment, protecting your PC from malicious files, making it so your children cannot download stuff, or just to protect yourself if you are one of those overtly paranoid type of people. I have tested this on IE 6 and IE 7, under both Windows XP and Windows Vista. Copy and paste the following into notepad and save it as disable_ie_downloading.reg: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\3] "1803"=dword:00000000 Then run the disable_ie_downloading.reg file. You should see a screen such as: Click, "Yes". Then you should see a screen such as this: Then you will need to restart your computer. After applying this setting trying to download anything will present you with this message: If you wish to change the setting back repeat the process above with this value: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\3] "1803"=dword:00000003 Here are the specific settings for this registry change: 0 = downloads not allowed 3 = downloads are allowed If you desire to disable internet browsing all together see my blog entitled Disable Internet Access in Windows...

Christian TV
Posted by:  starpage85   (Posted: 05/01/2008 4:24pm)
There are many different websites these days that offer free online TV. Many of them offer sections about Religion and different channels including many Christian Channels. I find they are a good way to learn about Christianity and offers more selection than regular cable tv and more opportunity to learn about religion and to choose what you are watching. Regular cable doesn't really offer religion channels and dedicates most of their channels to things like reality TV. As our society reads less, especially younger children and teenagers, I think this is a good way for people to be able to get the information they want in a place that is easy and uncomplicated. More channels should be dedicated to Christian teachings. Here are some good sites for free online TV where you can watch Christian channels: www.tvweb360.com www.freewebtv.net www.livetvcentre.com My favourite is the first one just because it's easier to use and not so much popups. Enjoy!...

God works through everything...even facebook
Posted by:  ru07nik   (Posted: 01/02/2008 5:15pm)
I know it sounds odd but God really does work everywhere. I decided that I needed to delete my ex from everything...I am very angry with him and myself. I am angry with him because I feel as though I was lead on AND he kept telling me you are a pretty girl...you will find someone else. First of all great I am a pretty girl...actually I am a nice woman. If you think I am pretty on the outside fine with me, it is the pretty on the inside that I am most proud of thank you very much. My pretty insides have come from one thing, God. He took my ugly broken insides and is making me a good person. One who cares for people and is nice to people all the time. Which is VERY different from what I used to be. I am angry with myself for letting this take over my life...and it did. I am not doing well in school AT ALL...which is very unlike me. I am appealing things and begging for another chance with my Masters. I cannot believe that I let this consume my life. So God working through facebook...I deleted...

Disable Internet Access in Windows For Specific User Accounts
Posted by:  abelajohnb   (Posted: 12/14/2007 6:14pm)
This How-To will allow you to disable the internet from being accessed on selected user accounts within Windows XP and Windows Vista. This is often times useful to parents who need/want to lock down their computers. For instance, a parent might want to allow a child to access the computer itself, but not access the internet. This is also often times useful for IT Mangers to lock down computers within their network from accessing the internet. Of course, there are better ways to do this on a network level, but it has its purpose in certian situations. It should be noted that all accounts that you apply this to are set as "Limited Accounts" and not setup as "Administrators". The reason for setting the user account to a "limited account" is to make sure that nobody can install software. You do not want somebody to simply download and install another browser (firefox, opera, safari, etc) as that will defeat all of this. This process only kills the internet for Internet Explorer. So, if you have any of those other browsers installed, you will want to take steps to keep only the Administrator Account from using those programs. (all of the...

As MySpace Continues To Get Hacked, ChristianBlog.Com Continues To Protect You!
Posted by:  abelajohnb   (Posted: 11/09/2007 8:37am)
As MySpace Continues To Get Hacked, ChristianBlog.Com Continues To Protect You! It was all over the news yesterday... myspace got hacked (again)! This time the hackers hit some big-name profiles with reports like Alicia Keys Victimized By MySpace Hack were pretty much the talk of the day (besides the on-going debate between the GPhone and the iPhone, of course) Typically, and in the past, hackers wanting to deface MySpace have used simple technology such as iframes, cross-site-scripting, and spoofing uploaded photographs as program files not actually photographs. This time around it seems the hackers used a really huge photograph (8000x1000 pixels in size) with a link attached to it. Anytime somebody clicked anywhere on the myspace page that was not a link to somewhere else, the linked-photograph redirected the person to a website in China (now offline) which encouraged the user to download some software that contained the malicious code. Security researcher Roger Thompson seems to be one of the first people to figure out what was done and has a video posted about it. Here at ChristianBlog.Com we have yet to have ANY of the aforementioned security breaches happen - and to the best of our knowledge we have...

www.Eashoa.Com -- A Personal and Private Journal
Posted by:  abelajohnb   (Posted: 07/09/2007 1:00am)
Hello All, Over the last few weeks I have been slowly working on a website that I have wanted to do for a very long time... an online journal system that is totally private, and specifically designed for dreams, prayers, and a personal journal. I have used my domain www.Eashoa.Com for this new website! The English name "Jesus Christ" in the true Ancient Aramaic-Hebrew language is pronounced: Ea-shoa' M'shee-kha Eashoa' means "the Life-Giver" M'sheekha means "the Anointed One" Eashoa' M'sheekha means "The Anointed Life-Giver" About www.Eashoa.Com At one time, a number of years ago, I created a website that was specifically for recording your dreams. However, I went overboard with the amount of features and it was a horrible flop. It was totally cool for somebody totally into dreams, but the average person is not that hard-core, so, I took it offline. I have also been wanting a quick way to record my personal prayers. As any prayer warrior will tell you, documenting and tracking your prayers are very important! Being able to go back and not only pray over past prayers, but to meditate on how God has used you in prayer, is totally awesome! In over 15 years...

Yahoo Closes Out Yahoo! Photos I received the following notification today and wanted to pass along the info. If you are using Yahoo! Photos ya best hop on over there and get those precious moments transfered. Adding Photos to your blogs can be alot of fun and these photo sites can help out with that storage. Remember that you can always store "the best of the best" ones here at CB and by using the Premier Membership you can store even more right in your CB Gallery! Blessings, GB Yahoo! Photo TeamDear Yahoo! Photos user, For some time now, we've supported two great photo sharing services: Yahoo! Photos and Flickr. But even good things come to an end, and we've decided to close Yahoo! Photos to focus all our efforts on Flickr - the award-winning photo sharing community that TIME Magazine has called "completely addictive." We will officially close Yahoo! Photos on Thursday, September 20, 2007, at 9 p.m. PDT. Until then, we are offering you the opportunity to move to another photo sharing service (Flickr, KODAK Gallery, Shutterfly, Snapfish, or Photobucket), download your original-resolution photos back to your computer, or buy an archive CD from our featured partner (for...

ChristianBlog: In the Beginning
Posted by:  greybear   (Posted: 06/15/2007 10:12am)
I had taken a few minutes today to scroll back through the pages of Blog posts here at CB. I was a bit curious what folks were blogging about and if I had missed some "good" ones. As I began the task of rolling back the pages of time here, I found joy in the many names that have become so familiar to the site. The variety of subjects they had posted on and the abundance of comments on some of the good ones I remember especially enjoying reading. As I continued to roll back the pages, I thought to myself, "Holy mackerel, how many pages are there?" In lue of just rolling back a single page at a time, I began shortcutting the process by simply changing the page number in the browser line. 50 pages, 75 pages, 100, 150, and final narrowing it down to 155 pages as of today. By the time most have read this it will have grown even more. So whether you are new or old to the site, take a stroll down the lane of yest'er year here at CB and roll back the page to the beginning and see just how it...

Kinds of Blogs
Posted by:  greybear   (Posted: 02/28/2007 5:50am)
Kinds of Blogs This is not a complete list, but rather just some of the types of Blogs I gleaned from the web that you might like to try out yourself. I tossed in a few examples as well. some better than others. • Informational or Instructional - This is one of the more common blog post types where you simply give information on a topic. It could be a definition post or a longer explanation of how to do something. Disable Yahoo! and Google Toolbars From Loading In IE7 Flat Bread (Indonesian) What is the Torah • Reviews or Case Study - Reviews on virtually every product or service you can think of. Give your fair and insightful opinion - reviews can be highly powerful posts that have a great longevity. YWAM 2007 Personal Prayer Diary and Daily Planner More evidence... A Life of Faith Series • Lists - One of the easiest ways to write a post is to make a list. Posts like ‘The Top Twenty ways to... ', ‘ 100 Favorite ... ', are usually popular. Start with a brief list and expand each point as a phrase or paragraph. Movies of Christ Anniversary Gift Ideas...

Disable Yahoo! and Google Toolbars From Loading In IE7
Posted by:  abelajohnb   (Posted: 01/23/2007 9:58pm)
I maintain a number of networks for local churches and para-church ministries, and am constantly dealing with problems that arise because of people installing stuff on computers that they shouldn't be installing stuff on. Somewhere along the way, it seems most employees forgot that the computer in front of you does not belong to them, it belongs to the company, and therefore you have no right to install software other than what they install, and/or are authorized to install. Every time I sit down in front of a computer to work on it, I am faced with dealing with such software. Of course, I could very easily change user permissions from "administrator" to "user", and thus keep them from installing anything, but such permissions often conflict with programs like Quickbooks. One of the most annoying things that people install onto their computer are "toolbars" for their browsers. Just about every computer I work on ends up having either the Yahoo! Toolbar or the Google Toolbar (or worse, some no-name search engines toolbar). A friend and I were talking about this today -- he maintains about 900 computers for a school district -- and we resolved to find a way to...

Were my suggestions on personal data security right or wrong? Please commit.
Posted by:  simon   (Posted: 01/09/2007 7:36pm)
Hi Brenda and Queenie, Your question is all about the hottest topic ever in I.T. - Security! I just can highlight you "some" aspects you need to consider: 1. Firewall setting: XP provides basic function of firewall, you MUST turn it "on". Some software you installed (e.g. msn messenger, icq etc.) may gain exception under your approval to access through your firewall. So, you NEED to very alert what software or utility you allow it to gain exception to "break through" the firewall. You can review this list in "Exceptions" in "Windows Firewall" in "Security Center" in "Control Panel". Go through the list and mark down any "suspect" items. Ask the school whether these items are necessary for you to gain access to the school network. 2. User Accounts: check your user account to see how many account you or anybody else have created. For ease of management purpose, eliminate all accounts which are not used any more. As a personal computer, it is the best to just have your account alone and this only account should be the only computer administrator account. If you need to keep another account for any person, assign those account as "Limited", never "computer...

A Christmas Story
Posted by:  poodlelady   (Posted: 12/15/2006 6:22pm)
When I was in the chat room today someone mentioned there wasn't much Christmas stuff -So here is a Christmas Story just for you. The old man sat in his gas station on a cold Christmas Eve. He hadn't been anywhere in years since his wife had passed away. He had no decorations, no tree, no lights. It was just another day to him. He didn't hate Christmas, just couldn't find a reason to celebrate. There were no children in his life. His wife had gone. He was sitting there looking at the snow that had been falling for the last hour and wondering what it was all about when the door opened and a homeless man stepped through. Instead of throwing the man out, George, Old George as he was known by his customers, told the man to come and sit by the space heater and warm up. "Thank you, but I don't mean to intrude," said the stranger. "I see you're busy. I'll just go" "Not without something hot in your belly," George turned and opened a wide mouth Thermos and handed it to the stranger. "It ain't much, but it's hot and tasty. Stew. Made it myself....

Request for Some Help
Posted by:  venomx   (Posted: 12/07/2006 1:16am)
As many of you may already know, I am trying to build my own online apologetics ministry. A recent post on this site that mentioned an unfortunate website (**link removed by request**) has inspired me to write a series of articles here in response to the claims that they make. God has planted this notion with me: This could be bigger than just a few articles! I could launch a website, designed to look like the offending site, that carries all of my replies. So I have a late-January 2007 launch date in mind for the site. Reason: with the holidays this close, I can't spend any extra money for website administration costs (domain registration, advertisement, etc.). I would like to know if anyone is interested in contributing material for the site. If anyone has any comments, criticisms, or ideas those are welcome as well. By the end of this week, I should have a prototype ready. Please e-mail me (my e-mail address can be found at the link above) or comment to this blog if you're interested in volunteering for this project. If you are unable to contribute anything to the project, please pray for the success of this...

Making ChristianBlog.Com Your Central Blogging Site
Posted by:  greybear   (Posted: 11/20/2006 10:29am)
Making ChristianBlog.Com Your Primary Blogging Site Solid foundations are so important when talking about new beginnings. Just as Christ is to be the foundation of our Truth, so I see ChristianBlog.Com as a solid foundation of an Online Christian Community. Setting aside the technology for the time being, ChristianBlog.Com is determined to maintain an atmosphere that is purely pleasing to the Lord. If Christ himself were to login, the team would not need to quickly change anything, hide any ad, omit any colorful language, or regret any work, comment, or photo that has been posted by any posting member or team member of this community. This site is dedicated to pleasing God and making use of the talents entrusted to it, until its work is completed or Christ returns to take us home. Christ centered, God honoring, and Holy Spirit discernment in management: that's ChristianBlog.Com. If you agree that ChristianBlog.Com is the right place to be, but have already started blogging in another site, what do you do now? Let me say first off, you are not the first person to find yourself in this place. Like many, you may have started in one of the many HUGE blogging communities...

My Computer
Posted by:  mumbly   (Posted: 11/07/2006 11:54pm)
Hi, I thought some of you might be interested, in how a senior citizen like me, came to learn about Computers. I had a son, who worked in the computer industry (he was called Home to be with the Lord in 2003, aged 37.) Anyway, he talked me into getting one about 5 1/2yrs ago. I was quite nervous about it all, because I was a complete novice. Andrew (my son) helped me choose it etc. and he and his wife were very patient with me. I also went to SeniorNet, which is a well known group, thru out NZ. They teach seniors all about computer use, from the basics up. It is a marvellous group, and there are only about 5 to each class, and 1 or sometimes 2 Tutors. So I went to a few of their courses, and that was so good. Then when I had learnt a bit there, I decided that I needed time on my own, to explore and find out about things on my own, and just asked Andrew if I got stuck, which in the beginning was quite a lot!!! After my darling boy was called Home, to be with Christ, my...

You know I really don't like computers... Only if I'm doing video editing (Which I really love to do) I just really hate the whole technical side of it... But I mean we really are moving into the age of everything being computer operated, etc.. So I mean there really is no avoiding it is their? The internet can be a really dangerous place so that's why I try not to use it very often... But it can also be used for a lot of good also. It's hard to just write... That's why I like talking to people... 4now - Andrew...

Frustrated in the Wilderness
Posted by:  lessismore   (Posted: 09/18/2006 7:23am)
html, rss feed, bbcode... wow... one must really be a techie to make it in life today... so some might think... and if we don't know the lingo, we fake it... we read a book or talk to a friend and try to figure out just what all the excitement is in blog world... sort of like the Israelites in their wilderness days... seeking God's will and trying to belong... trying to maintain the status quo... trying to understand how their shoes have lasted for forty years...yikes... sounds a little like the rest of us... frustrated in the wilderness... trying to choose the right church and believe all the right things and hang with the right people and still get it all done... ... .. I am at that crossroads in my life where I am truly seeking the will of the Most High God for myself and my family. Far be it from me that there would be anything in my path today that would separate me from the love of my God. I was raised in a Christian home and provide the same for my children. But don't let that last statement fool you.I have had my share of...

DebatingChristianity.com
Posted by:  otseng   (Posted: 09/13/2006 3:00am)
For several years, I've been running a forum, DebatingChristianity.com. Before I started it, I participated in several debates forums about religion and evolution vs creation. There were two that I primarily debated at, but both of them at the same time decided to ban all religious debates. Then out of a need to fulfill my debate habit, I started my own forum. One of my goals was to have a place where people would respect others' beliefs, even if they are different from one's own. The debates would be civil and respectful. Well, for an open internet forum, it hasn't done too badly. As a matter of fact, I've been pleased at how it's been progressing. My only problem now is that I don't have the time to participate in the debates as much as I would like. Most of my time is spent moderating, administrating, and programming. The forum runs on phpbb. And I've been able to install quite a number of mods for it. But there has been one feature that I've always wanted that I could not find, a newsletter mod. So, my time lately has been spent trying to write a newsletter mod for the forum....

New Tool To Acquire GoogleVideo And YouTube Video ID's
Posted by:  abelajohnb   (Posted: 09/10/2006 2:44am)
For the last two days I have been pondering about how to make the website easily allow folks to include YouTube and Google Video into blog entries here at ChristianBlog. A few days ago I created the BBCode to allow folks to add the YouTube videos into blogs, and earlier today I added the BBCode to add Google Videos into blogs -- but, I found it was going to be uber hard to explain to people *how* to do so... as it's not always an easy process to figure out how to acquire the video-id from those websites. So, I finally decided that rather than trying to write complicated how-to's, I would just create a tool that enabled people to copy-and-paste the URL from youtube/google and have it return the specific video-id required for our BBCode here at the website. So, after waaaay to many hours of screwing around with building it, I decided I would go ahead and announce this tool as being online and (seemingly) working correctly. Simply visit http://tools.christianblog.com/getvideoid.php and you can now very easily acquire the "video code" you will need to insert YouTube/GoogleVideo into our website! To use it, just go to the YouTube/GoogleVideo page...

BlogTopsites - ChristianBlog.Com Is On The Move!!
Posted by:  abelajohnb   (Posted: 08/31/2006 2:01am)
There is this website called BlogTopSites that people can join and add their blog website too and it tracks their popularity. It is very similar to the Christian-Based Blog Tracking Service I created called "Top 100 Christian Blog Websites" - which has had a slow start because I haven't really told anybody about it but a few friends. Back on February 12, 2006 I created an account for ChristianBlog.Com at BlogTopSites, and after a short duration it got approved. I listed the site in their Religion category, for obviously reasons, and than added the necessary html code to ChristianBlog.Com. Because way back in February the website had only been online for a matter of a few weeks, the website never really got listed very high in the BlogTopSites rankings, and I eventually pulled the code out of the website figuring I would add it back in "once the website got more popular". Well, ChristianBlog.Com HAS gotten a lot more popular since than (!!) so I decided to re-add the html code to our website and see how it would do this time around. As BlogTopSites only updates their stats every 24 hours I patiently waited to see how far down...

"Bye bye" MySpace!
Posted by:  dgerbino   (Posted: 08/21/2006 4:25pm)
Well everyone, I took a HUGE step today. I am one of those who was a "MySpace.com" junkie ... and just stumbled upon this site and joined. I met several great christian people on myspace, however, it's just filled with a bunch of non-christian junk and is also full of viruses and spyware. (I actually lost my computer in the springtime/early-summer due to a virus that crippled my system that I got from myspace.com.) Since joining ChristianBlog.com, coupled with the fact that one of my closest myspace friends decided to move his blog to a separate christian site to avoid all the non-christian junk you have to deal with on myspace, I was actually logging in less and less often. I must admit, that made my decision to drop them altogether much easier ... and I've 'announced' that I'll be removing my old myspace account around 9/10. This is a HUGE step for me. I have you all to thank as well - because I've found so much christian inspiration here. I mean, true, christian inspiration. Too many times on the internet, I've come across sites that say they are "christian" but once you look closer, they aren't christian at...

Forcing Image Resizing
Posted by:  christianblog   (Posted: 02/07/2006 3:01pm)
One of the big items on our "To Do List" has been a way to solve images from breaking our website. Because we have a fixed-width website design - at the moment - it is fairly easy to break the layout of the page by posting an image that is larger then what our fixed width design is setup for. What happens is the main table with all the Blog text pushes out to the right-side of the page -- not good! So we had a number of options before us: , Force people to use our own website for storing images (not something we want to do). , Resize images on-the-fly (but causes long load times). , Find a way via JavaScript or CSS to resize them. Our entire development team spent the better part of this afternoon trying to find a viable solution to this issue. Eventually one of us came across a blog entitled Max-Width and Faking it for IE which explains a way to to CSS to force a max-width of an object. As the author correctly notes, "it's best to size an image accordingly", but in our situation that just was not possible. Thankfully he...

About: ChristianBlog Development
Posted by:  christianblog   (Posted: 01/28/2006 9:05pm)
Over the last few weeks we have been getting a fair number of fellow internet software (and website) developers asking if we ever plan to start writing blogs about developing internet based software and websites. While most of us are rather busy developing, it was decided by [member="abelajohnb"], the founder/owner of ChristianBlog.Com, to start taking a bit of time each day (or whenever we are able too) to share bits of information about what we are doing, applications we use, programming methods, code snippets, and other such features. The overall reasons for this will be to further the community growth, provide a resource for other developers, and encourage others to do the same. The primary issues we will address are: , Internet Application Development , Intranet Application Development , Internet Website Development , Rich Internet Applications , Web Portal Applications , Middleware , Content management , Information Architecture , Website Architecture , LAMP (software bundle) , Web Design / Graphical User Interface , JavaScript, DHTML, Cascading Style Sheets, Ajax (programming) , Multimedia In addition to the above list - or rather in unison with it - we will address those issue, and others, that confront our development team as we...

The Cautions Of Internet Blogging
Posted by:  abelajohnb   (Posted: 01/23/2006 4:02pm)
The Cautions Of Internet Blogging There is no questioning that one of the major areas we would love to see ChristianBlog.Com to have growth is within the teenage group. Not only do teenagers bring crazy teenage discussions, but teenagers within a safe community like ChristianBlog help them to express their faith, growth, and yes, even their troubles of growing up. There is also no question that ChristianBlog.Com is attempting to be one of the most family oriented, family safe, online Blogging website on the internet. Each and every Blog Entry, and each and every Blog Comment, that our members submit to our website is viewed by a Christian believer to ensure it is 'family safe' - something we are very proud of in our quest to be family-safe! While - in the course of the months and years ahead - we may not catch each-and-every non-family-safe Blog Entry or Comment within minutes of it being posted, we are working on setting up a global-wide system where someone is always available to review every new submission, regardless of the time and when people are awake or sleeping. (the staff after all, can only be awake for so long in a given...

Blog Tags
Posted by:  abelajohnb   (Posted: 12/15/2005 8:49pm)
Blog Tags are a sort of alternative category when you create a new blog. For each blog entry that you create you are able to attach certain "blog tags" to your blog entry. These blog tags get thrown into a mix of other blog tags added by other members of the website. At some point blog tags becomes a sort of virtual random categorization for blogs, all for the sake of some fun! At this point we have the ability to add six (6) blog tags to each of your blog entries. Based upon how good blog tags go over, and how kool of a system we are able to develop to make different Blog Tags work togther, we might increase the amount of Blog Tags that each new blog entry can have. This Blog Entry will be updated as futher development takes place... and as always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions!...
