My Car Accident.

bethy posted:

Its 8.55am and I am sitting on the floor in the living room, bruised, fragile and a little shaky. Yesterday morning Tom and I were going to school when my car hit sheet ice. I travel down a road that has steep drops into the fields. It seems that yesterday morning I was to have an appointment with one of those fields. My car hit the ice and spun right round in the middle of the road. Our roads are narrow so there was really not much room for spinning. As it spun it flipped over the hedge and down a 1520 foot drop. It hit the field at the drivers front panel and flipped twice more in the field. I praise God for a few things... One that he yelled at me to grab my son by his tie and haul his head down away from the sides of...

Lesson From The Dead

bethy posted:

Its not often one goes about their daily work only to be struck dumb by the sudden appearance of a body. A dead Body! That very thing happened to me on Monday evening. Let me tell you my story... Twas Monday evening (as I have already said), and Hubby and I had taken leave of our warm and cosy home to go to our church halls to give them their weekly scrub. Walking into the building we noticed that there was a light shining through the door that leads to the church. Just a small light, the one over the doors at the front of the church. I told hubby that if he went and got his mop I would go and check that there was no one in the church and turn out the light. So singing to myself I flung open the door, paddled in, and was stopped...

Being Pro-life.

bethy posted:

A new clinic has opened in Belfast. It is a clinic that offers “advice and facilities” to those who seek to, with the aid of another being, abort their unborn child. Of course we “good people” are enraged . We have written to our political representatives opposing this clinic on the grounds that it is murder. For you see we are prolife! Or are we? At what point in the life of a child do we no longer demand that they be cared for. At what point do we say that the mother has the right to make her own choices for her well being or the well being of the child. Here are a few thoughts of mine. If we are prolife then we cannot determine when we stop being prolife. We either are, or we are not. If we demand that a young single girl keep her baby...

Today Blood Must Flow

bethy posted:

Today the blood must flow. It’s a beautiful day in France; the early morning sun warms the stone that so many of the village buildings are made from. The ivy creeps up the walls and kisses the chimney tops. As in most small villages dawn is greeted by silence. In most villages the inhabitants are still asleep, hoping to catch a few more minutes before the bakeries, the corner shops and the coffee shops need to be opened for yet another day. Not so in this village. For this village is OradourSurGlane. Here the streets are empty and the buildings vacant. Here there is no sound of life; even the birds are strangely silent. Here one sees cars burnt out and rusted after 68 years in the elements. Here a child’s pram sits eerily in the middle of a burnt out church, its frame buckled and twisted with rage. Here...

Heading To The Hills Again

bethy posted:

We are packed, we are ready , we have glared at the overcast skies and now we are ready to take to the hills again for a weekend of cycling, mountain climbing and rain watching. Oh yes, the ferguson household is taking to them thar hills for the weekend. I spent the morning trudging back and forth to the caravan with our supplies. We like to rough it when we go away, so I had to make sure that the Tv was packed, the microwave was packed, the CD player was packed.. ahh you get the idea dont you? One run to the van from the house had me carrying nothing more than a toothbrush in my hand.. sigh, I could do in one trip what it takes me four to do. But I am ready to go whenever the Mountains of Mourne call my name. Or at least I...

Holding Every Thought Captive.

bethy posted:

I am by my very nature a foolish creature. I sometimes believe that I exist as a beacon to others to show them how wise they are in comparison to me. I have in the past catalogued my many foolish deeds and thoughts. But I far exceeded my own borders on Monday. Monday was a rather dull and un exciting day. I had woken to the knowledge that it was mid term break at school and the day stretched ahead ofme. I made my plans, and set forth to execute the said plans. I lit the living room fire and proceeded to clear out my shoe drawer. Finding a pair of shoes I set them aside for the bin. We have already coverd the ground as to the extent of my foolishness so it will come as no surprise to you when I tell you that I had a bright...

Wow, You Pray For Me

bethy posted:

Yesterday I read that there is someone who prays for me. I truthfully cant tell you how that realisation has impacted me. To think that someone who probably has a busy enough life has chosen to take the time out to pray for me is mind blowing. As many of you know I have a nephew who is autistic. Over the years many have offered to hold Andrew in prayer, and many of those same people have admitted that after a few days their prayers have dried up. I have grown used to people saying one thing and yet doing another. I have had vast experience of the phrase Ill pray for you, being nothing more than a vapour in the wind. yet now I know where I have found the extra will when I have a bad day. now I know why my spirit soars to Jesus when my...

Letting Off Steam

bethy posted:

I had an interesting conversation last Sunday in church with a friend of mine. It had started off innocently enough with me asking him how his week had been. He told me that he had been to a deliverance conference. I asked him what he was at a deliverance conference, and his answer surprised me. To my utter amazement he told me that he was being taught about deliverance from generational Curses. Of course my ears picked up and my eyes narrowed at this point, and I asked him to elaborate please. So according to my friend, we struggle with generational curses, curses that are created by the sins of either our fathers or our forefathers. Please excuse me while I choke, but I have never heard such nonsense in my life. The best bit is this, and this is why I write this blog. He then proceeded to try...

Blessed Are The Cracked For Through Them The Light Shines

bethy posted:

Blessed are the Cracked for through them the Light shines. Its a beautiful morning here in Ireland, the rain is falling gently, the wind is picking up to a nice gale force 8 and the temperature is a balmy summers 12c. In these sub tropical temperatures I have been thinking about my life and the way in which God has shaped it and moulded it. As some of you know, I have had a pretty easy journey in comparison to some, and a horrendous journey from the view point of others. But through the the many ups and downs of my life, I have come to realise one thing, and it is this Through the cracks the many many mercies of God shine. You see, had I never sat at the bedside of my son while he fought for life I would not have known the healing mercies of God....

Always Under His Eye.

bethy posted:

Am I deaf? Am I too old to realise what is going on right under my nose? No, I think not. So the question is begged, why do the kids in my library think that they can sit and eat crisps yes you heard, crisps, without my noticing. One has to admit that they are very cunning. They keep the packet in their pocket and ever so carefully they slip the offending food into their mouths But its then that they are caught out CRUNCH, crunch, CRUNCH. In the silence of a study library that crunch sounds like an earthquake. And I may be foolish, but I do know the difference in an earthquake and the crunch of a packet of Salt and vinegar crisps. Hmmm and then, then when I do my librarian thing yell at them to stop before they lose more than their crisps, they look totally...
