He Means What He Says

day2day posted:

When we were younger my husband didn't like it when I casually used the word love. I love this movie!, I love this ice cream, etc. His point was that when I would say love so often about every little thing, it didn't differentiate my LOVE for HIM. He thought I should use the word like more and save love for him (and family of course)! I understand his point completely although I must say that is easier said than done! To me, love can mean really like ALOT, it can mean I care for you deeply like a relative, and it can mean I love you truly deeply do! A family member is in the middle of a very serious and restrictive diet. It has been difficult but they are doing well. I want to say I'm so PROUD of you...and I do...but today I was writing them a...

I'm Dropping Stitches

day2day posted:

A lady from church is part of a group that crochets shawls for the sick and confined in our church. It's a love gift that we hope brings comfort, warmth, and a reminder that they are in our prayers. This friend has offered to teach me how to crochet, and in turn, I am going to try to help contribute to their need of shawls. I had my first lesson Monday. I think I did OK for being a beginner but found I tended to make a mistake when I got too confident and started talking while I was trying to stitch my row. At some point my work didn't look right. What did I do wrong? I now fully understand the saying a stitch in time saves nine. As long as I focused, kept quiet, and took my good old time trying to correctly make the next stitch I...

If These Walls Could Talk

day2day posted:

I am obsessed with dwelling on little details in the Bible that seem to get passed over. If every word is ordained by God...as it is... then there must be a reason for the tiniest of details.Today I came across the last verse of Psalms. Psalms is a book FILLED with songs about God's compassion, kindess, power, and greatness. I love the humanity in the songs that share very human fears, thoughts, the desperate need for God's help, and man's PRAISE. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.I find it interesting that it says everyTHING not just everyONE. Psalm 145:21 My mouth will speak in praise of the LORD. Let every CREATURE praise his holy name for ever and ever. A creature is a created thing. Since the Lord created EVERYTHING this verse does not only apply to humans. Isa 55:12 For ye shall go out...

The Power Of A Night Light

day2day posted:

Isn’t the power of a night light a curious thing? The house can be in complete darkness, but if there is a pinhead of light in the room it helps to dispel fear and deliver comfort to any from the age of 292. Somehow a night light is enough to guide a wandering foot in the middle of the night, to help one maneuver through a blacked out house to a room down the hall not to mention it’s power to vanquish all monsters from under beds, closets, or anywhere for that matter! I chuckle at a cartoon of a little scared boy in bed with his blanket up to his chin. Next to his bed is his little glowing night light. Under the bed you see two monsters looking frustrated. One says I'm hungry, let's eat the kid. The other replies We can't! Not with that night light on!How...

Clean Never Lasts

day2day posted:

Today I find myself, yet again, drowning in laundry. This morning it was dirty laundry...this afternoon it is clean laundry. Take dirty clothes downstairs, stuff the washer, add soap, hit the setting buttons, turn on...wait... take out of washer, put in dryer, adjust setting buttons, turn on... wait... bring basket downstairs...fill basket...switch laundry between machines...take clean laundry in basket upstairs repeat...repeat...repeat.Laundry is a drudgery to me only because it never lasts. The satisfaction of a job completed is short lived. I know that tonight, after showers and pajamas are doned...that there will be the beginning of yet another mountain of laundry for another day.I wonder if God feels that way about me sometimes. Why won't I just say clean? Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Cor. 5:17We are all born in sin..but...

Identify Yourself Please

day2day posted:

I am literally chomping at the bit to set up my flower beds for the summer...I've been sketching my flower beds and drawing diagrams with arrows indicating where I want to transfer flowers from one bed to another. I've been browsing flower catalogs and websites in order to find needed plants with specific characterisics. Whew! I'm exhausted and I haven't even started getting my hands dirty! Today I thought I would stroll around the yard and make mental notes of what was staying, going, or being moved. I wanted to picture my diagrams and plan of attack. Now this time of year they all look the same...half dead. Except for clumps of green weeds, there are a lot of bundled brown little sticks emerging from the ground throughout my yard beds. A few labeling spikes and a hazy memory are all I have to identify one brown mound from another....

Story Of The Christmas Song 1

day2day posted:

This is my FAVORITE Christmas Song... O HOLY NIGHTO Holy Night was written by a Frenchman named Placide Cappeau de Roquemaure in 1847. Placide was the commisionaire of wines in his small town and was known for writing poetry. Although he was not a regular at church, his parish priest asked him to write a poem for that year's Christmas mass. Cappeau was honored and soon completed his poem, Cantique de Noel. However, after the inspiration of writing his poem based upon the Gospel of Luke's account of Christ's birth, Cappeau decided to that his poem was worthy as a song as well. He asked his friend Adolphe Charles Adams, who had written scores for both opera and ballet, to assist in writing the music. The completed song was presented to the priest and parish and received wholehearted acceptance. Soon, it became widely known throughout churches in France.Years later, though, Cappeau...

Christmas Holiday Trivia 2

day2day posted:

The word Christmas is Old English, a contraction of Christ's Mass. Germany made the first artificial Christmas trees. They were made of goose feathers and dyed green. Electric lights for trees were first used in 1895. Rudolph was actually created by Montgomery Ward in the late 1930's for a holiday promotion. The rest is history. The Nutcracker is the most famous Christmas ballet. Jingle Bells was first written for Thanksgiving and then became one of the most popular Christmas songs. If you received all of the gifts in the song The Twelve Days of Christmas, you would receive 364 gifts. The poinsettia plant was brought into the United States from Mexico by Joel Poinsett in the early 1800's. Holly berries are poisonous. Contrary to common belief, poinsettia plants are nontoxic. Mistletoe was chosen as Oklahoma's state flower in 1893 and later changed to the state floral emblem. In 1843, A...

Christmas Holiday Trivia 1

day2day posted:

The Night Before Christmas was written by Clement Moore for his children and some guests. The poem was anonymously to a New York newspaper for publication by one of his guests. Oregon is the leading producer of Christmas trees 8.6 million in 1998. Candy canes began as straight white sticks of sugar candy used to decorate Christmas trees. The ends were later bent to depict a shepherd's crook. It wasn't until about the 20th century that candy canes acquired their red stripes. You can eat your Christmas tree. Many parts of pines, spruces, and firs are edible, including the needles (chock full of vitamin C) and pine cones. The first US president to officially decorate a Christmas tree in the White House was Franklin Pierce.More diamonds are purchased during the Christmas season than during any other holiday or occasion during the year. The first Christmas decorations were homemade paper flowers, or...
