The Urgency Of Making Things Right - “Quickly!”

enje25 posted:

If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. As Much As Lieth In You Living peaceably among ourselves creates a zone of safety, a zone to which we are all drawn, and one for which we all long and need. Consequently, the potential for being peaceful people does indeed lie within the hearts of most true Christians. Yet lurking within the trenches of our human nature is a shadowed corner of darkness lying in wait as well to willfully restrain, and limit the effects of, our working towards peaceful resolutions “quickly” when disagreements, wrongful choices of words, or a myriad of misunderstandings arise between us and a family member, a friend, a colleague, an employee/employer, or whomever. Subsequently, and unfortunately, that shadowed corner of darkness lying within the hearts of [even] true Christians, rises to these occasions and follows the challenge of the...

Forbearance: Patience, Tolerance, And Self-Control

enje25 posted:

The daily scripture verse posted here at our ChristianBlog Home Page is a vital part of its ministry, because God's Word, whether it be in a singular verse, a chapter, or a book, has the unique ability to speak to the soul of a person like no other written word.Today... the scripture verse from Colossians at the top of the Home Page was an answered prayer for me.I had gone to bed last night with a troubled heart due to a discussion that a very dear friend and I had had yesterday; a discussion that was/is not pleasant for either of us. And although we have had this discussion ad nauseam over the last three years, we still cannot agree on how it should be resolved, and though we remain friends, we always feel the tension of that divisiveness for some time.Early this morning, I was even more troubled; my...

Confidence In God

enje25 posted:

More often than not, when one is truly desirous of serving God with all their heart, mind, body, and soul, the trials of life and the inward struggles become nearly unbearable. But these nearly unbearable times are times when God desires for us to place our confidence in Him and not in ourselves or someone else. He desires for us to learn how to trust Him and allow our confidence in Him to be increased through prayer. Sometimes, it takes a long time to learn how to let go of the confidence we would like to place in ourselves, or others, and submit ourselves to Him, but prayer is the first step in learning how to develop more confidence in God.We are mere mortals, and many times we feel that we don't know how to pray to God about the things we're feeling when these inward struggles are so pressing,...

A Mother's Day Photo Essay: The Silent Language Of Flowers

enje25 posted:

Today is Mother's Day, a special day in honor of mothers observed each year on the second Sunday in the month of May. Flowers are the most common gifts given to mothers on this day, because most all women love flowers. They represent, too, a love and appreciation for the mother to whom they're given. But the silent language of flowers speaks of something else about mothers: some of their most admirable attributes. I would like to invite you to stroll with me on this Mother's Day through my blog garden, so that you can view the select flowers that I've chosen to symbolize some of these admirable attributes of mothers. The Silent Language of Flowers Let's begin our stroll with the Lily of the Valley plant, a flowering plant representative of the month of May. Its bellshaped, drooping flowers have a delicate, sweet fragrance. The two species of the Lily...

Rest In A Desert Place

enje25 posted:

Despite the brutal conditions of the desert environment, cacti are equipped to survive in this milieu quite well. The image to the right is a Prickly Pear Cactus. It produces a flowering bloom of beauty and bears fruit as well as it resides in many North American deserts. One of the deserts in which this particular type of cacti resides is the Sonoran Desert in southwestern Tucson, Arizona, one of the hottest deserts in the western hemisphere as well as one of the largest. REST IN A DESERT PLACE I see the beauty of the bloom on the cactus as a visual analogy to the Christian's ability to do likewise; because just as God designed the cacti to survive, and indeed thrive, in the brutal conditions of its natural environment, He equipped us, after salvation, with what we would need to survive, and indeed thrive, in the [sometimes] brutal conditions...

Ye Do Err, Not Knowing The Scriptures...

enje25 posted:

When the Sadducees came to Jesus to question him of whom the wife of seven brothers would belong “after the resurrection,” Jesus silenced their foolish question with this profound reply:Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob ? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. Matthew 22:2932, KJV Jesus astonished the multitudes [standing by] listening to his response, perhaps because it addressed two significant factors regarding the Sadducees:1.) their ignorance of what God’s word said and2.) their ignorance of the “singular” power that...

He Maketh The Storm A Calm

enje25 posted:

He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Psalm 107:29, KJV Trusting God When the storms of life assail us, we feel the frailty of our humanity. But frail as we may feel, we have the privilege of seeking divine help from the One and Only True and Living God. He will be our hope, our strength, and our buckler; help us to endure what we must, and in due time, bring a calm to our souls. The KJV book of Isaiah, Chapter 25 verse 4, speaks of God's divine refuge in this manner:For thou has been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall. Til the storm passes, we can rest assured that He will...

St. Luke 5:4, KJV The oceans of the world are some of the most alluring sites imaginable. Their appearance is beautiful, mystifying, and challenging. On the other hand, as beautiful and mystifying as they are, their unpredictable depth of water can be a daunting site, especially for those who fear their potential treacherousness, or doubt their ability to meet their challenges. What lies beneath their vastness, or exactly what their dangers are, remain silent to fearful observers, and the determination to venture upon, or under, their immensity wanes from individual to individual. The fear of the unknown has been, is now, and will continue to be, a human trait that certainly has its purpose; however, there are those times when we have to launch out into the deep and take new steps into new directions. We'll not know what...
