White As Snow

godslearningchild posted:

Isaiah 1:18Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.I am one of those people who fully enjoy everything about every season. At least, I try hard to. I grew up in Hawaii and California, and so moving to the Southeast US, took some getting used to. I hadn’t seen winter thaw become vibrant spring or feel the warm summer breeze under the stars then spectacular leaves changing from green to maroon, orange and deep yellow, followed by snow. Snow was particularly difficult to learn to love. It’s cold, wet, and messy at the end of a snowfall. We generally only get a few inches total each year, and so, people aren’t really adapted to the slick roads, nor own the proper clothing to navigate...

A Humbling Demonstration Of His Love

godslearningchild posted:

MatthewChapter 28Jesus Has Risen1After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.2There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it.3His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.4The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.5The angel said to the women, Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.6He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.7Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you.8So the women...

Well Done Good And Faithful Servant

godslearningchild posted:

Matthew 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lordI was listening to Moriah Peters’ song, Well Done. I just heard it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. 10 words into it, I was hooked. She said something that I love, and it made me understand something. The first lines are “I’m headed down this narrow road, chosen by the few...” Did I say I loved it! I love it. God chooses every last child on this earth. Whether or not they choose Him back? That’s another story. I realize we’re very blessed to be in His midst and all that goes with it, but if someone doesn’t choose this life? He still loves and chooses them; so should we....

I Want To Be Like Job!

godslearningchild posted:

Then the LORD said to Job, “Do you still want to argue with the Almighty? You are God’s critic, but do you have the answers?” Job 40:12I want to be like Job! Not Job in the beginning, Job at the end. I’m amazed that when I am at my lowest, somehow, someway God reminds me to read Job. This time, I’ve been reading bible in a year and set it all down for a bit when I had to work on my problems at home. Such is life. But when I was my lowest this time, my thought was to read and what better book to read? As I logged onto to find out where I was, I just had to smile and laugh when it was Job. Who in their right mind would want to be like Job? He suffers so much. All the while, Job condemns God and...

More Than The Watchman Waits

godslearningchild posted:

I have been listening to Psalm 130 as sung by Sons of Korah (songs easily found on You Tube). If you don't know, they're an Australian group who put melodies to the Psalms. I love their music. They do two things for me. They bring the old testament back to life. If you've read the old testament, you know about the Levitical priests whose job it was to make music at the temple. I get a better idea of how that could work and relate my current life to it. And the music, it's peaceful, soothing, joyful, and so deeply directive as to how Christians should live. That is, it keeps God's word in my mind and heart every moment. I'll use an example. In my work, my hours are deadset. Basically, I work a 95 job. All day every day. But once in my life, I had to work...

godslearningchild posted:

Isaiah 6 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. 7 He touched my lips with it and said, “See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.” 8 Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.” At church a couple of weeks ago, a missionary lady came to visit us. She sang a song, either this one, or one that is very similar:I, the Lord of sea and sky,I have heard My people cry.All who dwell in dark and sin,My hand will save.I who made the stars of night,I will make their darkness bright.Who will bear My light to them?Whom shall I send? Here I am...

godslearningchild posted:

Romans 12:2Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. If something is done by everyonedo I do it risking losing God’s favorordo I do what is Godly and risk being shunned? I have been reading 2 Kings. Every section begins with “So _ ruled for _ years and he did not do what was pleasing in the sight of the LORD his God, as his ancestor David had done. Instead, he followed the example of the kings of Israel...”. Obviously, I am paraphrasing. I can see the fall coming, but they sure don’t. I realize Jesus comes to set everything right, and back to what the “norm” should be. God’s norm. But they just keep doing what is...

Praying For Rain

godslearningchild posted:

I wrote the below a couple of years ago. Lately, my life has been dry and I wish I could get that feeling back again. It's kinda weird I would long for the times that were full of adversity, but those are the times when I realized God was close (I realized. He is/was always there!). So for today, I'm gonna look back and remember. I am no longer afraid of going through bad things. I say, Bring it on! because I know the rain always refreshes. Lessons deepen and His love is felt. If I had never gone through what I had, I would have been blind to all the wonderful mercy and love. Bring on the rain.Psalm 18:2 2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me,...

Faith-Belief In The Unseen

godslearningchild posted:

I've been reading Bible in Yearthree or so chapters in a day. But what really struck me? How often the Israelites doubt God. He was in their midst. How could they ever doubt? I keep telling them (as though they could hear?), what are you afraid of? How can you not know what will happen? He promised you and went before you. He was their chosen people and He said so, numerous times. His grand mercy saves them time and again. Yet, it took them so long to get in line with all He promised them. It was their own actions that stood in the way, not God. He never back pedaled, just offered and gave to them. Every time, I thought, how hard could it have been for them? It seemed so simple. Endure a wee bit to get there, but then the promised land! However, I knew the...

Welcome Him to your table, your circle of friends, your every move. Guard your thoughts and actions because of a deep reverence for His greatness. He wants to share the joy, laughter, tearsan intimate relationship with you every moment. He holds you close in His arms. We are not saved by our works, but they show the world an outward feeling of our inner worth. Its our promise to keep to Him....
