The Two “Thank You” That Inspires My Life

silverpen posted:

Yes, there are many thank you that I will receive in this life, but two of them will always inspire me in my walk with God.First is the “Thank you” from our Heavenly Father when I reach the other Shore. When I finish this race, fight the good fight of faith and go back to God, this is what I aspire to be welcomed by our loving Father.I yearn so much to hear Him say: “Thank you, good and faithful servant, thank you for your service for Me”. This is the first ‘Thank You’ that I delight to hear that at once create this captivating motivation for my life now and forevermore. This aspiration inspires me to please God in all areas of my life, to be the person that He wants, to be a joy to our Heavenly Father, always eager to be His loyal and faithful servant to...

Let God Has The Final Say

silverpen posted:

Recently, a mega church here in Singapore is once again in the limelight but for the wrong reason. Eight of their leading leaders, including the founder pastor have been charged for misappropriation of church funds and breach of trust by manipulating Church funds for the singing profession of the founder’s wife.Since last year, the case has been widely publicized but postponed till now with new added evidences. The devoted followers of the church are exceptionally emotional and so involved that many will attend the week long court hearing each day. At home, many of us Christians will follow the daily report in the news vigilantly. As there are two family members who are their members, therefore there are 2 opposing views on this much talked about lawsuit. One view is against the government’s meddling with the running of Church affairs, though churches here are registered under the Charities Act to enable...

Do What Is Right In God’s Sight

silverpen posted:

I have been intending to write this blog for many months, but the thoughts are not flowing until now.In the last few months, I feel troubled when close relatives ask for urgent prayers for their crises yet I know that they do not walk rightly before God.I am aware that they do not tithe regularly, they exploit their staff and they are proud and arrogant, always unwilling to help the needy . They have not abided with God’s law in many ways.I have prayed for them but with a heavy heart. Occasionally the answer comes, but sometimes it doesn’t.Why is the answer not coming forth? Many individuals perceive that it’s God’s job and our rightful rewards that our prayers be answered the way we want. As a result, these people consider God as if He is a prayer answering machine or as if He is a wishing well.Is there any...

More Laborers Please, Lord

silverpen posted:

I have not been blogging for a while. Sometimes I want to write my thoughts but they do not come out as I want and the thoughts are not flowing as smooth as before.Maybe there are too many issues that bother me recently. First is about the disturbing news from our government, who for some perplexing reasons has presented a White Paper to increase our present population of 5.3 million to 6.9 million in the next 2 decades. It may sound fine to many who live in countries with vast land and expanse but to a tiny country like mine, it’s madness and incomprehensive. We are now one of the most densely populated nations in the world and there are at present 35% of our population being foreigners from the neighboring countries. So why add more? The government argues that as the birth rate is so low and that there will...

Need For More Laborers For The Vast Nation Of China

silverpen posted:

I had just returned from a short trip over the Christmas break to Yunnan Province of China which was in south western China near to North Myanmar and Northern Vietnam. Before the trip, I had already intended to bring in some Chinese Bibles and literatures. From my previous trip to Xiamen in South China the previous year which I visited some paternal cousins, I had some vague idea of how the Chinese people would respond to the Gospel.Through a strange event of a 4 hourlong traffic jam in the coach of our trip on our way to Lijang, we met a Chinese couple on the same tour who was from another part of China and then we also discovered that they were Christians. This must be a divine appointment of the meeting of our Faith. This was the first time that I met Christians from China and I was thrilled. I gave...

Hell Is A Motivation ...to Walk Right With God.

silverpen posted:

Recently we at home celebrate the 60th birthday of my elder brother. During the party, we chit chat and then slowly the conversation switch to heaven and hell. Most of us at home are Christians, though not all, definitely not the birthday boy who is also the perpetual life of the party. So jointly we nudge and urge him to become a Christian. We point out that the rest of us will be in Heaven when we leave this world with our late parents being Christians too, will also be waiting there for all their children. And he will not be there because he refuses time and again to become a Christian. Then this brother jokingly enquires whether Heaven has a casino, for he frequently spends his free time and much money at the two local casinos where he is a regular patron. He always announces openly that gambling is his only hobby...

Hairy Crab Thanksgiving

silverpen posted:

For many years, my late mum and I would enjoy a yearly exclusive feast for Shanghai Hairy Crab which would be promoted in October annually in Shanghai and worldwide and of course, here in Singapore. This famous Shanghai delicacy is world famed and well known throughout places where there is presence of Asians and it will occur in autumn (fall) each year. This year, I took this delightful spread with my sister. My elder sister Bee had taken the role of a guardian since the death of my late mum so few of us at home would meet often for regular buffets. Yet during the meal this time, I particularly missed my late mum though gone for 2 years but I personally wished that she was sitting calmly beside me at the lunch table enjoying the bright distinctive hairy crab as we had always done before. The sentimental side of me nostalgically...

Jesus Did Not Die In Vain For The Whole World.

silverpen posted:

Lately my family sought to trace the roots of our ancestors as the burial ground of our grandparents might be acquired for an expressway in land scare Singapore. In the past years, unfortunately we had lost information of the location due to negligence. Yet because of the discovery that we had living paternal cousins in Xiamen China coupled with our return visit last year, there was a revival of sentiment to locate these graves here.So a small group of us met one sunny morning of a public holiday to hunt for their graves remembering that my late father’s family left China to reside here in 1926.Whilst living here, they had acquired some wealth. Soon they passed on in two separate deaths which were 2 months apart in 1933, it was first my grandfather followed by his wife. Regrettably, they never returned to their homeland, Tong Ann of the Fujian Province...

Times When Prayers Are Not Answered

silverpen posted:

Do you know that God is a prayer answering God? Well, many do. But how many know that God doesn’t answer every prayer that is uttered by mankind? Well, only some do.So let me explain.Recently there have been some issues by one mega church here that cause their accounts to be probed by the Government. The Church here at large holds diverse views on the manner to pray. Some wants more judgment if there has been forgery; some want more leniency and sympathy. Others want the matter to be covered up, others too want it exposed and all accounts to be transparent. So everyone prays in a different way that he or she wishes! So if you are God, which prayer do you answer? Which prayer will make God move and touch His heart and which one will not?Why are some Christians’ prayers answered more regularly than others? Surely we aspire to...

My God Is Holy

silverpen posted:

Our God is holy. He is holy, holy is He and He loves holiness. He is holy Himself. Holy is God and God is holy. Yet how many of us know that God is holy and He loves us to be holy? The Bible preaches about it right and left, in and out. Without holiness, we cannot get close to God, we cannot be the people of God, and we cannot do His perfect will. 1 Peter 1: 15 16 in the Bible says we are to be holy for He is holy15: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16: Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. For He is holy, HOLY, HOLY, SO SO HOLY that no one can and will see Him unless we are holy.Hebrews 12: 14 14: Make every effort to...
