With Some Help From A Tree

trician posted:

Zacchaeus was a man of wealth and of some reputationbut not the kind of reputation one wants. He had a desire and a problem. There was a buzz in the air. He felt the atmosphere change. Someone ran by and breathlessly yelled, “Jesus of Nazareth is coming.” A growing crowd was approaching his tax station. Zacchaeus, usually a very cautious wily man left his post unattended. He has heard about this man Jesus. Abandoning all sense of dignity and reserve Zacchaeus realized his only chance of seeing Jesus was to break away from the crowd and secure a position in a higher place. Notice he didn’t run up some house steps to an upper window. He gathered his robes and jumped up into a tree. Not just any tree either. The word of God specifically states a sycamore fig tree. He assumed the position of a religious Jew. The fig...

Marriage-Whose Portrait And Inscription Is On It?

trician posted:

Jesus answered this query over two thousand years ago in the New Testament Book of Mark.13 Later they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus to catch him in his words. 14 They came to him and said, Teacher, we know you are a man of integrity. You aren't swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not? 15 Should we pay or shouldn't we? But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. Why are you trying to trap me? he asked. Bring me a denarius and let me look at it. 16 They brought the coin, and he asked them, Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription? Caesar's, they replied. 17 Then Jesus said to them, Give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God...

trician posted:

Oscar mania has seized the media outlets. Actors, actresses, producers and directors will be waiting breathlessly to see who captures a coveted golden statuette. I think most people like to be recognized for outstanding and positive achievementsGod knows His children like awards too. Therefore He has provided some awards for His children in this lifetime. I ve counted up ten crowns that a child of God can have in this life time. Six of these crowns are for everyone and four are optional crowns. The six crowns for everyone are1.Crown of Loving kindness Psalm 103:42.Crown of glory and honor Psalm 8:53.Crown of Salvation Psalm 149:44.Crown of knowledge Psalm 14:185.Crown of Glory Proverbs 4:96.Crown of Blessings Proverbs 10:6The four optional crowns are:1.Gray hair is a crown if found in the way of right living Proverbs 16:312.Grandchildren are a crown Proverbs 16:63.A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband Proverbs 12:44.The...

I Want A Reliable Bridge

trician posted:

All around Seattle there are floating bridges, draw bridges, and expansion bridges because Seattle is shaped like a long strip of land situated between two bodies of water. One is never far from water. Thousands of Seattleites traverse these bridges daily never questioning if these bridges are safe. So imagine a number of years ago, on a beautiful Sunday morning without warning we were shocked to hear that a bridge was running away. After the Sunday morning service my late husband and I joined the other gawkers to see this strange sight. A bridge we d crossed many times was floating in the middle of the lake towards the shore. The floating bridge was living up to its name. This bridge actually floats in the water. Built on the pontoon model these sophisticated, yet simple, pieces of engineering are put together to form a bridge that had been very reliable...

Habits Of The Heart

trician posted:

God, I do not understand that you said that David was a man after Your heart. When I look at him I say he was disobedient, a murderer, an idolater, a wife stealer, a man who didn t correct his children, and a polygamist. Yet You say he was a man after your heart? His personal foibles would be fodder for newsprint today. I m pretty certain he could not have been electable for any office in this day and age. In fact he was run out of Office two times no less than by two of his own children. The scandals in his own family would certainly have seen him out of office. His son raped his sister. His other son killed the one who raped her. My, my, tsk tsk he would have been gone in a heartbeat. Every time his name was mentioned it would have been...

trician posted:

I have to admit it I am a fan, okay I ll tell the real truth, I m a fanatic about HGTV. I love practically all of the shows about decorating, buying and selling homes. I sit in rapt attention as the experts tell the homeowners what upgrades they need to do to sell their homes. I am absolutely fascinated with the decorating chops my favorite designer of all times. Before HGTV I used to buy architectural magazines just to stare and salivate over the beautiful homes showcased in that magazine. When selling one s home, all of the experts agree that it is harder to sell a home that is empty, devoid of all furnishings. If the home is tastefully decorated buyers can come in and imagine how their own family might live there. Empty homes appear cold and uninviting. In order to attract a higher price, especially on very...

The Ticketless Passenger

trician posted:

One day an owner of an airline decided that he would give free passage and accomodations to anyone who wanted to his beautiful private island. Only his airline company could land there. The only thing a person had to do was to either write for, or go to the airport and get a ticket. There was no other requirement, but to just ask for a ticket. One could even go to a travel agency or go online and ask for a ticket. Absolutely no one was denied a ticket, if the person asked for one. The person would show up the airport and get the next available seat assignment. Even if a family of fourteen wanted to go to this island the only requirement was that each individual had to have a ticket and get a seat assignment. The airline became so well known that its nickname became Just Ask...

Gods Unusual Packaging Of Provisions-Reflections On Daniel

trician posted:

The story is told, whether fact or fiction I know not, of an old woman who always praised God loudly and prayed to God for everything. Her neighbored an avowed unbeliever was truly annoyed by her prayers. One day he heard the old woman praying to God about her need for some food. Thinking that he would turn her from her faith he decided to buy her the groceries and put them on her porch anonymously. His plan was when she thanked God for them that he would appear and let her know that it wasn t God, but man that provided the groceries. He put his plan in place.Just as he thought the old woman came outside and saw the groceries. She began to praise God for God s provisions. The neighbor came out of the bushes and declared that there was no God and that he, the neighbor,...

God Given Gifts - Reflections From The Book Of Daniel

trician posted:

3 Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring in some of the Israelites from the royal family and the nobility 4 young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the kings palace. Daniel 1:34 NIVGod has a plan for each life. The Bible states that God knit us in our mother s womb. God has a book written about each one of us. God patiently works on us for nine months before we are born into the world. God forms each ear, nose, skin color. What a marvelous thought! Each eye, retina, handprint is unique. There are no two people who are truly identical. This passage lets me know that even the looks we have serve God s purposes. There is Daniel swept up into a situation over which...
