A farmer used to hitch up his old mule to a two-horse plow everyday and say ''get up Beauregard, get up Satchel, get up Robert, get up Betty Lou''. One day his neighbour hearing the farmer asked ''how many names does the mule have??''
''Oh he only has one'' answered the farmer. ''His names is Pete. But I put blinders on him and call out all of the other names so he will think that other mules are working with him. He has a better attitude when he's a part of a team.''
Andrew Carnegie:
''Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.''
From personal experience I've found I have always accomplished so much more with a team than I could possibly dream of on my own. As a member of a team you are provided with support, encouragement, wisdom, and so much more.... I can't think of anything better than to be standing along side fellow team members who share your vision and commitment. How much can you accomplish in a team???...

I had a vision. On a night where I had been praying in tears for my pastors as they faced spiritual warfare within our church. This is my vision.
There is a mountain, very rocky, with a peak. At the peak is a fortress with walls, possibly a city. It is a long way off in the distance. At the bottom of the mountain is fire, a raging fire preventing access to the top of the mountain. In front of the fire, there is a vicious dragon pacing back and forth guarding the mountain. There is a road that leads towards the dragon to the mountain. On this road is an army of lions marching towards the dragon. An army of male lions with their great manes flowing.
I was uncertain about the exact meaning of the vision at first. Initially, I thought that this represented our pastors being separated from our congregation by Saten. He had introduced warfare in our church to separate some from their faith by testing their faith. Unfortunately some have fallen away. However, there are some still marching on to conquer Saten's evil devices and schemes.
Later, I met with a wise woman in our...

when god asked me what my name was... |

I'm going to write a vision I had on Sunday at church. This is something profound so I won't hold it back and I will tell of my experience. I had a vision where I was washing some clothes by a river stream. A man walked up behind me and asked me very clearly "tell me your name?" For some reason I couldn't turn around and I didn't want to, so I went back to washing my clothes. Again he said "tell me your name?" I replied this time and told him "no" He said it the third time again but a lot stronger "Tell me your name?" I replied crying and tons of tears in my eyes "No I won't tell you my name!" And then this man said to me "then tell me the meaning of it?" I turned around still crying with tears in my eyes and said "the meaning of my name means powerful leader and ruler." And once more he asked me very gently "tell me your name?" And I dropped my clothes and got up and said "Erica, my name is Erica." He looked at me and smiled and said "My daughter from this...

grace glimmers in new ministry |

Some of my sisters in Christ and I have been fasting on Wednesdays for four months, to pray and discern God's will for the formation of a new ministry. My mentor had a vision for a new ministry, and a distinct vision for which ladies are to be included. Most of the ladies I knew from previously serving in ministry with, but one lady I hadn't met yet. So this past Wednesday was our last fast day, and we had agreed to meet for brunch on Saturday to pray together, to share insights gleaned during our fast, and to meet each those we didn't know. Of the initial six of us, only four were able to attend.
It was a glorious time. I thoroughly enjoyed the reunion with those I knew and felt glimmers of joy reawakening in my spirit. I also got to know the one I had not met. There was just an instant bonding as I stood face to face with this woman I had prayed for over the last four months, my sister in Christ who I'd never met.
I so believe that God has called us all to serve Him. I left a sweet season...

a step of faith |

I have this past week been reminded of the "step of faith" I took in August 2006. I heeded the Lord's conviction regarding the industry I was in, and resigned without a job to go to. An absolute first for me. The plan was for my family and me to move back to Cape Town. Now, as an expatriate in East and West Africa, which incidentally helped fund my ministry, the salary was exceptionally high with housing, motor vehicle, school fees etcetera all paid for by the company. So, a huge consideration to leave all this behind. But, through a vision, it was clear that my heeding of the conviction and obedience was going to be the start of an exciting chapter in both mine and my family's lives.
We have since settled in Cape Town where the cost of living is way over the top and, for the first time in our lives, the feast has become a case of us having to really tighten our belts! I work for a great company and love what I do. We are part of a fantastic Church, and have made the most amazing friends that we could ever have wished for....

Prophecy September 07
The Word of the Lord came unto me in a vision recently, it greatly troubled me as the vision was so specific. I saw wickedness on the earth which was afflicting man. The Lord showed me that behind every wicked evil sin, sickness, disasters, floods, earthquakes etc, was the work of demonic evil powers. The Lord showed me that the earth has become vile in every sense of the word. By opening and shutting my eyes I could control how much of the wickedness of mankind I would see in the vision.
Then my attention was brought to a vision of heaven, I saw Jesus Christ flying through the heavens. I saw Him very clearly, He was dressed in white apparel, with a mighty sword raised in His right hand, His hair was black flowing behind Him as He surged across the heavens.
I looked upon His face, it was the face of a mighty warrior, it reminded me of the scripture in Ezekiel 38:18, "Saith the Lord God, that my fury shall come up in my face." Then I saw a gathering of men, which I believe now to be the four and twenty elders who...

Recently I've seen a few of the members on CB write about their dreams for their lives, so I thought I'd share mine. But before I do that lets look at some of what the Bible says about dreams and visions.
Acts 2:17 tells us, "In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams." Brothers and sisters I am sure none of us need convincing that we are living in the last days. Our Father tells us that in these days He is going to pour out His spirit, just like He did in that small room on the day of Pentecost. These visions and dreams in the Word are usually of things to come. Visions can take the form of several things from single events to overall visions for your life. Why would He show his people the visions that he has for our lives? So that we can seek him, follow His Word, and see those visions realized!
Proverbs 29:18 says, "Where there is no vision, the people parish..." These words can apply to...

judgment |

Judgment, what does God's word tell us about this? Is there really a day of judgment? When will it be? What will it be like? Do all go before the judge?
The Bible teaches that everyone of us will stand before the judge and give an account of ourselves. "For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body." 2 Corinthians 5:10 NLT. "And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak." Matthew 12:36 NLT. "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable." Hebrews 4:13 NLT. Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God. Romans 14:12 NLT
King Solomon concludes: "Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone's duty. God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad." Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 NLT
Have you ever thought about this? Does it make you nervous? What will this...

This is all new to me, although I write a lot, continually. So, hopefully, I will do what is acceptable, and it will be meaningful.
Reading some of the other blog's, I came across one that asked questions about this subject, and since I have studied it quite deeply, here is what I believe every Christian needs to know.
Some teach that there is going to be a General Judgment at the end of the world, and use a passage in Matthew to justify their view. However, having spent hours, days, weeks, months and years in studying the scriptures, and expecting God the Holy Spirit to guide me and teach me as I do, here is what I believe based on scriptures.
1- Every Christian is going to have to appear before Christ, as our judge, when the church is airlifted up into heaven. Many call that the rapture. 2 Corinthians 5:10, is one of the most revealing scriptures on this as it says that we are all going to have to stand before God at the Judgment Seat of Christ, where our works, all of them, good and acceptable as well as ones that God will not be happy...

Raising a Dragging Anchor
It can be invigorating to begin with a new perspective on life. I do this all the time. "OK, today I will and I mean it this time. No matter what else I will succeed!" It's typically the same issues: diet, exercise, finish reading a book, calling family, making new friends, time with spouse, read to the kids more often, family devotions, Bible reading...and the list goes on.
A few great days and then a pretty good week and finally at the end of the month and I'm dragging the anchor across the bottom of a vast sea I know as "daily life". I refuse to admit defeat and at the end of month 2; I jump back in with both feet and give it...oh about 48 to 36 hours of good steam. Then I'm dragging that anchor again. Why do we decide to do and then don't. Now there's a million dollar question. If you really figure out how to stop this phenomenon, write it in a book as it will surely be a Best Seller, if it really worked! I'm not alone in this struggle and it's not a new issue. The Apostle Paul...

saved from witchcraft - story of my mum's salvation |

(Posted: 12/01/06 5:51am)
After I got saved, I got an offer to study at a university in Kuala Lumpur, the national capital of Malaysia. It was about 200 km from my hometown of Ipoh. There I enrolled in a discipleship class conducted by The Navigators and began to grow in the Lord. I remember praying for the salvation of my family members. By then my family had found out that I believed in Jesus and no longer took part in the family idol worship rituals. They were threatening to disown me as I had brought shame on them by betraying their religous beliefs which was in a way inseparable from our ethnic identity and culture.
My father was a spiritual medium and provided witchcraft "services" to a group of his clients. Some would come for physical healing or for financial blessings. Yet others came to hurt or harm others that were either business rivals or personal enemies. My mother was his able assistant. I remember my dad would start by chanting certain mantras and would sing songs and call upon certain spirits to come and possess him. Eventually he would enter into a trance and start speaking in strange words and my mother...

So I was getting re-upped in the spirit down by the lake yesterday. I was reading Psalm 1 and as I was praying I started to feel myself lose balance... like I was being pulled. But then I'd come back and catch myself before I fell.
Then I had a vision. MY FIRST!
I saw this tree with lots of fruits hanging off of it. But there was soil around it instead of holding the tree in. It was starting to fall. I kept switching back and forth between that and a telephone pole or just a long wooden pole in the ground.
I think I made some sense out of it. I've got the fruit to bear, but I don't have to foundation to hold myself up yet. And I need to get a stronger biblical base under me. If not, I'm going to be another piece of fruitless lumber. After reading Psalm 1 and seeing this, that's what I came up with about it. Hopefully I interpret well. It's the first vision I have had.
It's time for a newest hardest band I've introduced... Demon Hunter. These guys are the leaders in Christian hardcore. I try to shy...

Hello
This is my first blog ever!
I just felt led to share my vision with you. The Lord has laid it on my heart to open a Christian bookshop/cafe/outreach centre. A place where Christians can get together, and also where non-Christians are welcome to drop-in for a coffee and chat. It would provide a gentle, peace-filled, non-threatening environment in which to introduce people to the Lord.
I don't know (yet) how I will manage to finance this. But I can only trust in Him to show me the way.
Sue (UK)...

The Heart Behind the Strategies...
In strategizing and preparing for whatever position God is leading me I have come up with a vision of what i would like to see. Actually "come up with" is probably a wrong way to put it. The things listed have been stirring in me for a number of years. But in creating a picture like that, it sometimes misses the heart behind it. It is an exciting picture and i will dedicate myself to that vision, but it is not simply for the sake of completing a goal or a project.
The driving force behind everything that i have done in the past and hopefully in the future is...I love Jesus and I want to make His name great! And I don't want to do anything without Him. When I answered the call to "preach the word" sitting by myself in a tiny little cabin at a Christian Camp in NY (Mission Meadows), my response was "ok...i think you are crazy, but if this is really you I'll do it...just as long as you promise to be with me." I know it is a very spiritual response to a calling to the ministry...calling god...

The Way I See Church...
this is from my personal journal, but it is edited for public consumption!
The way i see church:
Main Services
*Seeker Sensitive (conscience, friendly) Exist to be a "bridge" church. We are missionaries to our own culture.
*True Jesus-focused worship
*Announcements are video and sharp...and limited!
*Each month a ministry highlighted in the foyer
*Message is about life issues, from the Word in a real way
*Promotion of sermon series through marketing
*There is no dress code, staff encouraged to dress neat but casual, except at special events.
*Music is modern, mostly upbeat and well done with a focus on the Lord not on people
*Team teaching from staff throughout series on different subjects to provide varied viewpoints.
Ministry Groups
*led by the laity, with opportunity for growth and employment as ministry and needs grow.
*Purpose is to minister and meet needs, not fellowship only
*Home groups
*Depending on the communities needs: Substance abuse recovery groups, divorce recovery, step family groups, legal clinics, single parent support, etc.
*Tech teams include: graphic design, video design and editing, web site development, sound mixing and support, camera teams, etc.
Equipping
*Ministry training and education center. (VLI style, or Berean,...

An old school mate of mine, and someone I consider a dear friend, Jeff Mikels, posted an entry in his blog this past week entitled, "Memoirs from NWBC" in which he details the first five (5) years of his ministry as a Senior Pastor.
I had the amazing opportunity to reunite with Jeff since our days of high school (some 15-odd years ago) back in 2001. I had been in New York for most of the year and soon after 9/11 happened I decided it was time to get back home in California, where the only major things that happen are former movie actors become Governors and big earthquakes happen (sometimes at the same time, too!) On my way back I stopped in at his church in Chicago, IL for maybe an hour or two. For the last year or so Jeff and his wife and child have been working on raising funds to be able to start a church plant in Lafayette, Indiana.
Anyway, back to his recent blog. What Jeff did was recount some of the major highlights (and not so pretty factors) that ministers encounter while being in ministry. As I read through the entire blog (took...
