Just trying to pull some thoughts together that have been on my mind lately.
I used to be so much closer to my Father than I am today. Such deeper worship. Such intense prayer and intercession times. In worship, prayer or study daily. To the point that I would think something like, "I want to watch a movie or TV. show, do something normal." In actuality I wanted to get away from the spiritual to the carnal for a little while. How backwards I had things. I WAS getting normal. What He would call normal probably. And I would pull myself out of it for a day or so.
Which is like missing church for some. I learned in the beginning to not miss church. Miss one service and it becomes a little easier to miss the next. Then easier to miss another and another till I am totally out. I saw that happen to so many. There are reasons not to forsake fellow shipping with one another. My mom went ‘round and ‘round that mountain. And one day I told that to her. Months later she was not missing anymore and I overheard her telling someone else how it...

From "The Purpose Driven Life" By Rick Warren
Planned For God's Pleasure
"For God planted them like strong and graceful oaks for his own glory." Isaiah 61:3 LB
"Because of His love God has already decided that through Jesus Christ he would make us His children-this was His pleasure and purpose." Ephesians 1:5 TEV
In my life, worship is such a HUGE aspect. i've always got David Crowder or BarlowGirl or KLOVE playing, and i study piano from worship music books like Casting Crowns and MercyMe. i am working on some form of music on a variety of instruments every day. it's like eating for me, take away my music long enought, i'll croak. But worship isn't just the music; high powered, "grace-like-rain" and "here-is-our-king", on your knees, tears streaming, and rawkfists (maybe that's just me). Worship is a life style. one year at camp the theme was Worship. The girls in my cabin and i came to the conclusion that worship is "giving your best to the Lord in EVERY aspect of your life." Rick Warren wrote "Worship is far more than music...You may think of worship services with singing, praying, and listening to a sermon. Or you may...

Let's take another trip into today news. Daniel 8:23-, "After their rein, when sinners have reached their measure..." 2Timothy 3," There will come times of stress for men will be lovers of themselves..." Back to Daniel 8:23 "There will rise a king, impudent and skilled in intrigue.""And the second seal was open, and there came a red horse and rider and a great sword was given to him to conquer and kill..." Now the word of God is a great sword and those who use it wrongly, well they succeed in their purpose...to kill, maim and destroy.
Daniel 8:24,"He shall be strong and powerful, bringing about fearful ruin and succeed in his undertaking". Modern religion is very successful in its undertaking. "And he was given a crown and bow to conquer and he did conquer..." Liars will come that will deceive even the very holiest elect if possible. Daniel 8:25 "His cunning shall be against the holy ones, his treacherous conduct will succeed..." The prime directive of the devil is to deceive the holy people of what true religion is and bring them into his camp and put them to sleep, poverty and destruction.
"Now the serpent was more cunning...

creation or creation? |

Have you taken the time to notice how the world seemed to come alive after the winter months when everything was in hibernation? The trees, flowers, and the birds are all newly alive. The Bible tells us that we can know that there is a God just by looking around at the things of nature. His creation is awesome!
I recently read some articles on a Buddhist and a Hindu web site. How many of you know that they believe that God is in everything? Plants, rocks, animals etc. They express worship to all of these things, kind of like the people of the world who worship the sun, moon, trees, etc.
Why would they overlook the Creator and worship the creation? As I mentioned in the beginning of this article that we can know that there is a God just by looking around us. (Romans 1) These things are from the hand of God BUT they are not God!
"Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man - and birds and four footed animals and creeping things." (Romans 1:22-23)
I wonder, as Christians, if we...

First I read a blog about 1Thess1, then I wrote a blog on example after that, then I go to church and the Pastor speaks on 1Thess1, about example. I like to believe that this topic about example is central to a genuine Christian. It touches church worship vs. real weekday worship.
It may go to unveil hypocrisy, where our religion is just a show. Or just believing and living a lie. Real example unveils real worship and real devotion. In Revelations there talks about the first seal broken and white horse with rider that comes to conquer. Following it is red horse with violence.
First comes the lie, the dissimulation, false worship, and show of false religion. Then comes violence, the fruit of those who partake of that table with the white horse religion, twisting scriptures to fit their whim and lust. Usually those who worship lies lead violent lives and poverty follow next. After that you are dead spiritually.
1Thess1 can be the hub of many topics because it deals of how real religion and faith carry a sincere devotion to God or lack of it. Everybody heard of those in Thessalonica. Do people see your faith? Am...

i will sit on my watch and will see what the Lord will say to me. what does it mean to watch? we have more of an understanding of praying, but what about watching. it may sound offensive but within the body is a lack of knowledge or ignorance concerning spiritual things. the devil is on our heels and can see the pride and ignorance within us. as a lion watching and stalikng his prey so is the adversary. he seems to be within the church more than any other place and how can he be where the people of God are except that we gave him and give him access. but if God were truly in our midst he could not break forth upon us as he wishes to because when we are hidden in God he cannot get to us but will always seek to work through people to get into us because he himself cannot come where we are seeing that we are hidden. and it is time that we begin to learn this strategy and technique of learning how to hide in Christ Jesus. in the book of revelation there are the remnant that are hidden...

what on earth does church have to do with counseling? |
 |
 |
Posted by:

(Posted: 06/12/08 9:00pm)
The role of the church in the believers life is to lead him/her into worship (1 Corinthians 11:18), fellowship (Acts 4:31), instruction (Acts 2:42), and ministry (Acts 13:2). Each of these roles plays a part in the counseling process. The ultimate outcome of each of these functions is that people will continue to be saved (Acts 2:47) and then "counseled" in the faith (Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:15-17). The role of church worship is the time to recognize and declare the greatness of God. It is the time when attention is placed on appropriately expressing God's nature rather than pursuing feelings of subjective satisfaction. Worship places the attention of counselees on the proper priority, namely the character of God. Fellowship also aids counselees in the sharing of their experiences and burdens with one another (1 Corinthians 12:26; Galatians 6:2). The other side of this coin is the restoration of the believer, when necessary (Matthew 18:15-17). Instruction also aids counselees in knowing what Christ has commanded (Matthew 28:20). Ministry and mission in turn also aid counselees in learning how to serve others (1 John 3:17-18) as well as witness to them (Matthew 28:19)....

"Kind God in heaven, we give you praise and glory. May your name be blessed forever and ever. We want to worship and adore you good God." How true is that? That was the first entry on my brand new journal. I put it back on the shelf three or four times. I finally decided to buy it. About the entry. Is that really true? We want to worship and adore you good God. What does God really want from us? I'll tell you what he doesn't want. In Amos 5:21- God tells Amos what he doesn't want. "I hate your special suppers. I will have nothing to do with them. And I'm not pleased with your religious meetings. 22-, Even if you give me burnt gifts and grain gifts in worship, I will not receive them.
I will not look at your peace offerings or your fat animals. Take away the noise of your songs away from me. I will not listen to the sound of your harps. BUT, let what is fair roll down like waters. Let what is right and good flow forever like a river." On Matthew 7:21, Jesus says, " Not everyone who calls me...

i am just wondering how many people are worshippers and seekers of God. a seeker is also a worshipper, and only seeks to worship the Lord and know Him and please Him. when we are seekers we don't do church but we learn how become the church which is through relationship with the Lord. our relationship with Him is based on worship, and so if we don't have a true lifestyle of worship with Him we are powerless in our ministry because our lifestyle is and should be where the ministry of God through us should flow. so often we become dry and content and we need a fire burning constantly just like in the temple the lamps had to continue to burn. the church needs a fire lit in her that will first convict her of her sins and that will lead her to repentance with a broken heart and spirit that has been humbled. we need so much of these things plus a healthy dose of the fear of the Lord because if we had this first of all we would not have fallen into the sin we have falled into, because this wakes us up and causes...

Worship is not an option
Psalm 99:9 (NLT)
Exalt the Lord our God
and worship at his holy mountain in Jerusalem,
for the Lord our God is holy!
This morning as I got up and begin to read my devotions. I began to think of what the Lord was saying to me but not only me but also to you. I read in the OT, Judges 8:18-9:21, when someone shouted to get the peoples attention. With the raising of the voice they listened.
I not advocating screaming at God or raising your voice. What I am suggesting that we make worship a vital part of our everyday life. As a pastor and my wife the worship leader, we are blessed that we have a church that worships but sometimes there is point where worship is like getting a tooth pulled at a dentist (painful). We have make choice that this will be a vital part of our life. This is to say that we don't need to wait for Sunday to truly worship thought that is a place where we can worship in unity. This is to say that we need to worship the Lord for he is holy.
This...

You know what I was meditating on the other day? Well I was reading the Bible and I realized that out of all the psalms King David wrote, he never wrote to any of his poems and songs to his wives? And if you know the story of King David...he had lots of wives. Lately God has been speaking into my heart that not only lifting you hands and reading the Bible is worship, but more than that! The other day I was thinking about something else and I heard the Holy Spirit whisper these words to me: Worship is not just a weekly thing but a lifestyle in Christ Jesus and desiring to be more like Christ Jesus So I broke it down. If worship is a lifestyle in Christ Jesus shouldn't we be desiring to love and think just like Jesus? If you read the Gospels Mathew, Mark, Luke and John you will see that Jesus was ALWAYS thinking about doing his fathers will. Shouldn't I be more like that, shouldn't we? If worship is a lifestyle our thoughts should be pointing at God not other people or materialistic things. And if our eye is the window to...

So today in english class we started learning about certain writers called transcentalists. These kinds of people believed in some things i thought were true and then..some things i didnt. They believed that to have a REALLY good relationship with God, you had to find it in nature. Hearing this was kind of weird but i figured..maybe..as long as you had a close relationship with God it didnt really matter how you did it? I dont know. Anyway..they also believed that you shouldnt care what people think, that you shouldnt follow what society says. Like..that you shouldnt go to church or other places to worship. You should go find your own place and worship God the way you feel. They say to not care if you contradict what you say everyday. You should say what you feel at exactly that moment, even if your opinion changes the next day. That you shouldnt care what people think about you. And that you should never envy another person because it doesnt change anything, you'll always have what you have. That you should live and be yourself as God made you. Obviously some of these things i agree with like living and liking...

a revelation of true worship |

April 6, 2008
There is a diverse selection of thoughts, teachings, doctrines, and "How-To" manuals that are available to us in our modern culture of Christianity that relate to the subject of worship. A few days ago I spent quite a bit of time just browsing a local Christian bookstore and I came to an overwhelming conclusion; somebody knows just enough about something to make you think you know nothing about everything! Every imaginable angle you can conceive has been explored in the subject of Worship. What could possibly be revealed that could serve to enlighten us with a deeper understanding of our worship? I mean, as I looked at all of the four-color book covers, and the complete workbook kits that would guide me to what worship was really meant to be, I had to read them all, at once, without pause, just in case I was missing something about God and His desire regarding worship!
I found the same setting I was experiencing in the book of Acts (Acts 17:22-29). Paul was on his evangelistic journey through city after city spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Fresh from the Damascus Road conversion, and of course that little "Jerusalem...

We have been attending a church for maybe two months now. Not, exactly my top pick for a church, it has a denomination, the worship is very subdued, the people are friendly enough, but often we go without a greeting from anyone. There's a couple of doctrinal things we don't agree with. but nothing terribly serious. The message on Resurrection Sunday all left us wanting, and maybe a bit confused. But it is good for us to be in a church for corporate worship. I do like how the preaching stays on the Scripture and doesn't bounce all over the place. We turn to a passage of Scripture and we stay there. I do like that.
The last couple weeks we have been studying Philippians, we are still on Philippians 1, and will go through the whole book but God spoke to me so loud and clear yesterday I was reduced to tears.
The book of Philippians was written by Paul while he was chained to two palace guards when in Rome. I knew this and I have read Philippians many times, I even did an in depth women's Bible study on Philippians a few years back but a Truth...

I don't know quite how to start out this blog. I want to discuss worship among the youth. In my church we have a decently large youth group. Wednesday nights we have our own service, where we have contemporary worship with music from bands like Hillsong. I have heard people say that this kind of worship is compromising, and that it sounds just like a "rock and roll concert". This aggravates me so much, because these are the services where i feel the Holy Spirit the most, and where he speaks to my heart the most often. Its the kind of music that will bring me to my knees in tears because of the Lord's love. They talk about it like its a bad thing. At my church they started a Saturday night contemporary services open for anyone interested and they are also anointed.
"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity."
-1 Timothy 4:12 (New International Version)
This generation needs to show how much we love God!
lets have a revival!

The True Christian
To be a true Christian you have to...
... Go to the right church.
...Wear the right cloths.
...Talk just right.
...Make sure every one sees you go to church.
John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him.
So many people put an emphasis on God that they take it way to far. There is a verse in a song from Casting Crowns that ask if anybody has traded in the alter for a stage. The problem is that's what the whole church has done. Every one is more consered about what others think instead of what God thinks. The next verse says, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.
Now if Jesus is our example of how we are to live for God, then let find out how he live.
He cast out demons; Luke 4:35
He healed; Luke 5:12-13
He prayed; Luke 5:16
He kept God's house holy; Matthew 21:12-13
He put God before even his family; Matthew 12:46-50
He went to church;...

I was thinking of posting a blog here once a week that would encapsulate something I've learned or discovered that week about worship teams. If you'd like to begin that process with me and do the same, I think many worship leaders and members of worship teams would truly benefit from that exchange. I'll start here with a short idea that maybe everyone can expand on:
Worship Team Practices. How do you keep them productive, timely and organized? I'll post my thoughts at a later time, but maybe the topic will get others going.
Also, I'd love to see a list of websites that one can visit to get real ideas from real worship leaders. Thoughts? Is it permissible to make a list of them here? There is a fairly new one, all praise dot com, and of course the ol' standby, worship together dot com, but I'd bet we all have a list of them we visit and if we're allowed to share them here, that would be a great resource for all of us who are interested in worship music or teams to compile and save to our favorites.
This is my first blog here, so I'll keep...

Last night my daughter went to a youth group at her best friends' church. I purposely put the apostrophe at the end of friends because they are twins Anyway, she was very excited to go and growing up in a Pentecostal church, she thought she knew what to expect. She took her other friend who came from a reformed church and was ready to explain things to her. The twin's dad is the pastor of this church and she respects the whole family. Last night they had visiting churches come perform for the youth in the form of skits, sermons, etc. It began with a skit making fun of the King James Version of the Bible. They made fun of the language and Moses etc. Shauna felt upset and thought it was blasphemous. Then a preacher got up and told them if they were not up dancing in the aisles and praising the Lord how could they profess to be Christian. The twins at this point were horrified and apologized over and over. The next thing was an offering for a carnival they were having which they said everyone should give to even the guests. Another preacher got up and...

Everyone has or had a first love, no, not a girl/boy friend. I mean, like, sports, cars, math or science something like that.
Mine was space, outer space and anything to do with it. I watched all the TV shows saw all the movies.
Got a star map and a little telescope when I was about 8 years old. Yup! I'm talking before we went to the moon. Before we even had a rocket worth its' weight. President Kennedy had already given the speech and it was all the craze.
I studied the moon with young boy vigor with my little telescope, like I was going to see something important. I did, I saw a lot of important things looking up at the night sky. I saw mystery and intrigue. I saw magic and wonders beyond belief. I saw questions and reflections. I didn't know it till many years later. After I had accepted Jesus as my Savior. I saw Gods' amazing marvel of Creation through that little telescope.
Now I believe we, people, are the amazing marvel of Gods' Creation.
Growing up, even when at the worst of my sinful life, I watched the sky. I still do. To...

God's name and the name of Jesus should be viewed as precious, to be revered with the utmost adoration possible. People who misuse His holy name seem to be those who have a fledgling worship relationship with Him, or are non-believers. What do I mean by worship relationship?
True worshipers would be people who sees themselves as sinners, unworthy of any merit in the eyes of God, and they humbly submit themselves and their lives to Him. True worshipers would be appreciative of His wonderful grace toward them. They see themselves in relation to the awesome God of the universe, devoid of the full comprehension of the greatness, vastness and limitless attributes of God. In this realization true worshipers would see themselves as a small speck in comparison, and in total awe of God's supremacy and sovereignty. True worshipers have the foundation to establish a worship relationship with God, whereby He would be the recipient of all praise, thanks, obedience, and reverence; and the worshipers would harbor humility and dependence on Him. In the world, God and Jesus' names are used with such commonality, and spoken so routinely in a non-revering manner, that the awareness of slander and blasphemy appear...

I have a great church. I have 24 years of my life there. We recently went through a pastoral change and he changed my position as worship leader. I've made peace with the fact that I am no longer leading worship. I think we have a fantastic new pastor He has great ideas and great plans. He's moving our church forward...I think. What I'm struggling with this morning is that I just don't feel it. I don't feel a part. I don't feel welcome. But most of all, I don't feel the Spirit of God moving. It seems like other people do. Other people say they are excited about what God is doing, but I just don't see it or feel it. The services lack something. I'm just not sure what it is. My husband feels the same way. We don't know if God is trying to move us on to something else, if we're in tune to the Spirit, or what. I don't feel like I've been to church in weeks. I've been to the building, I've listened to good sermons, but as far as having an encounter with God....it's not happened. Is it possible that my husband and...

Do we think God is Stupid?
Jesus told a rich young man once that in order to follow him his must sell all that he had. The young man, to put it mildly could not do it. His wealth was too hard to let go of in exchange for eternal life. We tell I see the same thing happening in the church. However, it appears that we are giving up things to follow Christ. That's right, I said it APPEARS that we are giving up things to follow Christ. Why did I repeat that statement. Simply put. Many are coming to Christ but they are not surrendering all, thus they are not truly coming to Christ. I have heard tales of hundreds of young people getting saved at Christian rock and roll concerts and holy hip hop concerts. What you actually have are a bunch of young people flooding the altar after their fleshly entertainer has told them to come and receive of the Lord after a wild like flesh fest of unholy worship. If you follow the lives of many of the young people that attend these meeting then you will see that nothing has changed. Does a few...

Have you ever thought of the recognized positions of prayer, and of praise and worship in the Church today? A number of them unfortunately are not often seen in the Church today though.
We read that there are, in fact, eight recognized positions of prayer and worship: they are; standing upright, sitting, inclining of the head and neck , bowing at the waist, touching our forehead to the floor, bending one's knees, standing on one's knees , and holding a bow to the earth.
People ask why in praise and worship there is the raising of hands. Why do we do this? The Bible says;
"So I will bless Thee as long as I live, I will lift up my hands in Thy name." Psalm 63:4 "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord." Psalm 134:2
Raising hands to me means surrender. We surrender ourselves to the Lord we adore and love. Likewise, when I get the opportunity to worship in the congregation as opposed to having a guitar around my neck, I cannot stand still. If I'm not clapping my hands or raising them, I find myself swaying! Some of you may think we're odd, charismatic,...

What a difference a day makes.
Yesterday I was in such a place of despair. Through many circumstances I had fallen out of serving in ministry. God had allowed several instances to occur in an area of ministry He's gifted me in. This area is worship. Not in so much my vocals, which are decent, but in moving His Spirit when I led. It was His gifting entirely. When we moved here and found a church, worship was an area of need. My husband and myself volunteered for worship team and served there. I didn't lead for a while, but eventually replaced the worship leader when he stepped down. Prior to moving, I had been serving as a worship leader and had felt the support of the body, and the confirmation of God's calling in this area. During worship, I have always been free to stop and just pray if I know that God is tugging my heart to do so. If there is a verse He has put on my heart, to speak it out. A word of encouragement for His body, who He loves. I knew no other way, and continued to do this. The response of the...

my church recently added a new service. we're a contemporary church, but we wanted to do things a little different in this new service. i lead the worship, and we've been doing things that are more interactive, like worship stations and creative object-type lessons. i've gotten good feedback from people in church, and the pastor seems to be all for it, but i feel a little unsure because i've never really done anything like this before for the most part, and this type thing (some call it postmodern worship) is not done in our neck of the woods. i can get ideas from cyberspace, but i'm wondering if there's anyone out there who has experience with doing worship like this. the kids in our church love this. they get to draw pictures, play with objects that have a connection to GOD, do activities with their families...but i feel like i don't really have a clear vision of where i'm going with this. i just know that i need to try this to help people in my church connect with GOD and learn to respond to him. we're a young congregation. we're only 4 years old and growing so quickly that...

Hello gang
I pray you are all doing well. I've been writing up a storm. It's not articles, but Christmas gift poems; therefore, I am sending out a very short write-up on this Holiday. I've been approached by two to three people in regards to their problem with the date and how we celebrate Christmas. I need to speak on this. Some say Jesus was born in September. Some say October. Some say December. Some even say June. Whatever the case, all of it is speculation. We can only make our best guess from the scant information out there. All I know is that he was born about 2000 years ago. Isn't this the most important thing? That he was born, lived, died, and resurrected. I find Christmas a very special time to come together as a family of believers to worship the King. It's also a very special time for the children and all of us to refocus and recommit our lives afresh unto Jesus. Isn't this the heart of it? I'm with you. I dislike all the commercialism, glitz, and shallowness that has attached itself to this holiday; however, if this holiday challenges us to love and follow...
