English: Sermon - Nursing Home 1/29/12
Prophetic Exaltation and Word received 1/26/12 spoken at Nursing Home 1/29/12
This is the day the Lord has made. Let us be blessed and rejoice together for the Lord God is with us in this place. He is our strength, He is our provider, He is our healer, He is our comforter. Let us bless His Holy Name as we gather together to worship our Lord Jesus Christ.
I would like for each of you to open your ears to hear this Word and receive it as if Jesus is speaking directly to you. Praise to you Jesus!
I am with you in this place. My hand is upon you and I bring healing to your spirit, soul and body. Hearken to the Word of God. Let the Word fill you up and nourish you. Know that I love each of you and want you as My own. Jesus says: Come to me, give your heart to Me and I will walk with you and talk with you for the rest of your days. I am calling you to give your life to Me. The one who saw you before you were born. The one who carried you through the storms of your life. The one who desires to be near to you each and every day. Reach out to Me. I am here waiting for you to call out My Name. I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. I will not turn away anyone who calls out to Me.
Prayer: Lord God, Thank you for your presence here with us today. Thank you for your Word of truth. Thank you for inviting each of us to call out to you and for the promise that you will not turn any away. Open our ears to hear the message of your Word this morning. Let it penetrate our hearts. I speak healing to the spirit, soul and body of those who are enabled to receive. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen
Spirit, Soul and Body and The Light of Jesus
The Bible tells us God is Spirit.
In John 4 verse 24 it reads: "God is Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth."
God created mankind in three parts. He gave each of us a spirit, a soul and a body.
The spirit is the supernatural part of man given the ability to communicate directly with God.
The soul is the individual personality of man; mind, will and emotions.
The physical body was created to house the spirit with a soul.
Many people are confused about spirit and soul having been taught or simply have come to assume that spirit and soul refer to one and the same thing. This is not accurate. The following two Scripture passages provide clarification:
From 1 Thess. 5:23 "And the very God of peace, sanctify you wholly; And I pray (to) God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Hebrews 4:12-13 tells us "For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit and of the joints and marrow; and (the Word of God) is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
God created man in His own image. An image of holiness and purity.
"So God created man in His own image; in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them." Genesis 1:27
At the time of creation, the spirit of man was created in the very image of God and the soul and body were able to reflect this image perfectly.
In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were in direct communion with God. Adam and Eve talked directly with God and literally walked in the presence of God. Adam and Eve experienced (knew) first hand Gods love and His goodness. They were fully holy and pure. Complete harmony between mans spirit, soul and body existed. Every part of man could be and was in direct communion with God.
Discuss diagram 1 Jesus put His light into our spirit and gave life to our soul and body at the time of our birth.
Reading John 1:3-5 3 Through Him (Jesus Christ) all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 8:12 I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
Unity of Spirit, Soul and Body
Mankind was given a spirit that was meant to communicate and fellowship directly with God. And, God gave mankind a soul that provided him with his own individual personality - mind, free will and emotions. God, also, gave man dominion over the earth. Man was to rule over the earth.
Genesis 1:28-29
"And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish (means fill) the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, "Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat (food)."
Genesis 2:19
"And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air: and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof."
Harmony Muddled
The perfect harmony that existed at the time of creation between God and Man and all living things and between man s spirit, soul and body became muddled when sin entered the world.
Discuss diagram 2 When man sinned and entered into rebellion toward God, sin blocked the spirit from being able to hear the voice of God. Man became separated from God and the flame in man s spirit was snuffed out. We became dead in sin.
Man was no longer able to perfectly reflect the image of God. Every part of man - spirit, soul and body - now operates in a state of confusion rather than in harmony. Man was created to have a relationship with God, to commune and to fellowship with the Creator. Our spirit longs for and needs to be directly connected to God. Our soul and bodys need is to come into harmony with our spirit.
Born with a desire to sin, mans sinful nature acts as a very strong barrier blocking the ability of mans spirit to commune "walk and talk" directly with God. Separation from God and His presence (spiritual death) can only be remedied when the spirit is quickened through being born again in Jesus Christ.
John 3: 6-7 That which is born of flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto you, you must be born again.
Originally we were created in the image of God. Now everyone is born in the likeness and image of Adam.
Genesis 5: 1-3 "This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made He him; male and female created He them, and called their name Adam in the day when they were created,
And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth."
Gods Word does tell us that originally God created man (Adam and Eve) in His own image. But, Gods Word goes on to tell us that all descendants of Adam and Eve are born in the likeness after the image of Adam.
Before any descendants were born to Adam and Eve, sin had entered the world. Adam and Eve could no longer perfectly reflect the image of God. Thus, their descendants reflected the likeness and image of Adam and Eve, not the image of God. The image of God reflects holiness and purity. The image of God does not include sin.
Romans 5:12 "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned."
1 Corinthians 15:21 "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive."
Jesus Christ IS Image of God
There is only One who is the perfect image of God, He is the Son of God and the Son of man, Jesus Christ. The only one who was born sinless and lived a sinless life on earth.
2 Corinthians 4:4 "lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."
Hebrews 1:3 "(Jesus) who being the brightness of His (Gods) glory, and the express image of His (Gods) person, and upholding all things by the Word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high."
Colossians 1:15-16 "(Jesus) who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature. For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible. . . all things were created by Him and for Him."
Becoming a New Creature in Christ
Man originally was a creature created in the image of God. Mans sin changed this and man became a creature born in the likeness and image of Adam. Jesus the very image of God came to die for our sins and reconcile us to God. In Jesus Christ alone, the second Adam, we can become a new creature that is being conformed to the likeness and image of Jesus through the mighty work of the Holy Spirit.
"Therefore if any man be IN Christ, he is a new creature, old things have passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17
When I think of this, I ponder the idea that when we repent, ask forgiveness for our sin, and receive Jesus into our heart as Lord and Savior. When we surrender our life to Christ Jesus, we do become a new creation. We are washed by the very blood of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us. We are truly a new creature IN Jesus Christ.
Discuss diagram 3 The shedding of Christ s blood at the cross provides the covering for our sin and the cross serves as a bridge re-connecting us to God. We have new life in Christ, the light is lit once again in our spirit and we can hear the voice of God speak within us.
From 1 John 1:4-8 4 We write this to make our joy complete.
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
2 Corinthians 4:5-7 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus sake. 6 For God, who said, Let light shine out of darkness, made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
If you have received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior; keep walking in the light that you have in Jesus until it becomes bright enough to dispel all the darkness in your life.
Ephesians 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.
Jesus calls to each of us: Reach out to Me. I am here waiting for you to call out My Name. I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. I will not turn away anyone who calls out to Me.
Amen and Amen!
If you want to reach out to Jesus right now to ask Him to forgive you of your sins and invite Him to come into your life as Lord and Savior. I will lead you in this prayer. Repeat it after me:
"Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I come asking for forgiveness of all my sins and to forgive me of my rebellion toward you God. I ask You Jesus to come into my heart and into my life. I receive you as my Savior and you are Lord of my life. I will follow and serve you always." Amen!
Let us pray together the Lord s Prayer:
The Lords Prayer
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
I am not ashamed to let the light of Jesus shine through me!
How about you?
Dorothy
