Once again, the scroll with seven seals introduced to us in Rev 5:1-14 is Gods revelation of what is going to take place during the 70th week of Daniels prophecy (Dan 9:24-27). The seventy weeks are weeks of years therefore the 70th week is the last seven years of the prophecy.
The opening of a seal is the revealing of either (1) what is to come, or (2) the consequences of what is to come. If you will, it is similar to a trailer for a coming movie. It is a preview.
Thinking what is found in these seals is revelation of what is happening on earth at the time of the opening of a particular seal is an error and only leads to confusion and in difficulty in understanding. However, the seals, one through seven are in chronological order.
The first seal has already been discussed in my blog: THE MASTER PLAN REVEALED: The First Seal .
Understanding when the event described in this seal happens is clarified in Daniel 9:27: "Then he shall confirm a covenant for one week ", (7 years). This peace plan being confirmed by the dark prince to come marks the beginning of the seven year period. This peace will last for three and a half years as is also told us by Daniel:
Dan 9:27 "But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering ".
And again in Rev 13:5: "He was given authority to continue for 42 months ". Forty two months is three and a half years. In the modern text the word "continue " in this verse is "make war ".
It is important to understand that God is always in complete control. The devil, the anti-Christ, nor the false prophet can do anything which has not been approved by God. Remember our friend Job. The devil could bring nothing upon Job without God allowing him to do so. Things have not and will never change. God is in total control.
The anti-Christ ushers in world peace and prosperity. Warring during the first three and half years is not a war of physical violence but a spiritual war for the hearts and souls of men. The evil one destroys many through peace (Dan 8:25). Over time more and more will begin to receive him as the Messiah. Pride will build up within him and he will establish himself in the holy temple in Jerusalem and declare himself as God. When he does this the world quickly turns from peace and prosperity to war and destruction.
The second seal reveals this event. A fiery red horse went out and it was granted to the rider to take peace from the earth. Notice, it was granted. This cannot happen until God allows it to happen. Details of this war can be found in Ezekiel 38 and 39.
The third seal reveals a black horse and the rider with a pair of scales in his hands. The results from the war which was granted in the second seal is beginning to trouble man. Weapons of modern warfare not only kill through explosive power but residual effects as well. The eco system of the earth begins to fail, crops begin to fail, famine sets in, and severe inflation plagues the lives of man.
The forth seal reveals a pale horse and the name of the rider is Death, and Hades followed him. One forth of the earths population is killed via the troubles revealed by the second and third seals. They will die from hunger, there will natural as well as war casualties, and deaths by the beasts of the field. Warring is destroying the natural habitats of wild animals, therefore they migrate to where they can find food.
The fifth seal reveals souls of those who were saved and were killed during the tribulation years. A glimpse of souls who will find God during troubled times and overcome temptation and persecution till the end of their lives.
The opening of the sixth seal reveals an accumulation of signs bringing us to the day of the return of Christ to rule and reign:
-A great earth quake.
- The sun becomes black as sackcloth of hair
- The moon becomes like blood
- The stars fall from heaven (Satan and the fallen angels)
- The sky recedes as a scroll when it is rolled up
- Every mountain and island is moved out of its place
- Every unrighteous man on earth tries to hide themselves because they know the King is coming and He is angry.
We dont see the opening of the seventh seal until Rev 8:1: "There was silence in heaven for about half an hour ." Every angel and human soul in heaven is in awe with what is about to begin on earth with the sounding of the first trumpet. The sounding of the first trumpet is revealed by the opening of the second seal.
The complete plan for the final seven years has been revealed to us many centuries prior to any of the events beginning. Therefore, those who remain and are here when the anti-Christ is revealed have no excuse for not knowing.
The entire first half of the final seven year period is revealed by the opening of the first seal. These three and half years are the "hour of trial" we are told about in Rev 3:10. The word "trial " in this verse means temptation . The next three and half years are times of trouble as never seen on earth before and will never be seen again. These final three and half years are the "great tribulation " we are warned about in Rev 2:22.
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
