The heavenly realm can only be known by experience!
You cannot study your way in. You cannot buy your way in. You cannot travel with others who know that realm and thus arrive. You must pioneer the way for yourself. You can adopt the language. You can imitate the actions. You can pray ever so fervently, but even this will not open the way. The heavenly realm must be explored and understood personally. God Himself will teach you as you walk this pioneering way.
You must walk it out.
Others have cut the paths before us. We gain from their work, their words and their experiences, but we must walk the road.
T. Austin Sparks expresses it this way:
[blockquote]If really and truly we are on the heavenly road -- if we have not just started and sat down or given up: if we are moving on the heavenly road we are all pioneers. There will be values in it which others will come into because we have pioneered, but there is a sense in which every one, no matter how far behind, has got to make discoveries for himself, and it is best so. Ultimately, there is nothing second-hand in the spiritual life.i [/blockquote]
We can refuse to go, sit down and not move. Nevertheless, if we desire to know the heavenly realm, the spiritual life, we must possess the land for ourselves. We must stake a claim on our own piece of heavenly real estate. No squatters allowed!
I don t believe anyone would say it is easy. Pioneering never has been easy. One thing I can say, however, is it is never boring. It is challenging, often frustrating, exhilarating, sometimes downright frightening, but never boring!
If you are serious about the things of the Spirit you too must pioneer.
Are you serious . . . then pioneer!
