English: When I was a child I remember the excitement I felt on Christmas morning, I just couldnt wait to get my hands on those presents under the tree. The anticipation had been building for weeks and when your a child a weeks seems like forever.Â
What happened to our anticipation of the gifts from the Lord? Why do most not look upon them with the same excitement. They are in fact gifts from our Heavenly Father, how much more should we be excited about these gifts then the ones given in the world? Think about it, He already gave us all the gift of salvation. Praise God! Then He took it a step further and gave each of us a spiritual gift that we should be using to bring Glory to the Kingdom of God.
Looking into the Strongs Concordance the word gift breaks down to:[strongs]5486[/strongs] charisma ~ a divine gratuity. free gift. a spiritual endowment.
The other day I was spending time with the Lord, that sweet special quiet time. I have been thinking about the miracles that are spoken of in the book of Acts, I have been wondering for sometimes now why we are not seeing the same power of miracles that the Apostles saw in their day. I wondered what are we doing that is outside of Gods Grace that we are not seeing the same kind of healing, deliverance, and baptism by the Holy Spirit that they saw. While in my quiet time with the Lord He answered me. We have become so broken as a body of believers that we no longer EXPECT to see miracles. We no longer EXPECT to see healing. We no longer EXPECT to see deliverance. The apostles never questioned they expected when they lay their hands on someone they would be healed. The apostles expected that the demon would flee when they rebuked it in the name of Jesus. They knew the power, they accepted their gift, they walked in their calling.
Can we as the church become as bold? Will we become as excited about the gifts that the Lord bestows upon us as we do about the gifts we receive in the earthly world. Then will we accept our calling and use these gifts to edify the church? It is no longer about us, it is about Him. He loved us all so much that it was not enough for Him to give His only son. He also equipped us each with a gift to Glorify and serve Him. Follow His leading, He will show you how best to use your gift.
Always remember we serve a God of Love, we should always deal with one another in the same manner no matter your gift. Never rank your gift, one gift is not of more importance than another that is just our flesh trying to get in the way. We serve a God of order not of chaos. So in the use of our gifts in the church we must work in order. Lastly seek His will, ask Him to show you how best to Glorify Him.
Blessings!
