I remember when I met my husband, we joke because we have told others that we had a pre-arranged marriage. The Lord arranged it and luckily we obeyed Him. I was a baby in Christ when I met him, he had been saved for about 10 years. He told me his story of salvation on our first date. I smile telling you the story because I had blurted out, "If your not a Christian this isnt going to work out!" I thought at the time where in the world did that come from, now I know the Lord was at work.  We were both broken, even though he had been saved for a number of years the enemy was working at tearing him down and was doing a bang up job. I was a baby in Christ so I had lost most of my friends and was under attack often because of the drastic change that took place in my life. One day my soon to be husband looked at me and said, "Your the proverbial wife." (now remember I was a baby) I was like whaa?? But not wanting to look silly in front of him I waited till later to ask a Christian friend what that meant, they in turn led me to Proverbs 31. I rushed home to read it. I wept that night, I had never had any man say anything so beautiful to me. When we were planning our wedding I insisted that be read, it was my love letter from him. Still is.  We hadnt known each other very long when we made the decision to get married. From our first date to the date of our wedding was about 6 months. CRAZY!! Neither of us had any hesitation about the fact that we were meant for each other and further more felt no need to wait. We went through the 3 weeks of pre-marital counseling, which by the way I suggest to any couple contemplating marriage. We learned a lot about each other, things that sometimes dont come up in the courtship. We made the decision that Jesus was the head of our relationship, HE came first. Then our marriage, then if the Lord so blessed us our children. We realized early on that we were not going to make it if Jesus was not the center of everything that we did. Then we had to have a strong relationship to be the best parents possible for the 2 little ones that would later come. We want to model a working relationship for our children. What is normal for us might not be normal for others, we are aware that we are each others kinda crazy. Many years have gone by now since that whirlwind courtship. But I love him more today than the day I married him, I fall deeper in love with him all the time. I also fall deeper in love with Christ, they run parallel to each other. This was read at our wedding as well, it is our roadmap for our relationship. I remember that day like it was yesterday, I couldnt really tell you who was there. I remember the doors bursting open and there was my beloved standing at the alter waiting for me. I looked into his eyes and everything else melted away. In that moment it was just he and I and the Lord. The Preacher may have been the one to sign the marriage license but it was the Lord who wed us. We stood in front of Him and gave our lives to each other and not a day goes by that I am not thankful for the arranged marriage that the Lord gave me.
