Did you all realise that Im an ice road trucker? Ok, well I may not be an actual Ice road trucker, but as I was driving to work yesterday in the snow and Ice, I did pretend for about five minutes that I was. There I was, sitting high in my truck ( ok my megane) driving slowly to avoid slipping over into the water below ( all right then, the ditch) . All the time being fully aware that I was driving where others would fear to go ( well at my speeds anyway) . Soon enough I was reminded that I was neither on the ice or the driver of a truck, when to my dismay, around the next corner the snow had melted and I looked very very small indeed next to a real life truck (gulp) . Whats a girl to do? I could have pretended I was something else, but no, I came back to reality, pulled into my car space and became once again, a school librarian and study supervisor (ie, running after them all day) . I can pretend to be many things in this life; Taller, talented, tuneful, shy and a part time model, but alas it is only make believe. Those who know me best, know I am none of these. They know this because they have taken time to get to know me, therefore I can with confidence be me when I am around them. For they already know who I am. In Psalm 139 God reassures me that he Knows me, that he has searched me. I may not be an ice road trucker ( sigh) I may never be five foot seven (even greater sigh), but I am me, and he loves me as I am.
