When reading one recent blog by one sister, Sister Christy, bumblypick, in her blog called: How Often Are YOU The Answer??, I remembered something that left an impression in my mind for many years. When living in Boston 25 years ago, I attended one meeting where a prophet of God said that the Lord told him one principle and I want to share what he said, i.e. : dont pray unless you are willing to be part of the answer of the prayer. Think about it: How many times do we pray about something or about someone and then we expect someone else to help them, but not ourselves? Think about it: 1) Do you pray for souls for Gods Kingdom but wont tell someone about Jesus? If we think that we do the praying and let someone do the sharing, beware. When you pray for their salvation, dont leave the job to someone else. Be part of the answer to your own prayer. 2) Do you pray for some people in disaster zones, those who are sick, or in hunger, but wont give a dollar or more? Or will you not help them or minister to them because its too inconvenient, or its too troublesome or its not your cup of tea? Then why pray? Pray only when you are willing to be part of the answer to your prayer! 3) Do you pray for some finances and then expect the money to drop from the sky? Well dont laugh because many people have this type of mentality. I know of some with this type of mentality. I used to have such idea until the Lord showed me the mistake. God doesnt rain down money from Heaven, money is man made and of the world. If He rains down paper money, it will be counterfeit money! The right way for praying on financial needs is to do something about it, go and find a job, a part time job, or maybe tell a closed relative whom the Lord may direct to you. Be part of the answer to your own prayer! 4) Do you pray for lost souls in third world countries or even your neighbourhood but in your heart, you say, Lord send someone else but not me? If you do pray for lost souls, then go for missions yourself, or start supporting a missionary financially or support a mission group. Be part of the answer to that prayer. Think about it. Thats what God wants us to be, be part of the answer of our own prayer, not someone else. If the attitude is " I pray and you do the dirty or difficult job", then beware. That type of prayer is only empty praying without action and the Bible says faith without action is dead. To me, prayer without action is also dead, as prayer is faith in God and prayer without right action is dead! Be the doer, not just the one praying. By your prayer and your follow up action, you will conquer more for the Kingdom of God with true action, true love and true compassion to those who are hungry, thirsty, sick or lost without Christ. To share further, as soon as I heard this principle, the Lord tested me when I returned home to Singapore shortly thereafter. My sister who lived with 4 young girls in Australia was going for a hysterectomy. It was a major operation but there was no one to look after her kids since she lived in a small town with no closed friend or relative. I was praying about her operation, asking God to send people to help her. After praying for a few days, the Lord reminded me of the prophets word. I struggled for a while because it meant I would not be able to work for one month. Since my late mum did not speak or read English, she would need help in flight connections, therefore someone had to escort her. So I chose to obey God and I went to Armidale, NSW, Australia with my late mum to look after them for one month. Every day, I took the role of a driver, fetching the kids to school, then returned back to housecleaning and grocery shoppings, etc. I chose to obey the Lord to be part of the answer to my prayer; even it meant that I could not work for one month. By this obedience, the Lord blessed us with a 3 days holiday in Sydney before we returned home. The whole trip plus the holiday in Sydney were fully funded by my brothers as a blessing from God. Praise the Lord. So when we pray and are willing to be part of the answer to our own prayer, He will also provide for everything that is needed. Remember when you pray, also be willing to be part of the answer to your own prayer. Thank you for this opportunity to share this wonderful principle. Amen By Hwa Silverpen
