I have written over 550 blogs on this site. I have one that received over 100 comments. I have many people on a friends list. But, the truth of the matter is that except for a few very special people, I feel more and more isolated every day. I dont say this as an introduction for some kind of pity party but rather to make a point. We all have our reasons for being involved with this site. Some like the fellowship and a few like the teachings and life lessons presented in the blogs. There are some who like to hear themselves talk and some afraid of what they might say if they did. There are some who are dreadfully alone in this life and some with more friends and family surrounding them than the President. Within this community of believers there are representatives of just about every denomination and faith system within Christianity. There are fundamentalists, liberals, legalists, Catholics, Protestants, and innumerable other designations. Part of the amazing thing about this place is the ability for Christians from so many different backgrounds to get along, enjoy each others company, pray for each other and manifest compassion and love to each other. Just as within the Body of Christ, so within this community there are differences of function and ministry manifested. Some here are "keepers of the door" charged with keeping an eye on the place. Others are prayer warriors who jump on prayer requests like fleas on a dog. Still others are "truth detectors" who make sure blogs, comments and discussions dont veer off on tangents or worse. There are others here who are burden bearers who manage to provide comfort and encouragement to those going through rough stretches in their lives. There are even comedians here who help keep the mood light when things get oppressive or the woes of the world start piling up. There are elders here who have 60 or more years of wisdom to impart to those who are still "babes in the woods". There are youth here full of vim and vigor and overflowing with energy and excitement to help the elders not feel too old. There are also people here with gift ministries, ordained by God to help His people by way of being an evangelist, prophet, teacher or pastor. Those who frequent this site with actual ministries rarely stay long for I believe God leads them here to deliver a message and then leads them to the next place that needs it. This is sort of like the itinerate ministries 1800s. There were folks (my great grandfather for one) who did nothing but ride their horse from town to town to preach. They were circuit riders for sure. Having said all this, there are a few of us here that God has called to stay put and not keep moving on from place to place. Long ago I felt God wanted me to stay put and set down roots at Christian Blog for the long haul. As time as passed, I have given more and more to this site in every category. This site has, as for many others, become my church home and sole source of fellowship. It is also pretty much the place God has chosen for me to exercise the ministries in my life. Regardless of your belief system, I would hope and pray that the vast majority of us believe that God has indeed ordained some to be pastors, teachers and such within the Body of Christ. This is all laid out in Romans 12, I Corinthians 12 and Ephesians 4. Please let me share a secret with you that few know about, unless they have been "ordained" at some point in their ministry life. It is very hard, if not impossible for those who have had hands laid on them and ordained to be minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to turn around and become a "regular guy/gal". Once ordained, there are some pretty strict guidelines of behavior and conduct laid out in the Pastoral Epistles (I and II Timothy and Titus) regarding how a minister is to carry him/herself etc. There is a reason why many ministers seem to be "aloof" and "different" than the congregation. Looking back on Aaron and the priests of the Old Testament, I think that is the way God intended it. For the most part, as many of you know, I write very challenging blogs that force the reader to think about their own walk and what is going on around them. I am charged with sharing my heart and life, with nothing held back. I know this transparency is uncomfortable for both you and me at times, but it is what God wants of me. Most of all, I must write what God places on my heart to write, and not look back. When I do, God blesses me. I do not write for comments or even views, but being a human I notice when one or the other is missing. I do not write for praise or sympathy, although at times my heart cries out for both since I am a man. I do not write for any other reason than to lay out what I believe God places on my heart because He knows someone out there needs to read it. Because of these things, there are many times I feel dreadfully alone just as many others who do the same thing. For those who still read what I write I thank you from the bottom of my heart. For those who no longer do, well you wouldnt be reading this so I have no comment. All I know is that as much as I want at times to be released from the burden of writing daily, God continues to have other plans and to be at peace with Him, I must do as He tells me. At least now you know why I write so much and the way I do. Thank you for being there to read it.
