An explanation of events which will occur during the final seven years (known as the years of great tribulation) leading up to the return of Christ and the establishment of His Kingdom on Earth has as many variations as there are groups who enter into and teach this prophecy.
For anyone who desires understanding the key is simple. Simplicity, keep it simple and keep it literal unless told otherwise in the text.
All my life Ive been taught there are 21 judgments which will come upon disobedient men during this time. Careful study of Scripture shows this to be wrong. Judgments come during the sounding of a trumpet and/or the pouring out of a vial (bowl).
Long range planning of a war produces a master plan which specifies a desired result and smaller goals which must be achieved to accomplish the desired result. Each individual goal is accomplished through strategic planning. Strategic planning is the planning of smaller individual actions which, upon completion of all smaller goals, will result in successful accomplishment of the master plan.
God has a master plan for the seven years which immediately precede the return of Christ to earth. This master plan is complete and written on a scroll. This scroll is in the right hand of God. It is sealed with seven seals. Opening of the seals give us revelation of Gods master plan.
Opening of the seven seals is not judgment on earth, or judgment of disobedient men. Opening of the seals is revelation of Gods master plan for the seven years to come. Judgment does not begin until the sounding of the first trumpet.
Silence in heaven. All the heavenly hosts including angels and redeemed men become completely silent. They are in awe of what is about to begin on Earth with the sounding of the first trumpet.
Many believe all trumpet judgments are completed before the bowl judgments begin. This is not accurate. Proof of this can be found in Rev 10:7:
Read carefully. In the days of the sounding of the seventh angel (sounding of the seventh trumpet), when he is about to sound, the mystery of God would be finished. All bowl judgments happen during the sounding of the seventh trumpet. When the sounding of the seventh trumpet is completed the years of tribulation are over. The King has come to put an end to all hostilities and establish His Kingdom on earth.

This Scripture shows us what is happening in heaven during the sounding of the seventh trumpet. It will soon be finished on Earth. The King is about to come to rule and reign.

While the trumpet judgments and the vial (bowl) judgments do not occur parallel with each other the vial (bowl) judgments do occur during the sounding of the seventh trumpet.
