The whole Account of Creation found in Genesis 1 has been under offensive attack by both believers and unbelievers due to the deception and lies of Satan that are being accepted and circulated by mankind. Genesis 2:4 is one of the verses that seems to contribute to the overall confusion and to questioning whether or not Gods Account of Creation in Genesis 1:1 through 2:3 is literally true. Genesis 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, The question simply asked is: How can the days of creation be interpreted literally as six ordinary, regular days when Genesis 2:4 refers to generations and not days? The simple answer is: Genesis 2:4 beginning with "these are the generations" is the introduction to the subject and text that follows the verse. In the beginning chapters of Genesis, God consistently uses this statement as an introduction to the subject and text that follows the statement. I am listing these verses of introduction from Genesis Chapters 2-11 so that you can see more clearly the consistency of Gods usage. (KJV, ASV, ESV) Genesis 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, Genesis 5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; Genesis 6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. Genesis 10:1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood. Genesis 11:10 These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood: Genesis 11:27 Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot. This blog serves as an introduction to a series covering each of these verses of introduction. I will summarize the subject and content of each section that follows the statement "these are the generations" and "this is the book of the generations." One of the results of this undertaking, hopefully, will be for all to see more clearly how orderly and purposely God introduces and discusses each subject area beginning with His Creation to the Worldwide Flood to the Tower of Babel to the the history of Abraham and Gods chosen people. God uses genealogies as a method of moving through this early literal history. If you have followed my writings, you know many have been written on Genesis 1, the Creation Account. In a number of blogs and in comments made to blogs of others, I have pointed out how God provides proof through Old Testament Scripture that He (God the Father, God The Word-Jesus Christ and God the Holy Spirit) literally created the earth and the heavens in six ordinary, regular days. One of the blogs you are encouraged to read is this supplement: Creation Series: Supplement-Creation Six Ordinary Days The series will begin with a discussion starting in Genesis 2:4 and going through the end of Genesis chapter 4. revgenlink
