"..faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness..so that he might be the father of all those believing through uncircumcision, for righteousness to be imputed to them also;..to those walking by the steps of the faith. For the promise that he should be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith...it is of faith so that it might be according to grace; for the promise to be made sure to all the seed, not only to that which is of the Law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all" (Romans 4:9-16 MKJV) In part 4(Click here to read part 4) we established that it was impossible for God to lie, His integrity is beyond question. The mystery revealed - (15) christ in you as you
published . 7 min read
This is why I, Paul, am in jail for Christ, having taken up the cause of you outsiders, so-called. I take it that you're familiar with the part I was given in God's plan for including everybody. I got the inside story on this from God himself, as I just wrote you in brief. As you read over what I have written to you, you'll be able to see for yourselves into the mystery of Christ. None of our ancestors understood this. Only in our time has it been made clear by God's Spirit through his holy apostles and prophets of this new order. The mystery is that people who have never heard of God and those who have heard of him all their lives (what I've been calling outsiders and insiders) stand on the same ground before God. They get the same offer, same help, same promises in......

"..Jesus has been given priestly work which is superior to theirs,..the covenant which he arranged between God and his people is a better one, because it is based on promises of better things. If there had been nothing wrong with the first covenant, there would have been no need for a second one..By speaking of a new covenant, God has made the first one old; and anything that becomes old and worn out will soon disappear." (Hebrews 8:6-13 GNB) paradigm, paradigm shift - From the Greek word paradhma (paradigma),... a paradigm is simply the predominant worldview in the realm of human thought..A paradigm shift occurs when cultures transform their way of thinking from one thought system to another. For instance, prior to Copernicus and Galileo (ca. 1600), most people believed that......
- a covenant paradigm shift - (11) the new old covenant
published . 11 min read
In this series, we have explored the old and new covenant and the need to start living in the new and not go back to the old(Click here to read part 10). In practical terms, there is a large number of Christians who have woken up to the fact that we are no longer to follow the old covenant literally, and would consider they live under the new covenant. The reality is that they still live under the paradigm of the old, merely replacing the old covenant with a new variant of it. Here we explore this phenomenon. . Majority of Christians see salvation as God forgiving their sins up to the point of conversion and then giving them the Holy spirit to help them lead a better life. This mindset leads to an unending campaign of self-improvement, which is fraught with a succession of highs and lows.......

In part 9 (click here to read it), we looked at the fact that trying to live under the old covenant was a backward step. Unfortunately, there is a tendency to want to do so. . There is a tendency for Gentiles to vie towards the law that the Jews could not fulfill. When it was never meant for them and fell short of the superior results achieved through the spirit. 1. "I marvel that you so soon are being moved away from Him who called you into the grace of Christ, to another gospel, which is not another, but some are troubling you, and desiring to pervert the gospel of Christ." (Galatians 1:6-7 MKJV) 2. "O foolish Galatians, who bewitched you not to obey the truth, to whom before your eyes Jesus Christ was written among you crucified? Here we look at this further and explore the consequences of a gentile trying to live under the outdated old covenant. . The new covenant is the ultimate, all-inclusive upgrade to the old covenant. 1. "But now, Jesus has been given priestly work which is superior to theirs, just as the covenant which he arranged between God and his people is a better one, because it is based on promises of better things. If there had been nothing wrong with the first covenant, there would have been no need for a second one." (Hebrews 8:6-7 GNB) 2. "The Law was carved in letters on stone tablets,......

So far we have looked at the differences between the new and old testament and established that the new has superseded the old and we should live in the power of the new by God's spirit(click here to read part 7). . Strictly speaking, what we have covered so far, should only have relevance in the context of a Jewish believer, as the old testament was never given to the gentiles (all non-Jews). 1. "You Gentiles by birthcalled "the uncircumcised" by the Jews, who call themselves the circumcised (which refers to what men do to their bodies)remember what you were in the past. At that time you were apart from Christ. You were foreigners and did not belong to God's chosen people. You had no part in the covenants, which were based on God's promises to his people, and......

But he gave orders not to disturb the stump and roots. This is to show that you will be king once again, after you learn that the God who rules from heaven is in control. Your Majesty, please be willing to do what I say. Turn from your sins and start living right; have mercy on those who are mistreated. Then all will go well with you for a long time. We have been made one with Christ and therefore cannot be separated from His past or present. We can therefore make the following assertions: (I). What He went through we did (retrospectively) 1. Our first instinct is to react negatively and begin self-examination to find out what we have done wrong to occasion such adversity or trials. The scriptures make it clear that adversity is a fact of life. 1. "I, James, am a slave of God and the Master Jesus, writing to the twelve tribes scattered to Kingdom Come: Hello! Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don't try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way." (James 1:1-4 MSG)......

In part 13 (click here to read it), we saw that Jesus was the complete package and we have been made complete through union with Him. Here we will look at the legal implications of that union. We are His body, of which He is the head. You cannot legally separate the head from it's body. 1. "Christ is the visible likeness of the invisible God. He is the first-born Son, superior to all created things. For through him God created everything in heaven and on earth, the seen and the unseen things, including spiritual powers, lords, rulers, and authorities. God created the whole universe through him and for him. Christ existed before all things, and in union with him all things have their proper place. He is the head of his body, the church; he is the source of the body's life. He......

In parts 6 (click here to read it), we established that our love is a response to His amazing love and when it is perfected in us, it casts out fear. Here we look at how all that we have considered so far about His love, fits together into the manifestation of a stress-free love walk. To unlock the puzzle of love, let us re-arrange the text in the 1 John 4 love puzzle within the new covenant context. (I). God is love; He can do nothing but love. "God is love, and anyone who doesn't love others has never known him." (1 John 4:8) (II). God loves us with His kind of love not ours. "God showed his love for us when he sent his only Son into the world to give us life. Real love isn't our love for God, but his love for us. God sent his Son to be the sacrifice by which our......

In part 5 (click here to read it), we discovered that we already had God's love deposited in us through spiritual rebirth, but we needed to renew our minds with this knowledge to manifest it. Here we look at our response to the revelation of God's love for us. (V). "And we ourselves know and believe the love which God has for us. God is love, and those who live in love live in union with God and God lives in union with them." (1 John 4:16 GNB) We cannot operate in what we do not know that we have. We need a revelation of God's love for us. We need to know the intensity and full extent of God's love for us. We must understand its nature and eternal endurance. We must explore its lavish length, width, height and depth. The kind of knowledge referred to here is not......

Here we look at how to walk in the certainty of His love that is in us. (IV). "My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God." (1 John 4:7 MSG) This ties nicely into what we looked at in part 3. God is love, His love is unique to Him. He is the only source of this "God kind" of love and therefore anyone who has this kind of love must have got it from Him. If love is the essence of God's DNA, then anyone born of Him will have the same love nature , subsequently relationship......

The key lies in the way things work in the new covenant 1. "Now Christ has been appointed to serve as a priest in a much better way, and he has given us much assurance of a better agreement. If the first agreement with God had been all right, there would not have been any need for another one. But the Lord found fault with it and said, "I tell you the time will come, when I will make a new agreement with the people of Israel and the people of Judah. "God is love, and anyone who doesn't love others has never known him." (1 John 4:8 CEV) This is a crucial starting point for understanding God. It does not suggest that God considers love very important, it states that Love is the essence of who God is. It is what motivates Him in all interactions with us. He created us as the object of His love. (II). "Real love isn't our love for God, but his love for us. God sent his Son to be the sacrifice by which our sins are forgiven." Growing up as a Christian, I always knew I was commanded by the Lord to walk in love towards others. In fact the scripture says everything hangs on this. 1. "One of the religion scholars came up. Hearing the lively exchanges of question and answer and seeing how sharp Jesus was in his answers, he put in his question: "Which is most important of all the commandments?" Jesus said, "The first in importance is, 'Listen, Israel: The Lord your God is one; so love the Lord God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy.' And here is the second: 'Love others as well as you love yourself.' There is no other commandment that ranks with these." The religion scholar said, "A wonderful answer, Teacher! "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. But the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh; so that the righteousness of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according......

"Only the high priest entered the smaller, inside tent, and then only once a year, offering a blood sacrifice for his own sins and the people's accumulated sins. This was the Holy Spirit's way of showing with a visible parable that as long as the large tent stands, people can't just walk in on God. "Moses wrote God's Law in a book, taking care not to leave out anything. When he finished, he said to the levitical priests, who were in charge of the LORD's Covenant Box, "Take this book of God's Law and place it beside the Covenant Box of the LORD your God, so that it will remain there as a witness against his people. It is exactly what Christ and later Paul, dealth with during their time on earth. This state of affairs suites the devil to the ground, as it offers him the opportunity to steal from us the benefits of the new by filtering them out through the old. 1. For instance, prior to Copernicus and Galileo (ca. 1600), most people believed that astral bodies revolved around the earth (geocentrism); but after the Copernican Revolution (ca. 1600), it became obvious that the earth revolved around the sun (heliocentrism) -- thus, a major paradigm shift occurred from geocentrism to heliocentrism..Simply put, then, a paradigm shift is a pivotal change in humanity's way of thinking regarding a particular worldview. I'm reminded of an incidence in my early childhood. I had my school bag on my shoulders, yet I went looking all over for it. I guess, it must have been rather light for me not to feel it. I was put out of my toil, when someone inquired if the bag I sought was like the one I was carrying. I dare say, I felt a bit foolish. Looking back at the incident, a few observations came to mind. 1. I already had what I was looking for right under my nose 2. Because I had it, I could not find it else where 3. I could not find it because I was looking for it in the wrong places 4. Because I had excluded my person from the list of possible locations, it never occurred to me to look there 5. The wages of Adam's sin was death, which was passed on to all His seed, unless another could pay it. By His blood, Christ paid the debt of sin, on behalf of all mankind. 1. "For He has delivered us from the power of darkness and has translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son; in whom we have redemption through His blood, the remission of sins. ..And through Him having made peace through the blood of His cross, it pleased the Father to reconcile all things to Himself......

So far in this series, we have discovered God's eternal purpose to have us as children of His love. We have also looked at how, through deception, the devil appeared to have derailed God's plan, when Adam and Eve suffered spiritual death. They entered into union with the devil's sin nature thereby becoming His bond slaves. The human race was in need of salvation from ultimate death. As mentioned in part 3(click here to read part 3, if you missed it), God was not without the proverbial "Ace" up his sleeves. Just as soon as Adam and Eve sinned, He made the following announcement; 1. "I'm declaring war between you and the Woman, between your offspring and hers. He'll wound your head, you'll wound his heel." (Genesis 3:15 MSG) The offspring to which......

In part 2 we witnessed the introduction of Adam and Eve to the experience of death, having been deceived by the devil to pursue their own agenda, just like he had his. Having died a spiritual death and become corrupted by the devil's sin nature(dead in sin). Click here to read part 2, if you missed it. God had to keep Adam and Eve away from the tree that would give them eternal life, to prevent them from living eternally, in a fallen corrupted state, while He implemented His solution to the sin and death problem once and for all. 1. "GOD said, "The Man has become like one of us, capable of knowing everything, ranging from good to evil. What if he now should reach out and take fruit from the Tree-of-Life and eat, and live forever? Never--this cannot happen!" So GOD......

In part 1 of this series, we discovered that it was God's eternal purpose to have us as His children and the focus of His love. To this end, He created Adam and Eve to rule the earth and subdue it. He told Adam not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or he would die. Satan came armed with his own agenda of world domination to contradict God and deceive them into rebellion(If you missed part 1, click here to read it). 1. "What a comedown this, O Babylon! Daystar! Son of Dawn! Flat on your face in the underworld mud, you, famous for flattening nations! You said to yourself, "I'll climb to heaven. I'll set my throne over the stars of God. I'll run the assembly of angels that meets on sacred Mount Zaphon. I'll climb to the top of the clouds.......

In Christian circles we speak a special language called "Christianese", where words like Salvation has it's meaning within that context and everyone assumes that every other Christian knows what it means. It was therefore a great shock to me over a year ago, when I came across messages by Paul Anderson Walsh, where His definition of Salvation was different from what I had believed for nearly 20 years(click here for the free the audio messages I listened to) . The clarity and liberty I received from this revelation has become the bedrock of my rejuvenated Christian experience. I would like to share what I learned with you in a series titled "Salvation Unraveled". Before we can truly understand salvation we need to go back to the very beginning. By this I mean, even......

The gospel according to rahab - part 2 - woman transformed
published . 5 min read
In Part 1 of this blog we looked at Rahab's faith in the ability of the God of the Jews to overthrow Jericho and her response of submission. If you missed it click here to read it. Here we will look at the invasion and the resulting transformation of Rahab's destiny from prostitute to a part in the lineage of Jesus. "Then the priests blew the trumpets, and Joshua yelled: Get ready to shout! The LORD will let you capture this town. But you must destroy it and everything in it, to show that it now belongs to the LORD. The woman Rahab helped the spies we sent, so protect her and the others who are inside her house. But kill everyone else in the town." (Joshua 6:16-17 CEV) The long awaited invasion was here. The impending destruction of Jericho was at hand and Joshua has......

Mention "Rahab" and many would remember her as the prostitute who helped the Jewish delegates that came to spy out Jericho. It is so easy to be transfixed on her illicit profession that we miss the fact that She did become king David's great, great grandmother by marriage to Salmon and therefore in the lineage of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. "..Nahshon had Salmon, Salmon had Boaz (his mother was Rahab), Boaz had Obed (Ruth was the mother), Obed had Jesse, Jesse had David, and David became king.." (Matthew 1:4-6 MSG) There is more to this woman than meets the eye. I suppose we see too much of the acts of "sinners" that we fail to realize that they are all prodigal children, whose return; the Father of all creation, lovingly awaits. The story in Luke......
Self righteousness ("elder brother syndrome")

(This is a long one(lots of bible text), so get yourself something to drink and relax) In a previous blog titled "Repentance" (please click here to read it, if you missed it). We looked at the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15 and established that true repentance is coming back to your real self, which can only be found in God. When we submit all that we are, to Him, we come home and enjoy all that He has prepared for us. In this blog the focus is going to be on the elder brother, whose behavior typifies that of a self-assessed, self-professed, righteous person. Who believes that they deserve all they get from God by merit of their conduct or abilities and do not understand why others can't shape up and be as good as they are. They also believe that God's love is......
Journey into rest - (2) lock, stock and barrel

Hi there As I stated in my first blog (click here if you missed it). I will be sharing my journey to the end of myself and into God's amazing rest. As the scripture says ".. there remains a rest to the people of God. For he who has entered into his rest, he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from His." (Hebrews 4:9-10 MKJV). God had gotten my attention when He pointed out that pride was a root cause of my problem. This I found hard to accept, as I did not consider myself a proud person. I however conceded and asked God to show me in what ways, I was proud. Rather than give me a direct answer, He began to show me certain truths from the bible that revealed an underlying philosophy by which I ran my life. It centered around the concept that I was in charge of my......

(This is a long one(mostly bible text), so get yourself something to drink and relax) Hi There In this blog, I would like to share a revelation I had on repentance. He showed it to me from the story of the Prodigal Son. "And he said, A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his......
The journey into rest - (1) introduction

Hi all It's Breadoflife here, I became a Christian in 1985 and have lived through many highs and lows during that time. I have learnt and grown a lot since that time. I have been involved in different facets of Church life from music, youth work, bible studies etc. Even though I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that being a Christian was the greatest thing I had going for me, I still struggled with sin. I would have seasons of life where I would have the upper hand and then all it took was a sequence of unfortunate events/errors in judgement and I would be back in the dumps again. This went on for almost 19 years. Then in 2004 as I was going through a down time, I stumbled upon a website that suggested that pride was the root to my problem. This took me by surprise as I always......
