Updates to blog reply notifications
published . 1 min read
Back on the 26 of December 2017, we rebuilt the blog reply code to fix all of the known errors (a lot) that replying to a blog comment had. A few minutes ago we just updated the way that notifications work for when somebody replies to a blog comment. Previously, and rather annoying (for the last few years) everybody that had posted any comment and/or any reply to a blog would get an email and website notifications, even if it was a reply on a comment that you had not participated in. Effective today, we have fixed that rather annoying notification method and now the only time a notification will be issued for a blog reply is: The blog author will get a notification The person that posted the comment will get a notification Other people that comment on that specific comment will get a......
Introducing 'pinned' comments
published . 1 min read
Introducing 'Pinned' Comments Today, November 12, 2017, the ChristianBlog.Com website is happy to announce that we have added the ability to "Pin" a comment. This new feature, available to all members with an upgraded account, allows a blog author the ability to force a specific comment on their blog to be displayed at the very top of all of the comments. To 'pin' the comment simply use the drop-down options on the right side of the comment (where the remove/report options are at) and select the "pin comment" option. Once you have pinned a comment it will forever be displayed at the top of the comments. Once pinned, a comment cannot be "un"pinned, so use this feature with forward sight wisdom. Blog authors are able to pin multiple comments on......

Read below for further details on these two changes! Details On These Updates: By combining together our previous two non-free tiered membership......

Website Updates, July 26, 2017: The follow updates have been made to the ChristianBlog.Com website over the last week. The 'Save' feature has returned (for the two people who regularly use it) Resolved an issue that caused curly quotes to cause text to not appear between them. Please, turn off curly quotes in Microsoft Word! Added validation to the blog view counter to help prevent bots/crawlers/searcengines/etc from causing the blog view to increase. This is going to resolve in a decrease in blog view counts, but it will result in significantly more accurate blog view counts. 'Most Popular Viewing Times' is now available on dashboard. This was hinted at a few months ago and is now available. This information can seriously help you know when the perfect hours are to......

Cb turns 11
published . 1 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers! This weekend the ChristianBlog.Com ministry turns 11 years old! One or two of you have been around almost the entire time, while others have blessed us by joining some other time along the way. Thank you to all who have stayed around to be blessed and to bless others! We wanted to highlight a few news events that have happened over the last year. The loss of far too many departing our presence and going to be with the Lord. This is always the sad yet joyous part of becoming friends with others. An entirely new Community section to replace the previous wall and prayer sections of the website. Our own custom designed chatroom to replace the aging and insecure previous chatroom (plus private chat for our PRO/PLUS bloggers!) Earlier today we have turned on a......
Home page display criteria
published . 1 min read
It has been many years since ChristianBlog.Com has had strict home page display criteria. With changes coming to the website in 2017 we are finding the need to put some additional criteria into the display of blogs on our home pages. Effective October 22, 2016 the following requirements will be implemented in order to have your blogs displayed on both home pages. Blogger cannot have a free account. (meaning: you must be a PLUS or PRO account blogger) Blogger must have at least five (5) friends, not including the default @christianblog or @abelajohnb accounts (meaning: making friends is important, as it results in higher blog views) Blogger must have a 1:1 ratio of blogs and blog comments. (meaning: if you have 200 blogs you must have at least 200 comments that you have posted) Blogger......
September 2016 website updates
published . 4 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers. Below is a detailed list of some of the updates to the ChristianBlog.Com website over the course of 2016. Some of these changes will be minor, others are going to be a bit, well, not minor updates. Template Update: The most obviously change has been the introduction of a new design for the website. While the overall design and colour pattern has stayed the same, we have made changes to the top bar / navigation, refinements to the main body of the website, updated the footer/bottom of the website, and are working on making forms look better. As of the time of this announcement, we are only about 20% finished with the migration to the new design. It is our number one priority over the weeks ahead. Private Chat: This is a huge one! For the first time in the......

Cb groups - back online!
published . 3 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, It was only about 16 days ago that our website suffered a major outage for a short period of time, and consequentially left the website moving very slow for a number of days. In the end the only solution was first to take the website offline completely for a few hours, and than throw a lot of money at upgrading the quality of the server/computer that ChristianBlog.Com runs on. During that process the decision was made to upgrade some of the software that the ChristianBlog.Com depends upon. That, unfortunately, did not go over very well, and once again we found the CB website offline for about a day. Eventually a resolution was found and the next few days were spent trying to get everything else resolved. Before all of that happened we notified those who were......

A new year, a prayer needs updated!
published . 1 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers! Today is the second day of the 2016 year and we are already hard at work! We are happy to announce that we have updated our Prayer Needs section of the CB website! Here are the current changes: Notifications: Instead of sending out email notifications to those who have subscribed to receive new prayer needs, we are now sending out website alerts, and email notifications, to all of your friends! This is a huge change that we feel will really help let those closest to you know that you have a prayer need. Prayer Needs now have their own dedicated page. See, for example, this prayer need, which is totally separated from all the other prayer needs. We have shrunk the avatars a tiny bit, and relocate the print and report buttons. We have made the prayer needs......

Over 30,000 (thirty thousand) accounts have been created by Christians from around the world, from almost every nation on the planet. And there have been over 70 million page views, an average of 20,000 page views per day. The motto of the website is the same today as it has always been, "A place to be blessed and to bless others!" Cb lang - want to help translate the cb website into other languages?
published . 1 min read
Hello Christian Bloggers, One of the long term projects that we want to introduce to the CB website in 2016 is internationalize of linguistics, so that Christians from around the world can natively read the CB website. This will involve a large amount of work within the software, as well as a large amount of volunteer work by individuals willing to help convert the English word list to their own native language. The goal is to start with three different languages: en-us (american english) en-gb (british english) fr-ca (canadian french) These three languages make up approximately 92% of our global audience in 2015, so we are going to start with those languages that are most prevalent. It is our hope by the end of 2016 to have that number go from three to ten or twelve. If you know any of......

Greetings Christian Bloggers, We have been slowly able to get a small amount of work completed on the website, below are those changes: We are introducing a new "Intro Membership" tier to our existing membership options. This new level of membership will be priced at $3.00 USD per month and will include two features that the free membership level does not offer: (a) the ability to edit recently published blogs - a feature currently not available due to the 24-hour restrictions. (b) the ability to edit recently published blog comments. These two options should allow those with free memberships the ability to fix typos and other mistakes within their recently published blogs and comments, and priced at just three bucks a month, it offers a great option for those not sure about......
Migration to a new server
published . 8 min read
Greetings Bloggers, Earlier today, April 28, 2015, we made the migration from the server we have been using for over two years to a new server. This change was made for economical reasons. At the present moment the website is not fully operational, probably around 80% at the moment, and it should be close to 98% by the end of week. An important change that took place is an increase in account security. We have greatly increased the amount of protection and security of personal account information that is stored. Unfortunately this did result in requiring all bloggers having to reset/create a new password. But that is probably a good thing as folks use the same password for far too long. It is always a good idea to set a new password every few months. We will keep this blog updated with......
Free membership returns!
published . 2 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, On October 01, 2012 ChristianBlog.Com switched away from being a free website to being an all-paid-website. Now, a little over 900 days later, we are announcing that we are doing away with our 30-day trial membership. The last 2 years and 6 months has seen some incredible things happening at our website, some good, some bad, and some that are just miracles from above. By making a change away from having a trial membership it will allow Christians from around the world to have a Christian website from which to blog, even if they are unable to afford doing so. As was mentioned in our last announcement, "Spending Money To Save Money", changes have had to be made in order to keep the CB ministry going. This is something many of you have heard many times......
Spending money to save money
published . 2 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, Towards the end of 2014 we posted a "5k Pledge Drive" where we were trying to raise $5,000 in order to help us off-set some bills. We were not able to reach that goal, though we got close to the 2k mark. Most of you know that I (John Abela) have been paying thousands of dollars out of pocket each month to keep the website operational. The website brings in 2-3% of what it costs to keep the website going on a month-to-month basis, so it obviously costs me a LOT of money to keep the website going. The consequences of not being able to raise those funds from the $5K drive are now starting to have an affect. I am now at a point where I will no longer be able to continue many of the features that we offer here at CB. Over the weeks ahead a number of......

Community feedback: blog requirements before prayer needs posting
published . 1 min read
Hello CB'ers. We would like to implement the "one blog required before posting a prayer need" rule like we use to have. It seems CB is starting to turn into a prayer request website, with people posting prayers but never posting blogs. While posting prayer is good and all, the mission of CB is that we are acommunity built around blogging. We use to have this requirement and removedit due to family members of long-time CB'ers joining and needing to let us know somebody was in the hospital. We very much understand this issue, however, that situation seems to be very few and far in between - as in, maybe two or three times in all the years we've had prayers at CB. Whereas the amount of people posting prayers and never blogging is significantly higher in numbers and......
January 2015 website updates

Greetings Christian Bloggers, We have a few announcements and changes to the ChristianBlog.Com website to announce for the month of January 2015. First up is we have made a slight cosmetic change to the "More" drop-down navigation. Due to recent additions to the website we have needed to increase the amount of navigation/icons, this resulted in us changing it from being 7 across to5 across. This affects only the Desktop version of the CB website. The second cosmetic change we made is to the home page and the profile 'friends' section - we changed these sections to match the rest of our members listing cosmetic style. The last cosmetic change we have made is anenhancement to the 'About me' section on blogs of non-trial members. It highlights information about the......

Greetings Christian Bloggers, As the end of 2014 draws neigh it is yet again time to take a look at out the last year went - for those who like looking back on things. For those who are into statistic and such, here are your numbers for the year, rounded off a bit as we are not yet at years end. Since ChristianBlog.Com started, 9 years ago, our 29,000+ bloggers have created 44,000+ blogs - all of which have been viewed 31,00,00+ (31+ million) times by people in over 180 nations. Since we went online we have had 125,000,000 (125+ million) total pageviews, and all of the published blogs have been viewed over 473,000 times, for an average of 1,382 blog views per day. This year just under 1,000 new bloggersjoined the website(about 965) which is an average of 3 new members per day. Our members......
2014 membership level changings
published . 2 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, On October 01, 2012, just a few weeks over two years ago, the ChristianBlog.Com ministry became an all-paid-website, in an effort to keep the ministry going due to financial hardship on the owner of the website. We initially introduced three levels of membership tiers. Earlier this year we reduced that from three paid tiers down to two tiers to simplify our membership levels for our bloggers. All of the basic features and increased access for our membership levels have, for the most part, remain the same over the last two years. We have learned a lot the last two years and have decided to make changes to our membership levels. To begin with we are doing away with the terms "tier 1, tier 2" and switching over to "membership" and......

Greetings Christian Bloggers, ChristianBlog.Com is happy to announce the introduction of another great feature for our members, something we are calling "My Reading" - an amazingly simple way to not only keep track of the books you are reading and have already read, but also a fun way to share with others these very same books! "My Reading" is as simple as typing in the name of the book you are reading, pressing a button that searches for the book information, and clicking another button. Once you have done that it will show up on the "My Reading" section of your profile. Check out the "My Reading" section of John Abela to see what he is reading and what books he really likes! When you add a book you have the option of indicating if you read the......
Updates to the website, july 2014
published . 3 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, Listed below are some of the changes to made to the ChristianBlog.Com website over the month of July 2014 that have not already been formally announced. On July 01, 2014 we announced that "Groups" had made a return to the website. The few groups made so far have seen some activity. Sadly they have not been as active as we had hoped and only a single blogger has created any groups. As a result of the new Groups feature being introduced to the CB website it quickly resulted in our "alert system" being overloaded and for many bloggers the alerts simply stopped working. Over the course of the last three weeks our entire focus has been on rebuilding a new system for notifications. Massive man-hours have been invested and it took four different......
The return of "groups" plus other announcements
published . 5 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, Today, July 01, 2014, ChristianBlog.Com is very happy to announce the return of "Groups" back to the ChristianBlog.Com website! Our long time bloggers will remember that back in (we think) 2008 we introduced a feature called 'groups' that allowed our members to create a sort of private discussion area that could be setup for whatever interested them. The groups feature did not become all that popular with the exception of a half-dozen groups. In January of 2011 the decision was made to discontinue the groups from the services provided by ChristianBlog.Com due to a lack of use and the knowledge that creating and management of the groups proved to be very difficult for those that wanted to create them. It was a prime case of us developing a......

This new feature will display all of your contacts along with the last time they signed into the website and the last time they published a blog and a checkbox on the far right side. Simply check the checkbox on the right side of those contacts you would like to remove from your Contacts/Friends list and press the button at the bottom of the website, and the checked contacts will be removed from your Contacts/Friends list - and of course, vise-versa. Recently Amazon.Com has started offering the ability for websites such as ChristianBlog.Com to handle monthly subscriptions and thought this would be a great alternative payment method for our bloggers. The process for using Amazon.Com for your monthly subscription is very simple. You just select which tier of membership you would like to be at, press the subscription button which......
A quick fundraising to help cb out
published . 1 min read
‹Hello All, ChristianBlog.Com is in need of a quick fundraising so that we can close out some financial issues that need to be resolved. We are in need of $500 USD to allow us to bring closure to a financial issue regarding the website. This is not a request for those who giving to CB would hurt them financially -- rather this is a request to the folks here at CB that couldsend us $500 and not have it hurt you financially. We need a minimum of $500, but if there are multiple people that can come forward and each give $500 dollars that would be very much appreciated and help us close out additional financial issues still lingering from the end of 2013. Sadly 2013 was another year in the red, but it was a better year than the previous two or three years, likely do to going to being an......

2013, looking back on the year!
published . 2 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, I thought this would be a great time to take a brief look back on the 2013 year from the office of ChristianBlog.Com! If 2013 could be summed up in just a single word, it would probably have to be "friendships". There has been a deepening of friendships here at CB over the last year that I am not sure we have ever seen before. There have been almost three thousand new friendships made (six thousand if you count both people) but beyond just that number, we have seen a level of commitment within friendship that has just been amazing. While some friends have left us by leaving the website, and sadly a few friends by their departure from this world, without a doubt the most predominate aspect of this year has been just how strong friendships can be -......

Greetings Christian Bloggers, Just a quick announcement that we have added weather and local time to your profile page. This is a really nice little feature that after initial testing we received a lot of nice comments about, so we have added it to all of our members profile pages. You can make changes to this, and even turn it off, within your TimeZone settings. All you need to do is make sure that the 'City/State/Country' fields are completed and that you have it enabled - it is enabled by default. You can also select your Weather Unit which will display either Metric (celcius) or Imperial (fahrenheit) first within the weather information that is display. We actually show both to help all of those who are either in the land of the Metric system or those in the crazy small world......

You can have your middle name be a single character and even include a period. You can now update your real name to include your middle name within the real name section of your account. Should you encounter any issues with this new middle name feature please contact us....
Content policy update- new clause on "christian celebrations"
published . 1 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, For the past few years, during the months of November through the end of January, a growing trend towards attacking Christian celebrations has been taking place here at ChristianBlog.Com and this is simply unacceptable. As a result we have, effective December 12, 2013, put into place a new clause within the ChristianBlog.Com Content Policy, entitled "Christian Celebrations", and it reads as thus: Christian Celebrations is a hostility toward the celebration of Christian events - be it Christmas for Western Christians, Hanukkah for Messianic/Semitic, Epiphany for Eastern Christians, Orthodox, Roman Catholics, or any other celebration that Christians around the world partake of. Celebrations are meant to be a time of celebration, not a time when people......

Please check back in a few days to see what new and special things we have in store for our community! 12 days later the ability to register was opened up for a limited amount of people, and from there is has been an amazing adventure! To Celebrate: In celebration of the 8th birthday we are releasing a feature that has been under testing by a very limited amount of bloggers for over six months, called "Manage Blog Title", which allows you to add a secondary blog title and link for your blogs! This is a feature you are going to want to use on......

End of 2013 changes to the christianblog services
published . 5 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, This announcement is to notify of our members of changes that will be happening within the ChristianBlog.Com Services between now and January 01, 2014. Thirteen months ago ChristianBlog.Com switched to become an All-Paid-Website in an effort to bring to a halt our continued negative monthly costs. This change resulted in a sizable percentage of our bloggers choosing to leave the website rather than support the ChristianBlog.Com ministry and continue blogging at our website. We knew, and openly shared, that both viewership and total blogs published each month, would drastically decrease for the foreseeable future. Exactly that has happened. However, over the last five months blog viewership numbers have stabilized and have once again started to increase for......
Media update: rotate images
published .
Greetings Christian Bloggers, A few minutes ago we turned on a new feature, for all members, that allows you the ability to rotate .jpg image that you have within your Media Storage. We realize that at times you might upload a photograph and it is not orientated in the correct way. Now available is the ability to rotate your .jpg file by either 90° or 180° The only things to note at this time are (a) this feature is only available on .jpg files, and (b) you cannot rotate the 'original' .jpg files for archival preservation purposes. Here is an example of how this new feature looks, based on a photograph within the Media Storage of the owner of ChristianBlog.Com...
The wall, october updates
published . 2 min read
Hello Christian Bloggers, We have made a few changes to the CB Wall over the past few weeks and there will be a few more in the weeks ahead, as we continue to expand that section of our website. To start with, we have drastically increased the allowed maximum amount of characters. Tier 3 bloggers are now able to post wall messages up to 1200 characters in length. All other tiers have been increased to 500 maximum characters. Next we have changed the message box for submitting a new Wall message. It is a rather minor change but we hope everybody likes this cosmetic change better. Next we have brought back smilies/emoticons. @mumbly has been asking for them for months and we thought this would be a great time to bring them back. There is a 5 smilie limit, if you post more than 5, they will......
Poll: should we change the new editor to be a multi-step publication process?
published . 1 min read
Hello Christian Bloggers, Our new blog editor allows bloggers to have a single-page from which to publish their blogs from, unlike our old editor which had a four or five page (step) process for publishing a blog. Since we put into place our new editor a number of bloggers have asked us if we would be willing to use the editor messages editor with all the pretty little buttons, but split apart the rest of the questions into multiple pages/steps like the old blog creation method. We felt we should allow the ChristianBlog.Com community to have the opportunity to provide feedback on this, to get an idea if the vast majority of our bloggers would prefer to all of the blog data/questions on a single page, or have it broken into multiple pages/steps. So we have created a poll (see below) that......

New visitor home page
published . 1 min read
Greetings Bloggers, A few minutes ago we activated a new visitor home page to the ChristianBlog.Com website. This new home page is similar to our previous version, with a few notable changes. First up is that we have now put into place the Blog Introductions that we added to the website three weeks ago. Secondly, the new home page is now fully automated. The blogs that are displayed on the home page are now determined based on a set of qualifications, and no longer manually selected and added to the home page by the owner of the ChristianBlog.Com ministry. The qualifications to have your blog be displayed on the new visitor home page are: Only bloggers that are paying members Only blogs that have a photograph Only blogs that have an introduction Only blogs set to allow comments Only......
Twenty five million blog views!
published . 1 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, All of you deserve a huge pat on the back! A few weeks ago we reached the 25,000,000 (twenty five million) mark for total blog views since the website went online! This is truly an amazing statistic! Even if you are somebody that does not care about statistics, twenty-five MILLION is still a huge number! According to our "old news" page, the owner of the ChristianBlog.Com website, @abelajohnb, started working on the website on December 11, 2005, almost eight years ago. That works out to 3,125,000 (3.1 million) blogs viewed every year. Now this 25-million number is just for blog views! If you count the entire website we are presently at a little over 115,000,000 (one hundred fifteen million) total pageviews! While that number is truly amazing, what......
Update on the new blog editor
published . 6 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, Twenty days ago we announced a new blog editor for the ChristianBlog.Com website and it has been great to see the wonderful feedback that we have received so far about it. Over the last nearly two weeks have added a number of small new features, updated a few features that needed adjustment, and fixed a few bugs that needed squishing. Questions & Answers: There have been a number of questions that we have been asked and we wanted to address as many of them as we can. Question: I do not like the new editor and want to keep using the old one, but you say you are doing to do away with the old one. Any chance you would reconsider keeping the old one around? Answer: We are looking for ways to solve the issues that you (and others) might be having with the new......

What does that mean? It means that this is a potential savings of $93 / ‚¬70 per month for Tier 3 bloggers, almost totally paying for your Tier 3 membership! Other tiers can continue to purchase Sponsored Blogs individually at any time. Tier 3 bloggers are under the same limitation as other tiers regarding maximum consecutive Sponsored Blogs, which is seven at this point in time. Stay signed into christianblog.com for up to two weeks!
published . 1 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, We have just added a new option on the Sign In page that will allow you to select if you want to stay signed into the ChristianBlog.Com for an extended period of time, presently set at fifteen days. This is great for those that regularly visit the ChristianBlog.Com website on their own computer. If you use a public computer (a library for example) or if you share your computer with a family member that is also a ChristianBlog.Com blogger, you will probably want to keep this set at "No" for all of the obvious reasons. Please note that a few of the browsers that we have tested this on, under Windows, OS X, and Ubuntu will not allow you to remained signed into the website after you close your browser, even if you select this to "Yes" and want......
Receive alerts for new prayer requests!
published . 1 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, We have just turned on a new feature that will allow you to receive an alert when new prayer requests have been posted to the Prayer section of the ChristianBlog.Com website! This is a feature that was requested we add to the website via our contact form and we received a number of requests for it over the last few months. We try hard to add to our website those feature requestes that we receive multiple requests for and having a way of being notified when new prayer requests are posted has been one of the feature requests we have received a great deal of requests for. This new feature will only alert you to new prayer requests. It will not alert you to comments added to any prayer requests. The idea behind this new feature is to let you know when new prayer......
New feature: blog introductions
published . 1 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, Earlier today we introduced a new feature called "Blog Introductions" to our new blog editor. Blog Introductions are a one-sentence introduction about your blog. Blog Introductions are a required field, meaning you will have to fill out the Blog Introductions field when you are publishing a new blog. These have also been known as snippets, one-liners, and other terms over the course of time - we just prefer to call them "Introductions" because they are what introduce your blog to viewers. If you feel like this new required field is going to challenge you, we find that to be a good thing! We think if folks are going to write paragraphs and paragraphs (and sometimes a whole lot more) about a topic, they should also be able to write a single......

Greetings Christian Bloggers, Today we are excited to announce that ChristianBlog.Com is introducing a brand new blog editor! This new blog editor, the tool used to created (and edit) your blogs, has been in the works for the better part of 2013, and it will allow our bloggers to create beautiful and rich blogs, unlike any that they have done before! It features a very easy to use new interface with great looking icons for bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, and even sub and sup text! Gone are the days of clicking a button and typing your text into a small pop-up window! Now just type your blog, highlight the text you want to style, and press a button! (you can also press: ctrl+b/i/u for the corresponding styles!) You can now align text to the center and right, easily created numbered......
New contact form for quickly sending your friends private messages
published . 1 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, We have just released a new page that will allow you to quickly and easily send a private message to one of your friends! Previously you would have to hunt down your friends profile page and click a link which would than take you to a form where you would compose and send your message. This new page allows you to simply go to your "Messages" (the link is always at the top of the website) and click the new "Start A New Message" link. Once you are on the new page just scroll down your list of friends and select who you want to send the private message too. Multi-friend Messages: We get this request a lot, but we are still not willing to allow bloggers to send a private message to a bunch of different people at once, even if the different......
Discontinuing google advertisements
published . 1 min read
Greetings Bloggers, Effective today, July 20 2013, the ChristianBlog.Com will no long be presenting Google based advertisements within our website. New laws that have come into effect have caused us to re-evaluate using advertisements as a means of financially off-setting some of our monthly expenses. Sadly, this change will result in the ChristianBlog.Com ministry loosing one of our most important means of cash flow. It will take us about a dozen new monthly subscribers to make up for the difference in lost cash flow, taking us further into the negative status of our monthly budgets. We would invite all of our bloggers that are not yet full paying bloggers to become a supporting blogger to help us continue on the ChristianBlog.Com ministry. Like every ministry, ChristianBlog.Com requires......
Recommend by mistake
published . 1 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, We LOVE the "Recommend This Blog" feature here at ChristianBlog.Com! But we also know there are times when your mouse and finger get a bit twitchy and you might click the link by mistake. So starting this morning you can now mark your Blog Recommendation as a mistaken recommendation. When you click on the "Recommend this blog" link, if you find that you do so inadvertently, you will now see a link entitled "Recommend by mistake?". If you press on that link you will mark your recommendation as a mistake and it will cause your recommendation for the given blog to no longer display as a recommendation. This feature has been added as a result of ChristianBlog.Com receiving feedback from our members. If you have ideas or feature......
Personal monetization now available!

Greetings Christian Bloggers, ChristianBlog.Com is excited to announce that we are now releasing the ability for Tier 3 members to add monetization to your blogs and your profile page. Account Monetization is a feature that allows you to monetize your account within the ChristianBlog.Com website through the use of third-party companies that the ChristianBlog.Com Services tie into. We offer the ability to place monetization features within your blogs and profile. At time of launch we are offering monetization via the extreamly popular Flattr system, which allows other Flattr members to send you 'micro payments' (or even 'one-time payments') by simply clicking on a button that will be added to all of your blogs and your profile page. You will, of course, need to be a......
Usersnames pseudonyms & real names - a new approach
published . 3 min read
Greetings Bloggers, Effective today, May 01, 2013, the ChristianBlog.Com website is now automatically displaying the first and last name of all new bloggers throughout the website, rather than displaying a bloggers pseudonym. All existing accounts will continue to display the bloggers username/pseudonym unless the blogger has set their account to display their name. We do encourage our bloggers to make the switch to displaying your real name, but at this point in time we are not enforcing it across all accounts. This change of the default display of a bloggers full name is a result of numerous laws being passed, and attempting to get passed, in nations throughout the world. While ChristianBlog.Com is governed by the laws of the USA, because we have members in nations outside of the USA we......
Donations still accepted
published . 1 min read
Greetings Bloggers, We wanted to take a moment and let all of our bloggers know that ChristianBlog.Com is still accepting donations. We have heard from some of our long time bloggers asking if we are still accepting donations now that we have become an all paid website, and the answer to that is yes, very much so! Donations, since the start of the ChristianBlog.Com website, eight years ago, has been the primary means of helping us cover our monthly costs. We knew that by going to an all paid website we would not be able to generate enough funds to cover all of our monthly bills for a fair amount of time. At our current rate of growth (financially supporting bloggers) we are looking at a minimum of 15 months before we even remotely come close to our costs - as they exist today. This still......
Service updates: march 2013
published . 2 min read
Greetings Bloggers, A few Service updates for March 2013. First up is that we have redesigned our visitor home page. This change came about in order to better improve the design of the home page and to resolve issues associated with the automated selection of which blogs to display. One very important aspect of this change that will effect all of our bloggers is that the very first requirement to help your own blogs get listed on the visitor home page is to add a blog photograph to your blogs - the second step when creating a new blog. We are specifically looking for blogs that have photographs that are at least 200 pixels in width. An easy way to accomplish this is to use this flickr search page to help in your search for photographs to use - just be sure to give the photographer due......
Update on status of website outages
published . 2 min read
Greetings Bloggers, Over the last 24 hours the ChristianBlog.Com Services have suffered some down-time and other issues related to the down-time. The primary cause of this was a backup power generator that failed at a very bad time. Our primary server (a computer websites run on) is based out of Chicago and the company has redundant hardware (batteries and power generators) but unfortunately the local power company in Chicago had power outages that went well beyond what our batteries are capable of keeping power to our Server. The power going out would not normally be a problem as the generators are there to power the batteries when they get low. But in this case, the power went out, the batteries ran out, and the generator blew a hose - and the combination of such resulted in the server......
New security feature: account signin history
published . 2 min read
Greetings Bloggers, We have just turned on a new security feature that will allow all of our bloggers to be able to see a history of when they have signed into the ChristianBlog website. This new security feature will allow to to monitor and be aware if your account is being accessed by somebody other than yourself. Each time you sign into the website we log information about your internet connection (all websites do this) and we felt it was worth putting together this information into a format that all of our bloggers could see, to be able to make sure that their accounts are secure. The information we are displaying is the exact date and time that you signed into the CB website, your ip address, your city and country. In this screenshot below you can see a brief example of the account......
Updates to cb, january 30, 2013
published . 1 min read
Greetings Bloggers, Two announcements for today. The first is that we have added a new set of options for limiting the display of blogs on the home page. You can access this new feature by going to your Signin Settings page. What this new feature does is allow you to select if you want all of the blogs to be displayed (how it has always been) or if you would like to display only those blogs that have been published within the previous 24 hours, or if you would like to display only those blogs published since the last time you signed into the website. This has been a feature requested by a number of our very active bloggers to help them limit the amount of blogs that are displayed each time that they sign into the website throughout the day. The second change is that we have changed the......
Removal of blog privacy option
published . 1 min read
Greetings Bloggers, In our continued effort to make the ChristianBlog.Com blog publishing process as simple and streamlined as possible, to reduce the overall complexity of our website, and because we have a lot of features that are almost never used - and some that are never used - over the course of the next few weeks ChristianBlog.Com will be removing a number of features from our website. The first that will be removed is the 'Blog Privacy' option. This was a feature designed to allow bloggers to make their blogs viewable to (1) the entire world, (2) just their friends, or (3) just fellow CB bloggers. In looking at the usage of this feature we have realized that it is simply not being used by enough of our bloggers to justify keeping it around and adding to the overall......
Updates to the christianblog.com services, 2013

All of us here at ChristianBlog.Com wish you a blessed 2013! The following changes have taken place over the last few hours, as we have ushered in the 2013 new year. Please carefully review the following listed changes as some of the changes apply for some of our bloggers, and some of the changes apply for all of our bloggers. Personal Contact Information: On July 16, 2009 ChristianBlog.Com introduced the "Personal Contact Information" feature to our website. The "PCI" as it became known was the most secure means of allowing two people to share personal contact information with each other. It has continued to be one of the most secure means of doing so anywhere on the internet. The feature was originally created because our website was made up of minors and adults, and......
Merry christmas & holiday vacation
published . 1 min read
Greetings All. Well I decided this morning that today was going to be the last day that I work for the rest of the year. I am going to take the next two weeks off and try to relax and enjoy the Christmas season. My father will be visiting the week after Christmas, so that will be a few special days for me. I might get in a few hours here and there working on some minor things if I truly get bored, and I will still be taking care of any technical support issues that come in, as well as upgrading/downgrading accounts, and resolving any website reports that are received. I know I said I wanted to get the entire website switched over to the All Paid Website by years end, and I am sorry for breaking that goal I set, but I am sure most of you out there understand the reasons why I am taking the......
Prayer requests have returned!
published . 2 min read
Greetings Bloggers, We wanted to let all of our bloggers know that we have brought back the "Prayer Requests" feature of the ChristianBlog.Com website! This has been an unexpected decision to return the Prayer Requests feature back to the website but there were a lot more reasons for not bringing it back then there were for not bringing it back. The biggest reason being that prayer is important, and as a ministry this website needs prayer and we know that those who are a part of this ministry need prayer. What more reason does there need to be. We would like to say a lot of thought went into the design and development of our new prayer requests feature... but the honest truth is, it only took us about five hours to put it all together, and to test it, and to fix some mistakes we......

See the profile page of @abela for a full example of how this feature looks and works. For our initial release of this feature we are providing the ability to link the following social websites and services to your profile: Twitter, Facebook, GooglePlus, LinkedIn, Flickr, YouTube, Pinterest, Tagged, Lastfm, Myspace, MyHeritage, FourSquare, Delicious, Flixster, Cafemom, Skype. This makes up approximately 85-90% of the largest......

Greetings Christian Bloggers, We are only five days away from our initial 60-day trail membership from coming to its limit, which means the vast majority of our bloggers only have a few days left to become full paying members. We would like to thank all of those who have already stepped forward and have become full paying members and thereby helped us to continue to meet the goals of ChristianBlog.Com becoming an all paid website. As we mentioned within our All Paid Website Announcement we would be offering a limited amount of free/gifted memberships to those that are active bloggers and yet are unable to become paying members. Free/Gifted Membership For the past few years ChristianBlog.Com has offered a small handful of free Pledge Partner level memberships to those who had reached their......
Blog tags return!
published . 3 min read
Greetings Bloggers, Today we are announcing the return of Blog Tags to the Christian Blog website! Blog tags are type of quasi-categories, but short and to the point. A blogger can, over time, develop a dozen or more unique blog tags that create a powerful way that can drive a lot of people to different blogs that you publish about a given topic. They can be thought of as a non-hierarchical series, keywords, or a quasi-category system, that each individual blogger develops on their own and which are specific to just their own published blogs. Each tag will be linked to a specific page that shows a list of all of the blogs that you have marked using each specific tag. As a result of this you should be use very specific tags rather than very generic tags. ChristianBlog.Com use to have blog......

This new feature is very easy to use. When you create a new blog, or if you go back and want to edit your already published blogs, you will see a new option called "Allow......

Greetings Christian Bloggers, There are exciting things happening here at ChristianBlog.Com and we wanted to take a few moments to share with you some of these amazing events. ChristianBlog.Com is growing at a tremendous pace. Many people for many years have been saying that blogging is dead. Here at ChristianBlog.Com we say that blogging is still alive and doing amazingly well. It has opened doors to the 2 billion Christians around the world to share their faith with the rest of the five billion people on the planet. There is no other Christian-based Blog Service Provider on the planet that is as big as ChristianBlog.Com is and has more blogs published every month than what we do here at the ChristianBlog.Com website. We just recently passed the 31,000 blog mark. Those 31 thousand blogs......
New inappropriate word filter being implemented
published . 2 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, Over the last 72 hours we have been rolling out a new system to attempt to censor out inappropriate words within the ChristianBlog.Com website. We have been using the same bad word system since we started the website nearly 8 years ago and it has started to show its age. We have recently developed a whole new system and have been getting it added throughout the website over the last three days. As of this time both of the systems are turned on until we are confident that our new filter will work far better than our existing filter does. All tests indicate that is capable of being a much more aggressive filter at detecting words that are not appropriate for a Christian website. We would like to point out that we are checking for hundreds of bad words (our list......
New home page coming soon!
published . 1 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, We wanted to let all of our bloggers know that in October of 2012 we will be rolling out a newly designed (logged in) home page for all of our bloggers that we are excited about. A small group of bloggers have been using it for around four month and we have recently offered the ability for our Pledge Partners to give it a go. We felt it was time to allow all of our bloggers the ability to check it out on their own before we make the change across all of our bloggers accounts. Consider this an "early opt-in" if you would like. We do not want to just force it on everybody at this time, but come October of this year all of our bloggers accounts will be using the new home page - though we will allow Pledge Partners the ability to keep using the old......
Pledge drive: 100 x 50
published . 8 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, In December of this year ChristianBlog.Com will be 8 years old - an amazingly adventure it has been - filled with tremendous blessing after blessing! As the owner of the website, I cannot help but to stop and ponder on the real truth of what this website is: an online ministry that is uniting together Christians from around the world (over 225 countries and provinces so far!) where they are able to bless others and be blessed by others! I really do think that more than anything, blessings is the underlining aspect of what the ChristianBlog ministry is all about. So much of Christendom has seemingly forgotten what this means. It is a simple act, that of blessing others. It could be a phone call to somebody you know. It could be feeding a family in need. It......

This feature is enabled on blogs and the Wall and works on all comments/replies as well! The "like" feature of websites allows people to very quickly and easily click a link that allows them to indicate that they "liked" the comment/reply/wall/whatever. It has no effect on any other aspect of the website. This feature is presently available only for our Pledge Partners - so that we can allow them early access to this new feature. We plan to release it to our bloggers with free accounts in the near future. This feature has had limited testing over the last two weeks by our Testers Group and no reports of any......
Feature announcement: autosave blog
published . 1 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, ChristianBlog.Com is excited to announce that we have now added a feature to our blog publishing system that will automatically save the blog message as you are typing your message. This feature is beneficial for those who at times find that their internet is dropping, or their browser crashes, or the very rare times when the website faults when you press the button to proceed. It is important to note that this is a browser-based autosave feature. So if you have turned off, or are using a security app that blocks , this simply will not work (nor will a lot of things at our website.). Additionally, because this is browser based, you will not be able to start a blog on one computer than transfer to another computer and have it saved there. The Blog Content is......
Points, points management, and points gifts!

Greetings Christian Bloggers, A short while back the owner of the ChristianBlog.Com website (@abela) posted a brief message on his wall announcing that ChristianBlog.Com had unveiled its newly released "Points" feature. This new feature is a "for fun" feature and at this time has no barring at all at the rest of the website, beyond being a "fun feature" for our bloggers. What are "Points"? Each Blogger receives a certain amount of "point" for doing different things within the ChristianBlog.Com website (such as publishing blogs, commenting on blogs, posting on your wall, creating blog series, and so forth) and we have created different ranking levels depending on how many points you have. Rather than spoil all of the fun we are going to......

This change is required in order for us to remain compliant with California State laws, and a number of USA Federal laws, due to changes in Services that ChristianBlog.Com provides. Introducing blog snippets
published . 1 min read
Greeting Christian Bloggers, Earlier today ChristianBlog.Com introduced a new and exciting feature within our Quick Blog Publishing (the little clock icon next to the "post a blog" link at the top of our website) which will allow blog authors to define exactly what message is displayed when their blog is displayed on the home page, rather than the initial few sentences of their blog being displayed. This new feature is available only on the Quick Blog Publishing page and may eventually work its way into our extended blog publishing system. The new feature is also only available to our Pledge Partners. Since the start of ChristianBlog.Com website, over six years ago, we......
Christianblog.com needs your continued donations!
published . 3 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, For the better part of the last three years (2008-2011) over 80% of the financial support that has come into ChristianBlog.Com has been through one-time donations that our bloggers have sent our way. Over the last 6 months that 80% number has decreased to less than 1% of our financial inflow. This has put us in a rather tight spot. We have, for the last few years, been greatly depending upon donations as the means to cover our monthly expenses. In the 6+ years that ChristianBlog.Com has been online we have never had a profitable quarter. Each month that ChristianBlog.Com has been online it has been a negative cash flow month for the owner of the ChristianBlog.Com website. We know in the past we have asked our bloggers to push themselves in givings to help us......
Blog comment approval
published . 3 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, Today ChristianBlog.Com is amazingly happy to announce that we are rolling out a new feature called the "Blog Comment Approval" feature, which is a feature that will allow our Pledge Partners the ability to select an option that will allow them the ability to approve or deny each and every comment added to the blogs that they activate this new feature on. ChristianBlog.Com is designed so that any blogger logged into the website can post comments. We believe that this gives the greatest level of freedom. If, however, you desire to have your blogs not automatically have comments made public than you can activate this feature that will allow comments to be written/created but they will not automatically be published (viewable) within your blog. Rather......
Solved: microsoft word apostrophes and quotes from being removed
published . 1 min read
Greetings Bloggers, Over the last few months we have received a rather large number of bloggers indicating that the ChristianBlog.Com website has been causing issues to their blogs when the blogger has written their blog within Microsoft Word and then copy and pasted their blog content from within MS Word into the ChristianBlog.Com website, specifically we have heard that the website has replaced apostrophes, double quotes and dashes with a blank space. In researching how to solve this issue we have discovered that this has been an issue for a lot of websites recently due to Microsoft decided to change long existing standards and use their own ‘standards' which nobody else actually uses. We have spent an incredible amount of time attempting to solve this problem and we believe......
Feature announcement: daily bible verse!
published . 3 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers! We have a special and very neat feature we want to announce to our bloggers - called "Daily Bible Verse". So many websites these days have a "daily bible verse" feature - but we did not want to have just another Daily Bible Verse feature... we wanted to take it up a notch or two! So what could possible make a Daily Bible Verse better than anything else out there? Well we could only think of one thing... make it interactive! We first asked a group of our bloggers if any of them would be willing to submit the Daily Bible Verses. You see, we did not want some randomized and automated system pulling Bible verses and displaying them - we wanted to know that the Daily Bible Verses displayed on our website are actually Bible Verses that have......
Announcement: update to the ignorelist system
published . 1 min read
Hello Christian Bloggers, A week ago we were made aware of a potential issue with our IgnoreList feature and over the course of the last week we have been working directly with the member who reported the issue to resolve it. Yesterday we believe we resolved the issue internally and performed some tests to validate it would not have any unintended consequences. We were unable to find any such issues and this morning we have switched over to using the updated IgnoreList code that we developed to resolve the issue. We are publicly notifying our bloggers to be up-front and clear about this issue and in hopes of having our members double check to make sure that the new system is fully functional for them. The issue was allowing bloggers who had other bloggers in their IgnoreList from still......

It has never been easier to publish a blog here at ChristianBlog.Com! To access this new feature just click on the small clock/timer icon next to the standard 'Create a Blog' link at the top of our website. Many Blessings! ChristianBlog.Com...
Discontinuation of non-official cb groups
published . 1 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, In January of 2011 we announced that we were shutting down all of the existing CB Groups with the exception of the two official Groups and three individual Groups which were overseen, monitored, and managed by volunteer members of the ChristianBlog.Com website. Over the last 12 months we have continued to monitor those three Groups that we allowed to remain to ensure that they were being utilized by the CB Community at large. Each of the three non-official Groups have received sporadic usage here and there over the last year but none of them have remained active on a daily basis - or even a weekly basis. Sadly, sometimes the three Groups would go many weeks without being used. Effective immediately ChristianBlog.Com Services has shut down those three......
Christianblog.com google chrome app!
published . 1 min read
If you are one of the millions of people that use Google Chrome than we invite you to install the ChristianBlog.Com Google Chrome App which was just officially released a few hours ago! Like all "apps" for Google Chrome all it does it place an icon on your "apps" page, which is usually the page that is displayed when you first start Google Chrome. When you click on the icon it will load the website. That is all it does, but it does it well, we think! This is a great and super fast way to be able to view the ChristianBlog.Com website as soon as you start your browser - if you do not already have your browser setup to load ChristianBlog.Com automatically, of course. With this launch of the ChristianBlog.Com Google Chrome App we are also formally releasing into the public......

We took a look at it and sure enough it was missing a lot of time zones. We we went to work building an entirely new list of all of the known timezones. This has resulted in an increase of 236 additional time zones. Some important ones that we were missing include Canada, Australia, Africa and more. Greeting Christian Bloggers! After more than a year of being offline we are very happy to announce that the Discussions section of the ChristianBlog.Com website has been brought back! A lot has happened over the last year here at the ChristianBlog.Com website and after a lot of talking about it with a lot of different people we realized that after shutting down the vast majority of Groups, it would be nice to have a place were our members could post questions that they are needing answers too. We just want to make one thing clear to everybody - and it is our sincere hope that everybody will understand and abide by this. With the return of the Discussions we are really wanting to do one thing: to provide a place where people who do not know the answer to a question are able to post a......
Feature announcement: related blogs
published . 3 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, Tonight we are announcing the release of a brand new feature we are calling "Related Blogs" which allows two different bloggers to link together blogs that they have each individually published that are in some way related to each other. The concept behind this new feature is one of allowing bloggers who are inspired by a blog that they have read (and which somebody else published) to create a blog of their own about the same topic and than request of the original blog author the ability to link together the two blogs. Say for example, you are reading a blog written by @abelajohnb (the owner of ChristianBlog.Com) and it inspires you to write you own blog on something he mentioned within his blog. Once you have published your blog you can revisit his......
Policy updates: content policy: off-site linking
published . 4 min read
Hello Christian Blogggers, As always we want to thank each and every person out there who continues to financially support the CB ministry by becoming a Pledge Partner! It is a true blessing to be able to be blessed to operate the CB website as we do thanks to those who help financially support it. After many weeks of discussion by the CB Advisory Group and other powers-that-be it has been decided that we need to make some changes to the ChristianBlog.Com Content Policy concerning the issue of off-site linking. The term "off-site linking" is when individuals link to another website from within the ChristianBlog.Com website. So for example a blogger might post a link to their personal website, or their facebook or twitter pages. Those links that take people away from the CB......

Redesigned feature: prayer requests
published . 2 min read
July is almost here and we are excited to let our faithful members of the ChristianBlog.Com website know that we have, as of a few hours ago, released a brand new, totally redesigned, prayer requests feature of our website. Some may wonder "what was wrong with the old one?" and truth be told, not a whole lot was wrong with it, but there were just enough things that were wrong with it to make it justifiable to making a whole new one. Specifically, we received a lot of feedback from bloggers who were tired of getting Account Alerts all day long, just from the Prayer Requests - and this was very justifiable, we got tired of it too. We also had a lot of people who were unfamiliar with how our Groups work and found it too complicated to use the feature. We also had a few problems......

Blog shorturl duplications

Hello ChristianBlog.Com Bloggers, We recently become aware that the ShortURL for blogs has suffered a duplication issue. Out of the nearly 25,00 blogs that have been published here at ChristianBlog.Com around 200-250 of them have suffered ShortURL duplications. So that means that around 125 originally assigned ShortURL's for specific blogs have been assigned to two different blogs. We have, as of this morning, resolved the issue that caused the ShortURL duplication, however we have not yet resolved assigning new ShortURL's to those blogs that have duplicate ShortURL's. We are trying to work through the best way to solve this issue and will provide updates when we have resolve this matter. We have, for now, decided to remain with a 4-character ShortURL rather than increasing it......

This feature is very simple and straight forward: If there is a specific blogger you would like to be notified (via email) of when s/he published a new blog, simply activate the tracker and each time the blogger published a new blog you will receive an email letting you know. Within the profile page of all bloggers (not just your friends) you will see a new option within the "Contact" section that says: "If you would like to receive an email when {blogger_usersname} publishes a new blog you can click here." We wanted to take a very quick moment to explain the purpose of this months Donation drive. Bloggers who have been around ChristianBlog.Com for any amount of time may recognize it from the past - as we previously used the ChipIn method to help us raise funds. We were able to stop using this method early last year because we have been able to sustain a significant monthly donation rate - though we still run in the negative finacially most months. It has come time that our office computer has reached a point of needing replacement, along with a few other office items (printer, scanner, etc) that we have badly been needing to replace. The $1,500 should be about 80%......
Blogs are now fully #hashtag friendly!

As those who keep an eye on our Website Update History page are aware, last week we introduced a feature called "hash tags" to our blog comments and blog replies. As of a few minutes ago hashtags are now fully working on comments, replies, and the primary blog text themselves - non retroactive. What are hashtags? If you have no idea what a hashtag is, do not feel to bad. Until a few years ago hashtags as they are used today did not even exist. If you really care to know the whole history of them and all the nittygritty we would recommend this page from wikipedia.org If you want the short version of what they are we would recommend you read up on this page from twitter.com - which is where hashtags really became popular to use at. The most basic explination of a hashtag is that......

Through the help of a number of our bloggers we have been able to develop a system that works amazingly well at being able to both manage your blog series and present them in a professional manner. Updated limitations on smiles and images.

Hello everybody, As ChristianBlog.Com is getting closer and closer to releasing an update to our Blog Publishing System - which will make the publication of blogs easier and much more interactive - we have found some needs to institute some limitations when it comes to certain features we offer. Specifically, our new system makes it very easy to potentially abuse the system with excessive usage. The initial limitation that we have already put into place is a limitation on the total number of smilies/emoticons that can be used. We made note of this within our website updates back on February 5th. Effective tonight (February 13, 2011) we will put into place a limitation on the total number of photos/images that be used. We are going to start with an initial max-usage of five (5)......

First is a small change to the Show-As-Online/Offline page. We have reworded this page to help our bloggers better understand the privacy of this feature. Second is a revamp of the Blog Queue Management feature for our Pledge Partners. This feature is now disabled by default. We have been slowly passing them out on a very-conservative-as-needed-basis for the last five months and we have recently passed along the last one we had left. Near Immediant Needs: Right now we are in need of five new ones to replentish our slots. We have recently had three people contact us that they are in need of some help, so chances are pretty good that whatever we get to replintish our slots will be passed along almost imediantly. These are all long-time bloggers who have recently found themselves in retirement......

Blog management updates

Greetings everybody, We have just pushed out some changes to the "My Blogs" page that will resolve a large percentage of the feature requests we have received over the last two years, that have resolved around the management of blogs. There have been four major updates: First up is that we have updated the form when you process the removal of your own blogs. We neglected to update it to our updated template way back when we last updated our website design. We have also made it a bit easier to understand what you are doing when the page presents itself. Secondly, we have allowed the ability to remove 'incomplete' blogs that are listed. Without a doubt one of our most requested features over the last two years. As most of our bloggers have discovered, in those times when......

The process of exporting your blogs is as such: You are provided the ability to select which year and month you would like to export. You are also provided the ability to strip out bbcode and smiles from your blog content. If you have less than 200 blogs you can export them all at once. Each blog that you have published will be saved as an individual text......

Hello Everybody, A short while ago (15 minutes or so) we re-activated the "Trackbacks" - also known as "Backlinks" - feature of our blogs here at the ChristianBlog.Com website. We had to disable them awhile back in order to help us solve some on-going issues with the website for our international bloggers. We have been able to stabilize those issues for our international bloggers and we also reworked the code efficiency of our Trackbacks in order to reduce the load on our Services and provide more accurate Trackback results. While we were at it we also made a slight change to the blog page. Previous we displayed only a link that said "Backlinks". We have now updated it to display "Backlinks: x" with "x" being the amount of......

Hello Everybody, Back on July 05 2010 ChristianBlog.Com announced a new feature called "Sponsored Blogs" - which are the blogs that rotate at the top of our website. It has been three months since this new feature was released and we wanted to provide some feedback for our members. As we expected it to be, the feature took off rather slow - admittedly. We sort of expected it too. The idea of members paying for a service that may or may not actually drive more traffic to their blogs was a very new idea for the ChristianBlog.Com - and Blog Service Providers in general. We offered some pretty sweet initial deals to get our members use to the feature, to see if it would gather some momentum. Along the way we have slightly adjusted the duration of how long they are listed and made......
Highly experimental: bloggers to follow

When it does show, it will display between one and three other ChristianBlog.Com bloggers which you might want to consider following. Applied Logic: The basic logic behind this new highly experimental feature is that we take a list of all of your existing friends. We than pick two friends from your friendslist. We than compare the friends of those two friends and remove any friends that both friends do not have in common. If there are any friends that the two friends have in common, we compare those friends to your own friendslist to see if they are......

Starting October 01, 2010 we will begin to log/record/track all one-time donations that we receive - this includes via PayPal, AlertPay, Money Orders, and Checks. What we will not log/record/track is the month-to-month Pledge Partnership subscriptions. The vast majority of our Pledge Partners have indicated to us that they have no desire to receive tracking on their month-to-month Pledge Partnership, but they would very much like to have their one-time donations......
Featured blogs update
published . 3 min read
We wanted to announce to our members that we have just instituted a new method of our popular "Featured Blogs" feature. Our last major overhaul of the Featured Blogs was back on Aug 06 2009, so just over one year ago. We have done some minor changes since our last update, mostly in attempts to solve duration issues and fix a few bugs, but for the most part it has stayed the same. Changes Since Last Major Update: Perhaps the two biggest changes since last year have been: , We have since created our very awesome Sponsored Blogs feature , We started allowing Gold Members the ability to have more than a single Featured Blog. Since Our Last Major Update: Along the way we have had a large amount of people request some additional features to the Featured Blogs, including the ability to......
Christianblog.com chatroom updated
published . 1 min read
Hello Everybody, A few days ago we broke something within our chatroom so we figured rather than try to fix it we would just install a whole new version of our chatroom software. It will still work the same, look the same, and all that good stuff - with a few exceptions. You will still access it via the "chatroom" link at the top of our website. At this time the custom smilies we added are not working. Neither are the custom sound files. And, neither are the avatar/profile-photos (some folks have reported they see a ballon for an avatar... and some folks are not seeing anything LOL) Please note: You must "register" within this new chatroom. There should be a link that says "register" when the page shows up when you click the "chatroom" link at the......
Feedback wanted: story blogs
published . 3 min read
Hello Everybody, We here at ChristianBlog.Com are always thinking up new ideas - and thankfully we forget most of them before we can find a piece of paper and a pen! One of the ideas we have had for the last few months (ok, more like a year or so) is to set up a feature that would allow "story blogs" - (a 'what' we hear you thinking) - which is a blog that is started with a general theme, and which is "written" by the members of our website. The general idea is that every month (or more often if desired) we create an initial blog. Each member of our website would than be able to post a comment to the blog, that would be a continuation of the "story". The idea is that each comment that is made builds upon the comment of the previous comment and the......
Teaser: account alerts for blog activity
published . 2 min read
Hello Everybody, This is just a quick teaser to let our members be aware of something we are testing out. A few days ago we created a members poll that asked the question Would You Like To Receive "Alerts" To New Comments On Your Blogs? and so far it seems to be about 75% / 25%, with the majority indicating they would like to receive Account Alerts for Blog Activity. Earlier today we started setting up the hardest of these Account Alerts - Reply Updates. Replies (comments made to a comment) are the hardest aspect of our software, in regards to development of the software. The entire "replies" aspect of our website software requires 3-times the amount of work as blogs and blog comments. They are a true pain to develop because of the complexity of them. So, we figured we......
"gallery" becomes an all new "photos" album!
published . 7 min read
ChristianBlog.Com is happy to announce that a long-planned update of our "Gallery" system has just been finished. We last released a major update of our gallery system back on December 15th of 2006 and except for a few changes over the years it has remained pretty much how it was when we released it. WE have known for quite some time that it was getting out-dated and over the last year it has been very much in need of a complete redesign. After months of planning and five (5) solid days of development, we have now finished our (yours) latest update of the gallery/photograph section of the ChristianBlog.Com website. Major Changes: We have made some pretty major changes with this update, including: , We have renamed it from "Gallery" to "Photos" to best reflect......
Google advertisement activated
published . 1 min read
Hello Everybody, For the better part of 2010 we have been trying to raise funds to support ChristianBlog.Com to make up for what we are not able to cover via our Pledge Partnership and Donations. We get close to what we need on a monthly basis every 4 or 5 months but we are still continuing to run in the red (meaning it costs more to run the website than what the website brings in) on a Quarterly basis. We have tried really really hard to keep from having to fill our website with advertisements - and by "we" we mean a number of you folks that help us keep ChristianBlog.Com going on a financial level. Sadly the time has come for us to turn on third-party advertisements. We have chosen to use Google Ads as they are the most popular and #1 advertisement provider in the world. We......
Blog photographs proving to be successful
published . 1 min read
We know that many of you have been increasingly using the Blog Photograph feature that ChristianBlog.Com released on March 02 2010. We have been slowly watching it become more and more popular - which is great! We did some comparisons of the "total blog views" for the twenty (20) blogs that were published yesterday, to compare whether having a Blog Photograph generated more views or if it did not matter. Yesterday was a good day for doing this as there were exactly 20 blogs published - 10 with blog photographs and 10 without a blog photograph. The 10 blogs that were published without a blog photograph were viewed a total of: 889 times The 10 blogs that were published with a blog photograph were viewed a total of: 1002 times That is a fractional difference of 113 - and results in......
New feature: sponsored blogs
published . 3 min read
ChristianBlog.Com has announced many new features added to our website since the first of 2010. All of them have been exciting features! Including new features such as our Pay-It-Forward Membership, Community Supported Technical Support, Custom Blog Categories, New Profile Pages, the Identity Monitor (perhaps our personal favorite new feature), Dedicated Usersnames, Status Photo/Videos, the My Wall, Blog Calendar, Blog Photograph (our second most favorite new feature), and of course our Pledge Partnership. Suffice to say, it has been a busy year for us here at the desk of ChristianBlog.Com! But every-now-and-than a new feature comes along that just blows the rest of them out of the water! While we are not sure if our newest feature is going to beat out the Identity Monitor or the Blog......

ChristianBlog.Com is excited to be able to announce that we have reached the 20,000 (twenty-thousand) Published Blog Entries as of an hour or so ago! We have been awaiting this day for a month or so now, as we have watched it continue to get closer and closer to the 20-thousand mark! Since the start of the 2010 year ChristianBlog.Com has been on an accelerated growth - growing an amazing 15.35% Since the first of the year our stats show that we have had 40,215,641 pageviews. June 2010 alone had 11,038,198 pageviews! Our stats show that during the same timeframe we had 699,803 people access our website. Just as amazing is that the number of people who visit ChristianBlog.Com via bookmarks/favorites on their computers - which has increased from 14.04% to 29.71% since the start of 2010. That......
Thank you for your donations!

Greetings everybody, As the owner of ChristianBlog.Com I wanted to take a moment and say "Thank You" to the 6 people who have made one-time private donations this month! There is simply no way I could keep ChristianBlog.Com opperational without our faithful members who continue to step-forward and offer donations above-and-beyond their monthly pledge partnership. Pledge Partnership typically accounts for 60% - 75% of our needed monthly financial needs. It has only been through the amazing above-and-beyond acts of kindness of a few faithful folks that we are able to keep afloat. I know that each of you who continue to donation month after month already know how much I very much appreciate your acts of kindness. I know I do not contact each of you enough to say so. Hopefully......
Re: off-site smilies
published . 1 min read
Hello Everybody, We would like to request that our members limit the amount of smilies that they include within Published Content here at ChristianBlog.Com, that is from other websites. We have began to notice a massive amount of additional smilies being used throughout the ChristianBlog.Com website, from websites such as smileys.on-my-web.com and freesmilies.org and others. ChristianBlog.Com over the last year has gone to great lengths to make sure that our website load fast - very fast - for the vast majority of our members. We have done so because we know that a number of our members use dial-up internet, which makes things even slower. Every single image that is loaded at our website causes those on slower internet connections even greater load-times. Images that are loaded from......

[public feedback] removing prayer requests feature
published . 1 min read
Greetings Everybody, We are going to file this quick blog under our public feedback welcomed category. Over the two to three couple of weeks we have really been thinking about the prayer needs section of ChristianBlog.Com and how that feature of our website almost never get used anymore. It seems like more and more people are starting to use blogs as their means of disseminating out prayer request issues - which we have no objections to our members doing. While doing so limits the amount of people who could view a prayer request, it seems that it would greatly increase the ability for friends to be aware that other friends are posting a prayer need - this is because a vast majority of our members visit the "friends blogs" section of our website than they do the prayer request......
Blog reading queue
published . 3 min read
Greetings Everybody, Earlier this week we received a rather interesting feature suggestion that peaked our interest enough to see if it could be developed. The idea behind the feature suggestion was to create a "queue" (of sort) that would allow our members to quickly add blogs to a queue that could than be read at any time. In essence, a way of quickly adding blogs to a queue so that the person could continue on viewing other blogs without stopping to take the time to read in detail a given blog. At least, that is how we understood the feature suggestion. After a bit of work and some brain-storming we have come up with a method to do this. We are calling it the "Blog Queue" and it is available right now to all Pledge Partners. We have attempted to integrate it into a......

"Pay-It-Forward" Pledge Partnership is a system designed to allow our members to anonymously purchase Pledge Partnerships for other members of ChristianBlog.Com! All the details are located at: We know that a great deal of our members would love to be able to bless others with a gift of being a Pledge Partner and the "Pay-It-Forward" is the solution to allowing our members the ability to bless others! We have put together a reduced yearly price and the ability to purchase a single "Pay-It-Forward" or a whooping 10 "Pay-It-Forward"......
Community supported technical support
published . 1 min read
Greetings everybody, As ChristianBlog.Com attempts to find ways to reduce our financial overhead to ease the burden on the owner of the website, we felt it would be a wise course of action to start having our members help support some of the technical support aspects of the website. A large portion of the man-hours of operating the website involves answering a plethora of technical support questions. When we put out a poll earlier in the year a number of our members said they would be willing to help with technical support if we were able to develop a system where they could access the tech-support questions that we receive. Until now that was impossible - as we could not give access to our primary tech-support account. Just activated a few minutes ago, ChristianBlog.Com is now officially......
Total blog posting limit will be decreased june 1, 2010
published . 1 min read
Hello, ChristianBlog.Com has made the decision to decrease the total limit of blogs that members with free accounts are able to publish, effective June 1, 2010, from a total of 50 blogs to 10 (ten) [updated: 25 (twenty-five)] blogs. This change will affect less than 210 of our 14,000 members and realistically should only effect around a dozen or so active members. The purpose for this reduction is simply to help encourage a growth of our Pledge Partner system, which helps funds the day-to-day operations of the ChristianBlog.Com Services. Sadly it will affect a few existing members, as we attempt to have a greater impact on our newer members considering their continued use of the ChristianBlog.Com Services. This change is not being put into place to target our existing members, but rather......
Announcement: new publishing system - with custom blog categories!
published . 4 min read
Greetings Everybody, ChristianBlog.Com is happy to announce that we have just finished up the final aspects of our new Blog Publishing System. Our goal was to create an easier to use system that better integrated with the rest of our website. New Features: Here are some of the new features we have added: Website Integration. Full encapsulation within our existing template/design. Many people have noted to us how the old design did not allow them the ability to access other sections of the website while they were publishing blogs. This can be useful for opening in a new tab/window your previous blogs, your friends list, groups, discussions, etc. in order to hunt down something you want to link to within your blog. Custom Blog Categories. A few weeks ago we gave a quick insight into the......
Embedded amazon.com product links
published . 1 min read
Hello Everybody, For a few months ChristianBlog.Com has been testing out a method of embedding links to popular websites (such as christianbook.com and amazon.com and others) to help our members be able to access books and other resources for key words within published Content here at the ChristianBlog.Com website. We have finalized this product testing and decided it was time to begin rolling it out site-wide. Over the course of the next few weeks the vast majority of our website will begin to automatically embed links to Amazon.Com for keywords that are used within Published Content at our website. It should be noted that this will only affect Non Pledge Partners. We feel that if you are a Pledge Partner your Published Content should not be hampered with in any way. However, if you are......
A brand new profile page!
published . 7 min read
Greetings Everybody, A few minutes ago we pushed out to all members and brand new profile page! We have done a total redesign of the profile page, one which we have been working on for the last week, which has gotten great feedback from those who have gotten sneak-peeks at it, and which allow you to view all of the same information as the previous profile page, yet in a much more condensed viewing area. Previously we utilized multiple tabs areas about 1/3rd of the way down the profile page, about 1/2 down the profile page, and another one about 3/4ths of the way down the profile page. What our new profile page does is push all of those tabs into condensed tabs at the very top of the profile page. Thus reducing the total tabs from 10 tabs to 5 tabs. By doing this we have gained an area......

Identity Monitor: ChristianBlog.Com is excited to announce a new private-based feature called "Identity Monitor" which we will be rolling out to all of our Pledge Partners starting today. "Identity Monitor" is designed to alert you should another member of the ChristianBlog.Com website publish your usersname within content they are publishing. This is a great way to be alerted to if others have mentioned you within a blog, open discussion, group discussion, status update, prayer request, or any other section of our website. At this time, the roll out of this feature is limited to the publication of blogs, blog comments and open discussion comments only. We will slowly roll out this feature throughout the rest of our website in the weeks ahead. How It Works: They way......

The additional privacy setting may not be for everybody, so by default the privacy setting will allow anybody to view your prayer request. This is ideal for when you need to post a prayer request, and than send the link to a bunch of your friends, or however it is you disseminate your prayer requests. But, we also understand that there are times when you might want to keep your prayer requests a bit more private. This new privacy setting will make it so only those who are......
Quick teaser: custom blog categories
published . 1 min read
This is just a quick teaser for something that we are working on here behind the mystery that is CB. We are working on doing away with the generic category system that we have had in place for years, in exchange for letting our members maintain their own set of categories. The original idea behind having set-categories was to try to keep some level of cohesion to the whole 'community' side of things. However, as a great many of our members have expressed to us (mostly privately) the entire category system is just not working. It is failing to produce the click-through's by members and visitors that justifies even having them. This leads us to having three choices: , Either we keep them as they are, even though they are almost never used. , We remove categories all together. ,......

Hello Everybody, ChristianBlog.Com is now in a position to be able to offer much nicer links to your profile page! One of the benefits of our recent change in our website design, along with a fair amount of work on the software side of things, we have now been able to develop a rock-solid method for providing much nicer links to profile pages. What does this mean? Instead of having: You can now have: Realistically this is only important if you are something who shares your profile link on other websites. This has no internal effect on the website and is not used anywhere within the website (unless you specifically include the link somewhere.) For instance, the owner of our website has typically had to share the following website address in order to access his profile page: But now he is......

Hello Everybody, For the last few weeks, since we setup the option to use alertpay.com we have been getting requests for more options, especially from our international members. Unfortunately, taking payments across international borders is always a difficult thing, something best left to banks and big companies such as paypal.com and alertpay.com and others. The second-to-last option we have is to setup the ability for people to send us Amazon.Com Gift Certificates (or "cards" as they call them these days). Amazon.Com is pretty much an international business, so this should work rather well for those of you outside of the USA who do not want to use AlertPay.Com, which is a good international company to use. After this option, we really are only going to have one further option......

This new system is tightly integrated into our Account Alerts System for quick notification of responses made to your Featured Suggestions. We will not be automatically migrating all the suggestions posted within the CB Groups into our new system (it would be waaaay to much work) so if you have a featured you would like ChristianBlog.Com to consider adding to our website, please head on over and share it! It works almost identical in method as PayPal.Com, though they do have a slightly higher charge rate (on our end) for acceptance of fees and transactions. Setting up an account at AlertPay.Com does take a day or two - no different than PayPal.Com We would also like to remind everybody that we accept checks and money orders. Further information on this can be found on our donations page. Thank you, ChristianBlog.Com...

The idea was originally suggested back on January 2nd, 2010 by @blessings2you shortly after we began our 2010 Pledge Drive which was - and still is - our goal of reaching enough monthly financial support to fully cover the expenses of the ChristianBlog.Com ministry and reduce the financial burden off the shoulders of the owner of ChristianBlog.Com who has to pull money out his own pocket every month the website is unable to cover its expenses, as he has been for over three years since he started this ministry website.......

Two new bbcode methods for images
published . 1 min read
Hello Everybody, Today we are introducing two (2) new BBCode methods to aid in the inclusion of images/photographs within your published content. We have, since we started using BBCode, always had the ability to use [ image=left ] and [ image=right ] but we decided to simplify this a bit by adding: [ imageleft ] and [ imageright ] The [ image=left/right ] BBCode will still work so any existing (and future) usages of it will not break. These two new methods are simply designed to make the alignment a bit easier. We have also slightly modified the methods of displaying the images and text-wrapping. We feel this is about the best text-wrapping that is going to be possible. Here are examples of the two new methods. imageleft
Website redesign progress

I started this process a week or so ago and held off on any major progress updates as we were not sure if we would keep the new design we are working on and/or if the CB community would not like it. As I have not had any complaints about it, and we are tending to like it in-house, I decided now as as good of time as any to publish a blog with the updates I have made to get the entire website migrated over to this new design. As I have been open to hearing public feedback for the last week or so and have not received any negative comments about it - I am not going to hear any from here out (ok, I mean that as a joke... but at the same time, I'm not going to stop using this template......

When we introduced the "Personal Contact Information" feature we had to halt the ability for people to continue to give the gift... but we did allow those who had received it to continue to keep it. Rather than individually end each members Gift has their one-year-date came due we allowed those who had received it to keep their Premier Membership. Sadly we have no brought an end to these extended periods. All those who have received a gift have had it for at least 12 months - many for 18 months. We realize this might negatively......

Hello Everybody, We know that many of our members, and those who are lurkers but never join ChristianBlog.Com, are interesting in the overall growth of the ChristianBlog.Com ministry. As 2009 has come to an end in the next few hours we felt it was time to put together some numbers to show how well the ChristianBlog.Com ministry has grown this year! Please note that all of the follow statistics are being generated by the Google Analytics system, which is never a 100% accurate reporting system, as it is dependant upon which many people disable, and that it fails to properly report accurate total page views. For that we have our own tracking software that manages actual page-loads of the website. This is the only stat which we shall present which is not from the Google Analytics system.......

Greetings and merry Christmas from ChristianBlog.Com We would like to wish everybody a most wonderful 2009 Christmas! We know that there are folks from one end of the world to the other who are members here at ChristianBlog.Com and it has been an amazing year - a blessed year! We pray that each and every one of our members will have a most wonderful holiday time with their family and that God will richly bless each and every person out there! We have also put together a special (logged in) home page for everybody to have a day or two of checking-out! It is a design we are highly considering implamenting in early 2010. So, we very much welcome feedback from everybody. It is a pretty drastic change from how things are now, so spend some time playing around, clicking on things, experimenting......
Private chat with your friends!

Greetings Everybody! As the holidays approach we know that the ability to chat with your family and friends becomes all the more important! We also know there are times when jumping into our very awesome public chatroom might be more than what you want to do, yet you would still like to chat with one of your friends! So in light of that we are introducing a new feature called "Private Friends Chat" This new feature will allow you to have a private chat (one-on-one) with one of your Friends/Contacts here at ChristianBlog.Com! Within the 'Account Notification' area you will see a list of your friends who are online (or have been within the last 5 minutes) and a message that says "Chat with {usersname}". Simply press the link and a small box will appear......
Suspended content reason responses
published . 2 min read
Hello All, Back in the old days when a ChristianBlog.Com Member violated one of our Global Policies members had to contact @support in order to find out why their Published Content has been suspended. Eventually we had to stop this practice as it become much too time-consuming for our Tech Support guys. Later one we simply posted a notice that the given Published Content had been suspended by either the Community at large or by ChristianBlog.Com itself. However we have began to receive a fair amount of complaints with the inability of our members to know exactly why something has meen suspended - understandably. So starting today (December 10, 2009) ChristianBlog.Com will begin to provide a message with further details about why something has been suspended. These messages will not be......
Blog stats feature updated
published . 1 min read
Hello All, Over the last few months we have been receiving reports that the "Blog Stats" feature within the My Blogs system was having intermediate problems. We have finally gotten to the Bug Report and have resolved the issues that have been reported to us. Unfortunately we had to make a decision between keeping all of the previous stats (which we began gathering on August 2, 2008) and applying a band-aid to the problem... or fixing the problem the right way, yet sacrificing over 1.9 million rows worth of stats. Like problems in our own live, it is often better to just do away with the problem in our live all together and move on with a new perspective from life, rather than walk around with a band-aid over part of our spiritual life. So we have done away with the 1.93 million......
Christianblog.com announces a new blog creation system!
published . 1 min read
Hello All, So, I have spent the last two days trying to write-up a nice little blog about the fact that I have just released this years update to the Blog Creation System. Each year I try to update the forms and process... and it was time for the 2009 update. Each time I tried to write up this News Announcement, I ended up walking away from it. So, rather than let it sit another day I just decided it is time to get it out to the CB Community and let all of you discover all the new little things. Here are the highlights though: Pretty BBCode Images. Blog Title Availability. Blog Words Used. Blog Characters Left. Blog Autosave. (every 20 seconds we now save your blog encase your browser or computer crashes! if such happens just head to your "My Blogs" page!) Blog Message box......
Christianblog.com announces a new polling feature!
published . 3 min read
Hello Everybody, With it being Thanksgiving here in the USA we thought this would be a great time to publicly announce a new feature we have created for the ChristianBlog.Com Community! When many of us think of ChristianBlog.Com the word "community" or "family" comes to mind and means a great deal. It was this in mind when we created our newest feature. We know that part of being a community, part of being a family, is asking others what they feel our believe about a specific topic. Often times when we get together with family members, or fellow believers in Christ, a great deal of our time is spent asking questions to each other. So, what better way of helping to build a community, such as we have here at ChristianBlog.Com, than to create a feature that allows our......
A christmas gift for one lucky donator!
published . 1 min read
Hello Everybody, A while back we received a gift from one of our members, with the hope that we could send it to a donator - as a way of saying "thank you" for donating! It is a delightful little hand-made wind-chime (hand made by the member) with a cross at the top and some metal and glass decorations. It has been hanging up in our office for awhile now waiting for the right time to pass it along - and what better time than Christmas time! This will work in a very simple manner: If you donate $50.00 or more between now and December 16th your name will go into a Christmas stocking. (actually, our residential cats Christmas stocking, which is 2x larger than any other stocking we've ever seen) On December 16th, after the owner of ChristianBlog.Com ( @abelajohnb ) eats his......
Account security updated

Greetings Everybody, Earlier this morning (November 14, 2009) ChristianBlog.Com put into place a number of additional security features to help protect our members account. Our new Account Security System will greatly increased the primary security of our members account. Upon your first login you will be taken to a new form where you will be asked to review/update some existing account information as well as provide some new information for our new Account Security system. Passphrases: At the heart of this update is a move away from traditional passwords into a higher level of account security using the very popular Passphrase methodology of cryptography. If you are really into knowing the details we recommend reading up on passphrases at these links: Wikipedia: Passphrase, The......
Our new splash style home page
published . 1 min read
Hello Everybody, For those of you who do not have a bookmark directly to the login page of ChristianBlog.Com, you probably noticed a newly (drastically) redesigned home page for ChristianBlog.Com this morning! Effective just a few minutes ago we rolled out a new (non-logged in) home page for the ChristianBlog.Com website, which does away with everything that use to be there, except the right-hand categories, the testimonies, and the about website section. What we replaced everything with was what we are (for now) calling our "Splash" page - which has the latest Blog Entries to utilize our most recent new feature "Photographs Embed Into Blogs" - which is a really great new feature that allows you to include a photograph from flickr.com within your Blog Entry! If you......
The art of dealing with weird characters in blogs...
published . 3 min read
One of the on-going behind-the-scene problems we have had here at ChristianBlog.Com over the last year or so has been dealing with odd characters that show up within Blog Entries. The vast majority of the time these odd characters show up it is due to our members who write their Blog Entries in a program such as Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, Apple Pages or TextEdit, or similar word processor applications. We have spent in excess of a dozen hours just trying to develop a method to properly handle all of the idiosyncrasies of each of the mainstream word processors and how the interact with website software such as ChristianBlog.Com and at time it still appears as if we are unable to 100-percent accomplish the goals of properly converting the word processor characters to web characters. Many......
Website stats for q3 2009
published . 1 min read
I try to leave the pure numbers to those who specialize in numbers - I do not - but I just checked our Quarter Growth of Q3 from last year and it was pretty amazing! Please note that these numbers come from a third-party statical company and not our own. We do not use these stats by the third-party company for anything other than cross reference from our own statistical software. They differ in that we count every time a page of our website is viewed. These third party stats use a convoluted algorithms which highly differs from our own method. None the less, they present an amazing graph of just how much our growth has increased, even with a bad first month to start the Quarter. Q3 2008 saw a total of 395,143 pageviews. Q4 2009 saw a total of 562,094 pageviews. That is an increase of......
Christianblog.com kindle edition

ChristianBlog.Com is extremely happy to announce that you can new view ChristianBlog.Com Blogs on your kindle! The Amazon Kindle has had a feature since it first came out to be able to view popular Blog websites via your kindle device. Earlier this morning ChristianBlog.Com was finally approved and we are happy to say that we love it! The way it works, as far as we can tell, is that every so often Amazon queries our website to determine if there are any new Blogs that have been published. If there are new blogs it adds them to their own index and than pushed out the new blogs to your Kindle Device. At this time we are not exactly sure how fast this takes, nor how often, but once we figure it out we will let everybody know. For those on-the-go looking to stay up to day with......
Blog comment limitations for new members
published . 3 min read
Hello Everybody, Effective a few hours ago the ChristianBlog.Com Services has imposed a new restriction for new members by limiting the total number of comments allowed within their first three Published Blog Entries. Over the course of three years of research we have been able to gather an amazing about of data that reflects the behavior of new members and what is commonly referred to as internet trolling and flamewars caused by new members with a goal of causing such issues. At the heart of the matter is the goal of new members to cause strife and arguments by publishing content that they fully know will cause arguments or division. 1 Corinthians 8:9 speaks of being a stumbling-block towards others. Proverbs 18:6 speaks of causing strife or contention towards others. Colossians 2:4......

Hello Everybody, It seems of late that our members have been taking some unorthodox means of violating our Global Policies in a quest to share Personal Contact Information. Our Global Policies are very clear on this matter: Content Policy Private and Confidential Information: Outside of the ChristianBlog.Com "Personal Contact Information" system we do not allow the publishing of people's private and confidential information, either your own or that of others. TO PROTECT OUR USERS: ANY TRANSMISSION OR PUBLICATION OF ANY EMAIL ADDRESSES, PHONE NUMBERS, PHYSICAL OR MAILING ADDRESSES, INSTANT MESSENGER USER NAMES, AND/OR OTHER 'methods of contact' ANYWHERE WITHIN OUR WEBSITE WILL BE CONSIDERED A VIOLATION OF THIS POLICY. New feature: blog recommendations
published . 3 min read
Blog Recommendations Back on September 09, 2009 ChristianBlog.Com announced a new "highly experimental" feature we temporarily called "Blog Voting" which was described this way: ChristianBlogTowards the bottom of all Blog Entries, on the right side, below the "report this blog" link is a new feature with two icons: a thumbs-up icon and a thumbs-down icon. If you feel a given blog is an exceptionally good blog, you can click the thumbs-up icon and it will increase the voting score by one point. Likewise, if you feel the given blog is an exceptionally poor blog entry you can click the thumbs-down icon and it will decrease the voting score by one point. These points have no relevance anywhere else within the website. This is a highly experimental feature that we......
Photographs embed into blogs - a new feature!
published . 5 min read
Hello Everybody, ChristianBlog.Com has just released a new feature that will allow you to directly embed a photograph into your Blog Entry. An example of this new feature is shown in the below screenshot, which was taken from this Blog Entry by @abelajohnb, which was the very first blog to utilize this new feature. As you can see, the photograph is sized to fit our website, it is surrounded by (what we feel is) a pretty background/border, and proper legal credit is given where proper legal credit is due - and best of all is that all of that happens automatically! Three Important Issues: The first thing to understand is that this feature only works (at least at this time) with the extremely popular (and we believe the worlds most popular) photo hosting website. We do intend to expand this......
Deleting comments in your blogs
published . 4 min read
Deleting Comments In Your Blog One of the often least talked about feature of ChristianBlog.Com is the ability to delete unwanted, duplicated, spammy-feeling, or just plain flat out incoherent comments, from your Blog Entries. While the ability to delete comments from your own blog entries has not been around for very long, it is one of the more useful features of Premier Membership. While we try as much as possible to discourage the use of deleting comments, ChristianBlog.Com does realize there are times when, as a Blog Author, having the ability to remove a comment or two from your own Blog Entry is a helpful feature to have access too. How It Works: Removing a Blog Comment from one of your Blog Entries is a very simple process. When you are looking at the Blog Comment you want to......
A new christianblog.com chatroom has arrived!
published . 6 min read
Hello Everybody, A few minutes ago we brought online a new chatroom for the ChristianBlog.Com website. For those of you who frequent our chatroom you will notice a few differences between the old chatroom software and our new one - but nothing too drastic. Over the last few months (6-8) we have been having larger and larger issues with the chatroom software we have been using so we have spent some time trying to find a new one to replace it with. When we came across the new one we immediately feel in love with it, even though it cost almost $150 bucks (one time fee, we hope.) Please help us offset the costs of the new chatroom by sending us a [internallinnk=http://www.christianblog.com/donate/]donation[/internallink] if you are a frequent chatroom member and have the means too! Major revamp of the blog entry page!

Greetings Everybody, We figured with it being 9/9/9 on our calendar today that would make it a great day to release a new update to our website that we have been working on for the last few months! Ok, ok, ok... there is nothing special about 9/9/9 (at least not that we know of - lol) but any day we release an update to the website HAS to be a great day, eh! Ok so if you are reading this blog from the ChristianBlog.Com website you are probably already seeing some of the changes we have made - unless you have never been to ChristianBlog.Com before! We have done a major revamp of our "Blog" page... from the ground up... with over three weeks of work leading up to today, and over four months worth of R&D to develop and test some of the features! The first thing you will see is that......

Blacklist renamed to "ignore list" and now available to all members!

Hello All, The highly popular Blacklist feature that ChristianBlog.Com has had in place since March of 2009 has undergone a name change to "Ignore List" to better help our members understand the purpose of what it is for and the ability it has to help our members from being bothered by other CB members they feel they are being bothered by. Furthermore, ChristianBlog.Com has decided to make available the Ignore List to ALL member of ChristianBlog.Com, as of today. Originally we released this feature only to Gold Members, and has been available for all Gold and Premier members since April of 2009. In our on-going attempts to add as much advanced privacy as we can for our members we have decided that the greater need for all of our members out-weighed the ideology of keeping this......
Cb groups discussion system undergoing changes!
published . 4 min read
Greetings Everybody, Late tomorrow (Sunday August 23, 2009 PST, GMT-7) ChristianBlog.Com will be revamping the CB Groups to utilize a whole new Discussions system which will allow for concise and threaded discussions, rather than a 'free-for-all' method like the CB Groups presently use. The system will be similar to our present Open Discussions system, so if you are familiar with it, you should be able to easily adjust to the new CB Groups Discussion system. Discussions With A Twist: Being who we are we couldn't just leave a good thing alone - we had to go and change it up a bit to make things easier to navigate (for members that is) and to help make things easier to stay on topic. We believe that a good discussion is a discussion that can stay on-topic. Unfortunately the way......

Hello everybody, ChristianBlog.Com has just done something we have said we would not do... something that very few Blog Service Providers do... We have decided to allow members the ability to update their Blog Comments! There are, however, two restrictions on this new feature. First we have decided to place a time-restriction on this new feature. You will only be able to edit your Blog Comment within three minutes of posting it! This short period of time will allow you the ability to fix any errors you might have missed while on the "Preview" page. While we are not sure why folks do not spend the extra few seconds to review their Blog Comments on the "Preview" page, it seems they are, and are thus wanting to have the ability to edit their Blog Comments. Now you can.........

We hope that they do not cause any conflicts and that they work properly and as-exacted. Please let us know if you have any issues with them. For Gold Members Only: For those of you who are Gold Members: We have a feature update that we released a few minutes ago that has been an on-going discussion over the last few days by a large majority of our Gold Members to "have more than one Featured Blog at a time." After allowing public feedback by our Gold Members it was decided to allow them this ability. As can be seen within......

Feature returning: blog tags

Hello Everybody, Over the course of the week ahead we will again be rolling out "blog tags" for all new Blog Entries. We suspended this feature a few months ago when our website was encountering heavy loads from all the new growth we were having. However with our new server just a matter of hours away, this is a feature we have decided to turn back on. For now, as it was before, all blog tags are automatically generated by ChristianBlog.Com based upon key word popularity within your Blog Entry. Our method of creating Blog Tags is a closely held method so we will not be releasing any details on how it works - suffice to say it is a "key word popularity" method that uses whitelists to emphasis key words we like, and blacklists to remove key words we do not like. As has......

Follow-up: community suspended content

Hello Everybody, I felt it was time to post an update about the issue of our "Community Suspended Content" feature which I presented to the ChristianBlog.Com Community a little over a month ago. One of the big issues behind this new feature is whether it would work or not. Another big issue was whether it would be abused or not. Thankfully the latter issue has proven to not be an issue. However, the first issue has proven to be an issue and that is an issue I need to find a solution for - or find a viable other solution to replace it with. A Trial Has Been Tried: On March 31, 2009 ChristianBlog.Com Moderators went "hands-off" from doing any Moderating on their own. We are now 36 days into our trial of whether the Reporting Scoreboard feature is solid enough to justify......

published . 1 min read
Off-Site Link Security Notice A few minutes ago we finished up work on a new security feature for ChristianBlog.Com which will display a friendly notification to you if you click on a website link that would take you to another website. We have implemented this in order to provide a higher level of security notification to our members. We realize that a lot of our members may not want to leave the ChristianBlog.Com website, and they may inadvertently click on a link that would take them to another website. Our new off-site link security notification will help solve that from happening! Take for instance this (screen shot) of a comment that was posted within an Open Discussion by the owner of ChristianBlog.Com: As you can see there is a normal link to a website within the message he......

Website Updates: April 23, 2009 Over the course of the last 72-96 hours a number of changes have been made to the ChristianBlog.Com website. Below is a documentation of the changes that will directly affect the membership community of ChristianBlog.com Profile Status Updates (aka: "What's on your mind?", aka: "What are you doing?"): We have made major change to the way that your "Status Updates" are displayed within your Profile Page. Previously your "Status Updates" were displayed on the right-side of your Profile Page. This was a great thing until we added the ability for your Friends/Contacts to add comments to each of your Status Updates. What we mean by "until" is that we failed to execute a "clean way to display" the......

Features removed: bulletins and shoutouts

Features Removed: Bulletins and Shoutouts Due to an overwhelming response of love and adoration by the ChristianBlog.Com community towards the My Wall feature we added to ChristianBlog.Com back on January 18 2009, we have found that the features of the "Bulletins" and "Shoutouts" have become depreciated by features that exist, or will in the near future, within the "My Wall" feature of ChristianBlog.Com! We have been tracking the usage of the Bulletins and Shoutouts since we activated the "My Wall" feature since we enabled the "My Wall" feature for all accounts on 02/22/2009 and we have realized that what we figured would be the case is indeed the case - that is, that the "My Wall" feature would end up replacing the Bulletins and......
Feature updated: private message system now has preview!
published . 1 min read
Hello Everybody, Just a brief message to let everybody know that we have now added the "preview" feature to our private message system (my messages). This will allow the private message system to work just like our blog system, bulletin system, shoutout system, and so on. In essence: Type a message, preview a message, update or send the message! Not sure why this was never done before now... but at least it is done now, eh! Please let us know if you encounter any issues with it via a shoutout or via our twitter account or by replying to this blog! There are four other things to be aware of: All messages and subjects will now be filtered by our "bad word censor" feature. All messages and subjects will now be filtered by our "blacklisted words" feature. The......

Greetings everybody, We have decided to release a new feature to all of our Gold Members today! This is a feature we presented on February 12, 2009 as an upcoming new feature of ChristianBlog.Com! Blacklist: The feature is "Blacklisting", which as defined by Wikipedia as: wikipediaA blacklist (or black list) is a list or register of persons who, for one reason or another, are being denied a particular privilege, service, mobility, access or recognition. Here at ChristianBlog.Com the blacklist will make it so that people that you choose to blacklist will have not any of their published content displayed on the ChristianBlog.Com home page. Minor website updates: 03-18-2009
published . 1 min read
Hello, We have two minor announcements for today: (1) We have added a new category entitled "Sermon Notes". This new category has two purposes: (a) To allow pastors to post any sermons notes that they have written up and feel like sharing with the world. (b) To allow those who take notes from services they hear to post the written notes that they have taken. We see this as a fun way to be able to allow pastors to share their thoughts and ideas with others - as well as allow those of us who hear sermons and take notes, to come to ChristianBlog.Com after their Saturday/Sunday/Wednesday/Whatever services and post the notes that they took! Many people take notes, but what usually happens to those notes and what good do they do? Very little for most people - sadly. Well now you can......

Hello Everybody, A few small updates happened over the weekend. , We have removed the "Headline" and "Mood" from the profile page, due to a greater emphasis being placed upon the "Status" (aka: "What Are You Doing?") feature. You can now quickly update your Status by clicking on the icon next to the "Logout" within the top-navigation that looks like a clock. Simply press the clock and a small box will reveal itself just below the navigation menu, type in your message (up to 140-characters) and press the "update" button! , We have changed the way that we display Membership Levels throughout the website. We are in the process of removing the membership level icons that have been next to usersnames throughout the website. We have......
A new logged-in home page!
published . 5 min read
Greetings everybody, As hinted by Mr. Abela in a blog comment he posted on 02/21/2009 ChristianBlog.Com has undergone a change to a new (logged in) "Home Page" that he has been working on. This new home page is vastly quicker to load, much cleaner and easier to view all relative information, and is the next step forward in a new overall layout and design of ChristianBlog.Com! The Changes: Here are the changes: (1) The page is much smaller in length (which means less scrolling) due to the removal of "blog previews". By removing the first part of the blog message we have been able to reduce the overall length of the home page by 400% - this means less scrolling down and down and down and down to get to the bottom of the page! Don't worry though, you can still view a......
An end to the christianblog.com music reviews
published . 2 min read
Hello Everybody, We wanted to announce to the general public that ChristianBlog.Com has decided to terminate our "Music Review" feature here at due to a number of small factors. At the end of the day we all have to ask yourself "Is what I did today productive for the Lord?" Often times, those of us "behind the scenes" of websites come up with (what we feel) is a really great idea. Sometimes they are, sometimes they are not. As we tend to think that we are responsible believers here at ChristianBlog.Com we try to analyze all of our activities, the activities of those helping us, the activities of our members - and from that try to gauge what is being successful and what is not. There is an old statement that I learned from working on a horse ranch for a few......
Major security updates coming soon to christianblog.com!
published . 5 min read
Hello Everybody, Within a very short duration (sometime before the end February, we hope) ChristianBlog.Com will be making a major change to the privacy features of our minor (those under 18 years of age) members. For the better part of two years there have been major pushes -- by Parental Right Advocacy Groups, Internet Privacy Groups, and a whole host of other Groups who desire to protect the rights of minors on the internet -- to enforce a greater level of protection at social website (which ChristianBlog.Com is) for those who are minors. Over the last two years we have seen major websites like myspace and facebook legally forced to take measures. While ChristianBlog.Com has not been forced by legal council to put into place such privacy settings, we understand that ChristianBlog.Com......

Cb news: updates to blog comments, group notifications, and website growth!
published . 3 min read
Hello Everybody, A few small updates to the website from last night occurred and we wanted to let everybody know. First: We have put into place a "x# of published Blog Entries required before you can publish a Blog Comment with a website link within it" restriction that the owner of ChristianBlog.Com spoke up within the New Requirement: 5 Blog Entries Required Before Offsite Linking Blog Entry. A popular method of people spamming websites is to join a website and rather than post blog entries, they just spam existing blog entries with comments that contain website links. To counter that, we have now put into place a forced requirement that people must publish at least three (3) blog entries with no website links, before they can publish blog comments with website links. And, our......
Shoutout creation revamped
published . 1 min read
Greetings all ChristianBlog.Com Members, This is just a brief message to inform everybody that we have revamped the "Shoutouts" system, when creating/add a new shoutout. We realized there were a number of small bugs and issues with the shoutouts creation process, so we have rewrote it from the ground-up. Please post a response to this blog entry if you happen to come across any issues with the recent changes. We should also formally announce at this time (it actually went into place a month or two ago) that Shoutouts no longer accept bbcode, smilies, website links, images, paragraph breaks, so forth and so on. We do realize this might come as a bummer to many people, and we are willing to allow public feedback about this change. Our reason for this change is rather simple: Of......

That feature is/was "email notification" for when people post comments on a specific blog entry that you would like to be notified of when people post new comments! In other words: when you post a comment on a blog entry, you have the option of getting an email anytime anybody else posts a comment to the blog entry! New requirement: 5 blog entries required before offsite linking
published . 1 min read
Public Notice: As of 11/1/2008 ChristianBlog.Com is now requiring all members to post at least five (5) Blog Entries that do NOT contain a link to another website, before they can post a link to other websites (aka: off-site linking.) ChristianBlog.Com is taking this step to further reduce the amount of spam advertisement new members attempt to publish. A popular technique of blog spammers is to join a blog service - such as ChristianBlog.Com - and post a single blog entry with a link to other websites. In the past ChristianBlog.Com suspended these type of blog entries as soon as we detected they were posted, however we have felt it was time to take a pro-active stance against these type of blog spammers by simply not allowing blog entries to contain any offsite links, until the new......

Forcing image resizing
published . 1 min read
One of the big items on our "To Do List" has been a way to solve images from breaking our website. Because we have a fixed-width website design - at the moment - it is fairly easy to break the layout of the page by posting an image that is larger then what our fixed width design is setup for. What happens is the main table with all the Blog text pushes out to the right-side of the page -- not good! So we had a number of options before us: , Force people to use our own website for storing images (not something we want to do). , Resize images on-the-fly (but causes long load times). , Find a way via or CSS to resize them. Our entire development team spent the better part of this afternoon trying to find a viable solution to this issue. Eventually one of us came across a blog......

While most of us are rather busy developing, it was decided by [member="abelajohnb"], the founder/owner of ChristianBlog.Com, to start taking a bit of time each day (or whenever we are able too) to share bits of information about what we are doing, applications we use, programming methods, code snippets, and other such features. The overall reasons for this will be to further the community growth, provide a resource for other developers, and encourage others to do the same. The primary issues we will address are: , Internet Application Development , Intranet Application......
