Do you know your purpose in the kingdom of god

"God has appointed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then those who perform miracles, those who have gifts of healing, those who help others, administrators, and those who speak various kinds of languages." (1 Corinthians 12:28)NIV Can everyone say out loud, I HAVE A PURPOSE IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD! GREAT! Now, let s begin to discuss what Kingdom purpose is.  In 2002, Pastor Rick Warren wrote an NY Times bestselling book A Purpose Driven Life to give clarity to the Body of Christ regarding many questions that most people have asked themselves at one time or another concerning their purpose in life.  Warren sums it up with the question, What on earth am I here for? Good question, right? You may have even wondered about specific traits that......
An identity crisis

"My people are destroyed from a lack of knowledge." (Hosea 4:6) As I was reading the above scripture, the Holy Spirit was drawing me into the deep. The words of the minor prophet were as if they were the only words on the entire page. I was completely drawn in. Instinctively, I knew God wanted my attention. In the stillness of the moment, the next impressions to flood my thoughts were prompted by the Holy Spirit. He brought to my remembrance " The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight"(Proverbs 9:10). In excitement, I grabbed my notepad to record these verses of scripture that the Lord would reveal the message/teaching I would be entrusted with. Now, I don't want to sound like this happened overnight. In fact, I......
A matter of the heart

Ezekiel 36:26 “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.” Today, I have a mini Bible Lesson. The topic is: A Matter of the Heart Let’s excavate the above scripture. The scripture was taken from a conversation that God was having with the prophet Ezekiel. Ezekiel was called to be a prophet to Israel during Israel’s captivity in Babylon for their disobedience and sin against God. God called him to strengthen Israel with messages of hope and deliverance of His revealed plan of release from captivity, restoration and the return to their homeland. But, why did Israel become captives to another nation? Sin and disobedience against God caused their......

"But when he came to himself, he said, 'how many of my father's hired servants have more bread, but I perish here with hunger." (Luke 15:17) I have FINALLY submitted. Awkward and embarrassed, I am grateful to find my way back home to CB. This time my absence was a little over a year. In my time away I wasted time. I wasted my gift. My God-given talent with the written word. I lost the love for it too. I can't remember the last time I truly was inspired to pen as a ready writer. My joy to express the treasures that the Holy Spirit prompted was dormant as a frosty winter morning. I reasoned that my "writing block" was seasonal and typical of most writers. However, I could not escape the truth that I lacked the discipline and accountability to my ministry of......
Keeping the sabbath holy

"Remember to observe the Sabbath dayby keeping it holy" (Exodus 20:8 NLT). Does this conversation between two friends sound familiar to anyone? Friend #1: "Hi!" "It's so good to hear from you!" "It's been such a long time since we talked." "What have you been up to lately?" Friend #2: "I've been crazy-busy... "During the weekI driveJohnny to his basketball practices then theweekends are filled with his games." "My elderly mother has just moved into our home due to health problems." "My boss has just given me more responsibilities at work." "Laundry still needs to get done." " I'm grocery shopping on Sunday's because there is no other day to get it done."......

"For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope(Jeremiah 29:11) NLT". I'm just expressing some random thoughts today and I want to get it out of my spirit. Writing in this state is something that I've never done before, (I'm a private person)and I couldn't even begin to tell you where all this is going. I have no answer for why I'm feeling like this, but I don't want to succumb to the temptation of planting my self in front of the T.V. to numb thispain. So, I will write! I'm taking courage to confront this! Today. Yes, it's a pain. The pain I feel is like a dullache deep inside my soul that surfaces from time to time. Although it's been there a long......

"Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the post of my doors" (Proverbs 8:34) KJV. As I moveforward in God's plan for my life, I want to shareGod's wisdom and instruction that He gave me to remain connected! That is, to stay connected to His presence and be in divine alignment with His will. To recap, I allowed a new, demanding job to slowly distract me and fall out of balance with my relationship with the Father and His Son, Jesus. But, thanks be to God for His mercy and loving-kindness forsnatching me out of disobedience throughloving discipline and correction, that I may understand my errors and change my direction (repentance). Success is defined differently for many people. Some consider success as the acquisition of wealth and......

Zephaniah 2:3 “Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD's anger." "R-E-P-E-N-T!"The words loudly echoed in my spirit. The fierceness of the sound causedmy knees to buckleunder me.Immediately, I yelled out "Yes, Lord"! Sobbing with uncontrollable tears, I managed to grab my belongings and make my way off the pulpit platform where I was sitting. You see, in my leadership capacity in my local church, I was assigned to serve communion today. At that point, serving was NOT a priority, listening to God was. As He prepared my heart to receive from Him, in a still, small voice Jesus whispered, "Willful Disobedience." Ipondered this......

Visibly captured through the hope in Your Word, And the voice of my Help; “Its preparation time for the bride!” He announces, “Behold the Bridegroom cometh!” His Bride: Adorned in white clothes, fragrant from the aroma of worship, Pure and chaste, no other lovers to soil my bridal garments. I've been guilty of carrying heavy loads of burdens ranging from completing mundane chores to keeping my spiritual disciplines (praying, bible study etc.) current. In fact, I've made my load even heavier by creating lists: To do lists, priority lists, urgent lists etc. Some lists were mental and some were meticulously created. What I figured out though, I created these lists because I was afraid. Afraid of failing. Afraid of Not being perfect. Afraid that everyone would see......

“Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away.” James 1:14 NLT Walking home from school, Katie passed by the window display showing the latest Barbie accessories at a neighborhood toy store. To get a closer look, she pressed her face to the glass and was excited by the items on the shelf. The huge “Sale” sign caused her eyes to focus on the fancy cell phone cases just below it. Katie saw the one she admired immediately. It was the shiny, satin pouch with a vintage picture of Barbie silkscreened on its cover. Katie thought to herself, “All my friends would be so impressed with me because NO ONE would have a cell phone case like this one.” Her thoughts continued. “More people will be my friend because I have a unique phone......

My heart is loaded with such grief that to write I must hold back the tears that are welling up. I'm crying out for the soul of our nation. "Sob!" "Sob!" "OH, God, Have MERCY on us!" I'm sure that every reader can add a few (or many) to this list. My question to you is this: In the above scripture can YOU identify with those that are oppressed? If not, then read on. "Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much." (James 5:16 KJV) As far back as I can remember I struggled with discipline issues. In my youth, I lived by such a flawed moto: "if you don't feel like it, just don't do it". This was a set-up to believe that I was in control, yet the irony of this mindset was I was actually being disciplined in the art of NOT being disciplined. How? I PRACTICED IT EVERYDAY! I recall missing the mark with the task of brushing my teeth at night. And, with the piano lessons. And, the dance lessons too. As I got older, it resurfaced with consequences. Not studying for exams. I became a B and C student, when I had the potential of being......
A tale of two pieces of fruit: kingdom of god (part 7)
published . 4 min read
Greeting Saints! Recently, God used an ordinary situation to teach me about an important principle concerning “His righteousness” (His way of doing and being right) according to Matthew 6:33 AMP: “But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides” (Matthew 6:33 AMP). It is the Tale of the Two Fruit: A short, cautionary tale, about a lifestyle of hypocrisy. On a winter afternoon, Jim and Nancy decided to stay indoors and prepare a late-afternoon meal to enjoy their movie collections of Laurel and Hardy comedies. Racing to the kitchen, Jim reached for the apples and Gouda cheese for his appetizer and Nancy took charge over a mixed tossed......
Interrupted; but not an intrusion

Hello CB Friends, Today's blog is birthed out of tribulation and persecution regarding the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. While I've been away from the ChristianBlog forum, I have suffered through (and still going through) persecution because I took a stand for the TRUTH. For weeks I felt like the Apostle Paul when he lamented to the Gentiles in Rome about the many setbacks that kept him away from his beloved ministry (1 Cor. 15:22). At times I felt helpless, but trusting; fearful, yet enduring --while I waited for the grace of God to shift my circumstances and re-position me into my assignment (CB). "Yes, I was interrupted, but it wasn't an intrusion." Opposition confronts you when you're moving forward in God's will for your life. However, it is the......

Greetings Saints of the Most High! As I perused my previous blogs written on this subject, my thoughts quietly reminded me that the Kingdom of God and His righteousness contain the core principles that unlock our understanding to realizing our full potential within the Body of Christ. As members of God's Army, by activating this potential we position ourselves to advance and take territories and kingdoms for our Savior and destroy the powers of the kingdom of darkness. It's been just shy of three weeks since my last blog and I've been agonizing through the many distractions that were designed to prevent me from writing to God's precious ones in this season. In the span of time I've confronted rejection, family strife, a family member diagnosed with cancer and a recent health challenge. “But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides” (Matthew 6:33 AMP). Recently, I watched a movie and one of the characters described memory as a precious gift to retain and store information for circumstances of our greatest necessity. The words are still etched in my mind even now... “Memory is the scribe of the soul” . Such a statement captures the essence about the power to recall and its ability to reach the depths of the human spirit. It is within this thought that we will discover God's plan to shape our identity by remembering the essential benefits He has provided for us through Jesus Christ. And the purpose: to NEVER......

Thus far we have understood that God is the Supreme Ruler of His Kingdom by which we were made citizens through the born-again experience of choosing, accepting and confessing that Jesus is Lord over our lives. In fact, this act of faith makes us His children with access to the resources, benefits and virtues to mature in relationship with Him and bring forth His purposes in the earth. It's similar to when you start a new job for a new company. We've all been there. Remember those awkward moments of learning company culture. The times when you're trying to figure......

Let's begin with a recap of the previous blog: According to scripture, we understand that God has given us all wisdom and knowledge that is hidden for us in Him (Colossians 2:3). Therefore we have the privilege of possessing spiritual principles to learn and build our faith upon. Likewise, in order to receive our wants and needs from Christ Jesus, it is imperative that we follow His specific instructions that He has provided for us in the Word of God. “But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides” (Matthew 6:33 AMP). For many of us, we find it difficult to navigate our blood-bought rights and privileges. We are admonished in scripture......

“But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides” (Matthew 6:33 AMP). In most realms of governance, at its head is one that exhibits authority and power over its citizenry. In fact, history has taught us that the concept of governance (as we now know it) began with the ancient Greeks in their creation of the Polis. In hot pursuit of ideals of freedom, the Polis (Greek city-states) galvanized the Greeks into a sense of safety and security from the threats of warfare and enslavement. Citizenship of the Polis extended those notions by granting privileges, exclusivity and social status to the men that submitted to the conditions set forth by the......

Greetings to my brothers and sisters in the Lord, First, I want to ask for forgiveness for my lack of faithfulness to this forum to which I have been assigned by God. The reason for my lapse has been succumbing to one of my weaknesses... laziness. For me, this is nothing new; I start off really strong, then the temptation to get sidetracked and distracted becomes like a tasty morsel I cannot resist - resulting in the sin of disobedience. I'm done with the excuses. The devil didn't make me disobey. I did. Frankly, I struggle with discipline/faithfulness. I had forgotten what Spring looked like, it's no wonder, I haven't opened my front door in months! I had gotten comfortable with Winter's normal. I have to admit though, in the times I heard this statement, I dismissed it simply because I couldn't comprehend the notion that an ALL-POWERFUL, ALL-KNOWING God could somehow be humorous, funny and lighthearted too. Smells a lot like R-E-L-I-G-I-O-N. Ugh! Anyway, one morning in prayer, I heard the question He spoke into my heart. "Are you ready to serve?" The sound was so gentle and pure. To just sit and wait for some doctor to prescribe me antibiotics that I may or may not need or to be charged for unnecessary services that I could just "ride out" in the comfort of my own home, I thought. But as the symptoms got worse, and I was got weaker, the Holy Spirit instructed me to follow His wisdom and not my own understanding. I'm so glad that I did. A couple of weeks have gone by since my last post and I have discovered something revealed by the Holy Spirit. The revelation: My soul MUST remain rested in Him. Rest. Ceasing from all work and labor. Tranquil. A place of peace and quietness. A state that my soul was'nt in. Immediately, the truth of this revelation began to unfold the root cause. Perfectionism. Perfectionism is striving to meet a high standard of conduct in your own strength by your own works. The deception is that it is based on performance and not faith. It's a kin to actions without grace. Also, part of the temptation of perfectionism is believing that God is only interested and pleased with accomplishments and results, making striving after goals and dreams (even God-inspired) detrimental to the learning......

One of the many benefits of God's plan of salvation is the discovery of His purpose for your life. Not only did God so graciously give us eternal life through Christ, but through His lovingkindness, He created us with a unique set of gifts and talents to be cultivated and utilized to bring Him glory (Matthew 25: 14-15). In my journey to live purposefully, I'm discovering that being in the right place (a place of obedience) at the right time (God's divine timing) unlocks the Lord's abundant provision upon the assignments He has given us. Jesus came in order to give us an abundant life. A life without boundaries and limits. According to John 10:10," ... I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance -- to the full, till it overflows." Isn't......

In any balanced exercise regimen, strength, endurance and flexibility are the desired goals to acheive maximum results. Likewise, trials come to develop our spiritual muscles in order to produce strength in our faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the redemption that He paid for us on Calvary. While I know and believe that Jesus has delivered me from fear, that doesn't stop the enemy from testing my faith in that area. His word warns us of our adversary, " The thief comes only in order that he may steal and may kill and may destroy... (John 10:10). These are the enemies tactics against the children of God. Recently, he came to steal my faith regarding my deliverance by tempting me to make decisions motivated from fear and not from faith. But, Glory be to God! He has......

As I move forward in God's grace, I have realized some pretty powerful truths. A person can be the most talented, gifted individual around, but a lack of love in the heart -- I mean true, genuine love; God's love (1 Cor. 13), motivating our plans and purposes, all will fall on the ground becoming ineffective. Yes, the work we do for God is a good thing. Feeding the homeless is a good thing, teaching a bible study... a good thing, a choir member... all great things -- but, do we ask ourselves, WHY? What is our motivation? Maybe, we're doing some things just because we were asked to, or even to fulfill a need to be busy doing something ANYTHING! 1 Cor. 12:31 states, " But earnestly desire and zealously cultivate the greatest and best --the higher [gifts] and the choicest......

First, I would like to thank my heavenly Father for this opportunity to share His wonderful transformation power in my life. Forgive me, if I ramble a bit... this is my very first blog. God has put me on a path to discover my true authentic self. For many years I existed as a person that went through life drifting and not having any real direction or purpose. Oh, I had great parents; they did the best they could do... but I suffered silently from low self-esteem from childhood sexual abuse by family members. This is no sad story, by no means, just a witness to the awesome transformation power of Jesus Christ working in my life. A life submitted to His leadership. I believe I'm in the "second act" of my life. My past with all of it's disappointments, pain and fear is......
