This blog is co authored with one of my friends here at CB, bethy. [spacer] She requested I write it. [spacer]She prefers to write about Ice Truckers and such! ;) Friendships are awesome in so many ways. [spacer]They can bring consoling. [spacer]They can bring laughter. [spacer]They can be for sharing tears. [spacer]They can be wonderful support. [spacer]Friendships provide a different level of understanding and communication than with our family members. [spacer] Friendships do not expect the same things out of us our family might. [spacer]Research says there are health benefits to friendships. [spacer]There is probably a whole basket full of neat things about friendship that we may sometimes take for granted. Perhaps, one of the best benefits of friendship might be bouncing ideas back and forth. [spacer]Friendships generally come out of a common bond or like.[spacer] They are especially significant when it is a friendship built on the common bond of the LORD. There are so many different blessings that can come out of a friendship. So today in general conversation, bethy shared an experience she had. I was driving along today, and my mind was blank as usual, and out of nowhere satan just hit me with something stupid I had done... it came from nowhere took me by surprise for a minute This ever happened to you? As she was describing her feelings and processing this experience, I had a vision play through my mind. [spacer]Many of us who have children, grandchildren or been care givers of children have had a child get a scrape, cut or some sort of little €˜Ouchy'. [spacer] I use this word because the word €˜booboo' wasn't in bethy's Northern Ireland language :) Generally, the first thing a child does is run to you crying. [spacer]They KNOW where to run to receive comfort. [spacer]They know who will take care of the €˜Ouchy' and that you'll be able to fix it. God wants us to do the same thing...RUN to Him... and His Word is our Band-Aid. Bethy commented just when you think you've dealt with something, the devil is good at trying to bring it back at you and wondered why when we thought we had dealt it. Reminding her of Jesus in the wilderness being tempted by the devil, I brought up Luke 4:13 KJV "And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season." NKJV uses the words "until an opportune time." When satan sees that a typical tactic has stopped working against us, he will try another. [spacer]Look how it was in the Book of Job. Our job is to be prepared and stay strong in the faith. [spacer]We know the actions we are to take. [spacer] Do we stand on them? The Christian Scouts' motto should be Ephesians 6:10-11 " Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." This is the weapon we have against warding off another opportune time! [spacer]Yet, we know there is more. bethy said "the other thing it taught me was had i been praying without ceasing or praising him when I had a quiet moment then I would not have left my mind open for invasion. [spacer] But I have learned to hand it straight to God" AMEN! We all know these €˜verses'. [spacer]Do we put them to proper use when we need them or are they just words in a book? [spacer]We need to somehow implant this on our minds. [spacer] In our praying and praising, standing on the Word is a mighty, powerful flame thrower. We don't know who might need to hear this right now, so bethy and I encourage you to pray without ceasing, praise Him continually and implant His Word in your mind and heart. [spacer] Be prepared for that next €˜opportune time'. [spacer]For it will happen! [spacer]We have a mighty big God to cover our €˜Ouchy'. Ephesians 6: 12-20 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints€” and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Amen and amen!
Just recently, I was attacked by the enemy and I thank GOD that before it happened.. i just had my quiet time w/ the LORD, praying to Him w/o ceasing and praising Him w/ all of my heart. I believe that w/o the full armor of GOD, i would've been drowning myself w/ self-pity until now. But the LORD is gracious and faithful to sustain me in the midst of this unending schemes that the enemy throws on me.
I praise GOD for indeed, there is nothing to fear!
Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world! :)
Thanks for sharing thisand for the advice!
I would surely heed it, lest i want to be trampled than to be the one trampling the enemy!
Amen, yes once we realize that through Christ we have a Father/child relationship with God and He stated that He was better than any earthly father could eveer be, we then know we can run to Him for comfort and bandaids.
Thanks for sharing,
2G, I have had many ouchy moments and still have them and I run to Him all the time. I like the band aids that have Disney characters on them. That wascally wabbit! Say your pwayers wabbit! The Lord always makes me laugh as He dries my tears away!
When we shoot ourselves in the foot... There is consequences and while Father God is there when we run... We may still have to work through the stings...
Do we let the stings be too much or do we let God deal with the stings while walking with us??
Excellent co - authoring..
