Weapons of war
In Christ you have authority! You have powerful weapons of war at your disposal. You can change situations and set captives free. There is no better time than now to stand up, take your place, and exercise that authority.
I am going to make a bold statement. Everything that is not the will of heaven can be bound, turned around, and forced to loosen its grip if we will persist in one thing.
Do I have your interest? God certainly had my attention when He spoke this to me -
You need to take authority over the devil on each and every front!
It changed my perspective. I saw the need for this one thing above all else. No matter what approach I took in prayer, it must include a stand of authority, claiming both protection and the enemy's defeat, through the blood of the Lamb.
We dwell in an enemy's territory. Satan has been cast down into the earth. He cannot reach the glorified Jesus now but seeks to reach Him by attacking His people. He is relentlessly watching to bring us under his authority, entirely or even partially. He is literally the prince of this world. [ii]
He not only tempts to inspire us with the spirit of this world and sin. He seeks entrance into earthly engagements and businesses. His influence can be seen in politics, literature, science, education and every field of activity. His desire is to make all that is lawful in itself into a tool to forward his devilish deceptions.
If you are to share in Christ's victory over Satan through the blood of the lamb you must be a fighter! You must allow the Holy Spirit to teach you and give the necessary discernment to stay his attempted advances.
God assigns us to areas of prayer. I call this area That which is under my covenant. It includes the people and places over which God has given me an assignment in prayer. Geographical places may be places we have not seen, filled with people we have never met. It is what the Spirit of God places on your heart.
Take authority over the devil's attempts in your family. Take authority over the mindsets of this world that entangle and blind to open the way for truth to break through. The kindness of God brings men to repentance. [iii] The amplified bible describes that kindness as leading to repentance [that is, to change your inner self, your old way of thinking - seek His purpose for your life].
Take authority over the devil's attempts on your body. God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.[iv]
Take authority over the devil over all that God has put into your care, under your covenant.
Notice that I said that we could affect change. We have the power at our disposal to do that. We just need to stand in agreement with the Word of God and persist, be as unrelenting as the enemy in our stand. Stand in authoritative prayer against the devil and his demons.
Recognize that spirits of wickedness create mindsets. They enforce the strongholds that entangle men's minds. With each generation, we witness the deterioration of what is right and good. We witness the increase of all wickedness. This is but the evidence of increasing strongholds.
When Jesus walked the earth, He understood that His kingdom was not of this earth. He knew that His battle was not with the politics of the day. He knew that He had to overcome Satan's power over this earth, through His very own blood.
Jesus Christ won the war! He took back the authority over the earth that Satan usurped. He gave that authority back to the church.
The church is the body of Christ. It is composed of believers full of the Spirit of God. If two of you shall agree as touching anything... [v].Two believers can stand on and in the authority God gave to His church.
A warfare rages over this earth. It is to determine who will rule this earth. The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof. [vi] Jesus won the war but it is up to us, the church, to uphold that victory.
For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.[vii]
This warfare is not with flesh and blood. It is not with political parties or ongoing agendas of men.
For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrowanddestruction of strongholds,[Inasmuch as we] refute argumentsandtheoriesandreasonings and every proudandlofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought andpurpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),[viii]
What is a stronghold? The dictionary defines a stronghold as a strongly fortified defensive structure. The verse above tells us the material of the structure. We must war the master spirits who are the world rulers of this present darkness. We must overthrow and destroy these strongholds.
We need to seek out and take hold of strongholds that have bound our own minds. We must take hold of the doctrines of man that contradict the Word of God. Man's doctrines rob us God's power and hold us hostage, leaving us weak and dependent.
It is time to see that we have powerful weapons of change. It is time to move from worry and fear into the driver's seat. We need to drive the devil out of our covenant territory. Grab the hand of another believer and agree to start a stand. Put on the whole armor of God and be about the task He has assigned.
I believe a 30-day test drive behind the wheel of authoritative prayer will not only change your perspective, but also leave you stronger.
The devil is behind all that is darkness, death, and destruction. God is light and in Him, there is no darkness. Rise up and bind the devil behind each and every work of darkness. Rise up in prayer to loosen strongholds and see captives set free.
