Its 8.55am and I am sitting on the floor in the living room, bruised, fragile and a little shaky. Yesterday morning Tom and I were going to school when my car hit sheet ice. I travel down a road that has steep drops into the fields. It seems that yesterday morning I was to have an appointment with one of those fields.
My car hit the ice and spun right round in the middle of the road. Our roads are narrow so there was really not much room for spinning. As it spun it flipped over the hedge and down a 15-20 foot drop. It hit the field at the drivers front panel and flipped twice more in the field.
I praise God for a few things... One that he yelled at me to grab my son by his tie and haul his head down away from the sides of the car. For telling me to lie on top of his head and keep him from being hit of the side window. For allowing my son to walk away with nothing more than a bad scare and a bruised finger. But most of all for being there with us.
As I think on this accident there are a few things that come to my mind. The first one is that I had no time to call on God for Salvation. There are some who say that they will have time in their last few minutes to repent... nah!! AIn't gonna happen to most people. All I could think of was saving my 14 year old son.
The second thing I realise is that it is Grace that would have taken me to Glory had I died. For I know that I had sinned that morning, either in word or deed. I am under no illusion that I am perfected yet. Yet I know that HE Keeps me in His Grace and I need not fear dying and not having had time to repent of every dot and every crossed T.
Thirdly, Satan hates me!!! For years God has put it on my heart to host a womens teaching conference in our village. Next weekend five years of prayer and waiting come together in the first women's "Faith and grace" conference. And one week before the conference I was almost killed.
So the fourth thing I realise... My times are in HIS hands.
Thank you Lord for your mercy and for keeping Bethy and Tom safe and giving them yet another day to serve and praise you.
Praying for you daughter.
Thanks for sharing your "things learned" from this terrible accident. They are very meaningful to everyone. Keep blogging. - bibleguy
all i can say bethy is thank God for you. be blessed
I got chills when I read this for I am recalling a couple of accidents as well as near misses I/we have had with ice over the years. I usually have to deal with snow and/or ice from November through April. I am soooo thankful that God kept you and Tom safe!
We often do not have time to call upon the Lord. No time at all. I am glad that He is not subject to time and that He knows our heart.
I will be praying for your upcoming conference and I know that it will be a blessing!
May the Lord rebuke the evil spirit trying to hinder you. God be praised for you and your son's safety.
I praise God for his protection over you and Tom and I am excited that I will be hearing more of your walk with God. God is, indeed, our protection!Lord, I thank you for your hand upon Bethy and Tom in such a horrible situation. I command fear to leave Bethy and her family as they seek to learn your lessons from this. Give to each of them, Lord, an overwhelming confidence in you - a knowledge that they are held within your hands. Father, I pray too for the conference that you have planned and I ask that your Holy Spirit will lead, guide and protect everyone that you want to be there. Amen
Thank you Lord for your mercy and for keeping Bethy and Tom safe. Thank you for your amazing undeserved Grace for keeping them safe from harm, and for allowing them yet another day to serve and praise you.
We thank Thee for the hedge of protection you put around them, and ask You now to use this experience to not only help them grow closer to you, but to touch someone close to them who has not yet accepted You as their Lord and Savior. Amen
Truly your insight into what you learned is right on and I believe God will use this incident to make you stronger and better able to carry out His plan for you. Thank God you and your son are fine. Cars can be fixed or replaced but human lives are a little different, just ask Blest.
If indeed you have been praying for and working to put on this conference, then there is no doubt the adversary was trying to keep it from happening. I could write a book on similar things that took place many years ago when I used to teach a weekend series around Easter each year. The enemy hates the Word of God and anyone who lives it.
I pray everything works out physically and spiritually and I praise God that you and your son escaped serious injury.
