I spent some time this morning going through You Tube and watching/listening to some songs I hadn’t heard in awhile. I don’t know how I could survive if not for the music God has inspired some of His talented people to produce for us all.
Since it is a nice quiet holiday weekend (at least here in the USA), I thought I would share a few of my favorite old songs for your blessings. I know many younger people have never even heard of some of these artists, but believe me, they are the very pillars of Christian music.
First up is one of my all time favorite songs and one that I have heard and sung along to a thousand times over the years. It is performed by Steve Green and is called; God And God Alone:
If there is one absolute in my life it is that God and God alone is my reason for being, my life and my Savior. I am nothing without God and through Him and His grace I am who I am and have what I have been given. Praise God for all He has done.
Another artist named "Green" (not related) is Keith. Some of us charter members of his fan club could listen to his music all day. It is such a shame his life ended so tragically many years ago, but thank God his music lives on.
I have been asked many times what my favorite recording of all time is and it is more or less impossible for me to say for I love so many. But, there is one song that has blessed me and settled my heart over and over again through the years. I wouldn’t say it is my favorite song, but it is the most meaningful song to me.
Lest this blog get so big I get in trouble for all these songs, I will leave you with two very special songs. The first is a song by Michael Card but performed here by Steve Green. I have always loved this song and especially the second verse about those sitting in darkness. It is called "Immanuel". After that is a song I love dearly by Dallas Holm called "Here we are" and I will leave you with it. Thank you for allowing me to share a few of my favorite songs.
Thanks for sharing these wonderful songs! Music truly is a gift from God. So often God ministers to me through music, particularly when things seem at their darkest.
Dear B2Y--Dallas Holm's "Here We Are" is one of my all-time favorites. Everytime I listen to it, I get this hungry kind of longing to be in the literal presence of the Living Christ.
I know the Holy Spirit is always with me and in me. But I have this mental image of what it will be like after the rapture when we're standing in the total presence of Jesus, and it is a most delicious sensation to contemplate.
I truly do not have words to describe the image or the impressions. Thank you so much for allowing me to re-experience it. YBIC--Meta
