Let me first say that I am one of the ten people on earth who never watched any Star Wars movies. Yes, there are a few of us around here. I also never watched any Star Trek movies or television shows. Back when Star Wars was so very popular in the 1970's, I was threatened with all sorts of torture if I didn't break down and watch at least the original. I never did and never will.
Last night "blest" and I finally figured out how to use our DVD player (after 4 years) and watched a movie her mom gave us for Christmas back a few years ago. I think we were about the last Christians on earth who had never watched "The Chronicles of Narnia", you know, the one with the lion and the wicked witch. We were both highly entertained and blessed to watch the movie.
One never knows how, where and when God is going to bless next. It could be some magnificent miracle of healing, financial deliverance or maybe it could be watching a fictional movie based on the writings of a truly great Christian. If we walk with the expectation of God richly blessing us, we many times find ourselves surprised how it happens.
In spite of the immature and stupid things we do at times, we are still God's kids and He still loves us dearly. The Father's heart is to see His children walk in His blessings. We can, if we will expect them instead of condemning ourselves into believing we are not worthy of them.
God is not only righteous and true, He is also GOOD. In fact, it is the goodness and gentleness of God that leads a man to repentance the Bible states. Of course God has to correct and reprove us at times for that is part of being a God of love. But, God's greatest desire is to see His children blessed as they walk in fellowship with Him.
I was approaching a traffic light yesterday I loathe, for it is almost always red and it takes forever to turn green. In fact, this same light early in the morning is activated by a clicker that rarely works. I can't run the red light for it has a camera. There have been times it takes nearly 5 minutes for the light to change and I am the only car in sight.
Anyway, as I approached the dreaded light, it was green for a change. Initially I thought it would change and I would be stuck there half the day, but then I thought just maybe God was going to bless me. Lo and behold He did just that. Amazingly the light stayed green long enough for me to get through it. It never stays green that long. Could it be that God watches over traffic lights? I believe so.
We were supposed to have some very strong storms yesterday afternoon with high winds. I had to go to a Wal Mart for something and the winds were already pretty strong. I just wanted a parking spot closer than the quarter mile walk I usually end up making. With the sky turning darker and the winds blowing stronger I drove down the aisle and lo and behold there was a "Saints parking place". That is what we used to call an open spot close to the door many years ago.
I checked my rear view mirror to see if a more deserving soul needed that spot and there was no one behind me. I pulled in and was in the store in a matter of 20 seconds. Could it be that God really does bless His kids with an empty parking space at times? I believe so.
Do I need that light to be green every day? NO. Do I need that close parking spot every time? NO. Do I need to watch a DVD every night? NO. But in all these cases I am not going to object to God's blessing me once in awhile.
In this crazy world with so much going on and going wrong it is truly nice to slow down every once in awhile and let God bless us with simple little things that put a smile in our heart and a grin on our face. Something tells me that our Father God has that same smile and grin as He sees us blessed.
Does falling asleep every single time within the first five minutes when you have even so much attempted to watch one of the Star War movies count as watching one of them?
I call what you have described as "love notes from God". I try to keep my eyes open for them for they are some of the little things which remind me that I do not walk alone in this world, I have a Savior who walks with me every step of the way.
Thank you brother, we must always be reminded that God works in all ways big AND small. One of the things I remind myself daily is that unless we can see God in the still small voice, we will not see Him in the burning bush. A movie, a traffic light, a parking spot, a a thousand other little things, tiny blessings remind us that that He is ever with us, ready to bless. I woke up this morning to the gentle sound of raindrops on my window and the cool that it brings, what a blessing. Come to think of it, I woke up this morning, what a blessing.
For several years I have driven back and forth to one or both of my daughter's homes to take care of grandchildren. It always means considerable highway driving. I used to be quite tense, but with the wonderful blessing of God, I am now very relaxed and enjoy spending time listening to Christian music and listening to God as He communes with me through the Holy Spirit. Also, there are two entrance ramps going from one highway to another that used to concern me. It seems as if God clears the path for me to enter the lanes of traffic over and over again. I always smile and thank the Lord as He continually does this for me and helps me to drive free of stress. :-p
In all things give thanks! Loved your post!
This is so awesome! God in all things! My favorite color is orange and the church I go to provided me with an orange vehicle! God is amazing! God Bless you! Amen! Dave
Brother Kirk, it is always such small and minute occurences that reminds us of God's attention to events and things of our lives which we thought were too insignificant for Him to notice. Yet when it does happen so miraclously, it will bless our days and re-focus our vision and our lives.
