God cannot lie

God cannot lie. God cannot lie. God cannot lie.

If anyone has any doubt about the integrity of God’s Word, let him rest assured that God cannot lie. It is not that God will not lie, God CANNOT lie. It is absolutely impossible for the God of all truth to lie. It simply is not possible for God to lie.

We can trust God because He cannot lie. We can believe God because He cannot lie. We can obey God because He cannot lie. We can love God because He cannot lie.

All men are liars. People lie to cover mistakes, get something they are not entitled to, show off how good they are, get rid of people they perceive to be threats etc. Latent within us all is the ability and willingness to lie. This is why it is so difficult for us to really believe that God cannot lie.

All of us have been lied to by people we loved and trusted. All of us have been hurt by friends, associates, family members, clergy etc. Lies break the element of trust necessary to make a relationship work. Once lied to, it is very hard to believe anything spoken by the liar.

Lies cannot be trusted for they will eventually let you down. No man can hide behind lies for a lifetime without sooner or later being crushed by the weight of them.

Just because we lie and have been lied to does not mean God lies. God cannot lie. We must tell ourselves this over and over again or we will fall prey to the doubts that come with distrust and fear of being lied to and then hurt.

Unlike people, God cannot lie and if we can overcome our natural tendency to doubt Him, we can enjoy the fruit of our faith in Him. The fruit of faith yields great peace, contentment and joy untouched by the storms of this life.

Over and over again we must continually force our feeble minds to understand that since God is not a man, He cannot and will not lie. God is true, God is honest, God honors His Word and will never break His promises or renege on what He has said He will do.

One of the most difficult things we must do in this life is to break through the doubts, fears and apprehensions that the world has bred into us and really let go and take God at His Word. Peter did this when he walked on the water. Before he allowed the waves to cause him to doubt, he literally walked on the Word of God and did not sink.

God cannot lie for He is a God of all truth. God will not lie for it is impossible for Him to do so. God can be trusted and believed because He is true and He will honor His Word, uphold His promises and always do what He said He will do.

As I read your blog, I thought of this verse:
God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act?
Has he ever promised and not carried it through?

Numbers 23:19 (NLT)
Thank you for this pertinent reminder today.

Very thought provoking blog.

We can say we do not believe God can lie- but -If we doubt the promises of God as we go through trials or that the Word is for Today as well as when it was written - Are we saying God has lied?
